Solar dryer is typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia. There are many economically important crops requiring storage or drying under particular environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. High temperatures inside solar dryer prevents the growth of microorganism, and quickly reduce moisture content from the substance. A hybrid solar dryer is generally considered to provide the most optimum solution, however solar panels may be expensive and they still only provide heat or energy in the daytime. Hence, we propose here a new kind of hybrid solar dryer for 24/7 optimum conditions for crops - enabled by recent advances in energy technologies as well as Industry 4.0. This study aims to create an efficient, affordable and a self-sufficient intelligent energy system that will be applied to agriculture for storage or drying purposes by measuring the energy needs for the optimal drying system. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate and assess the critical energy needs for such new systems in order to optimize and design such smart solar dryer (SSD) system especially for Indonesia's agricultural needs. We use design experience of our industry partner (PT Impack Pratama Industri, Indonesia) who has been working extensively on such solar dryer dome (SDD) based on polycarbonate material (only solar irradiation, no other technologies) and theoretical framework based on first principles in thermodynamics to estimate and assess critical energy needs for such dome with all the smart technologies. The calculation was performed based on Mollier diagram and the result still a rough estimation of energy required.

We present the results of a search for core-collapse supernova neutrinos, using long-term KamLAND data from 2002 March 9 to 2020 April 25. We focus on the electron antineutrinos emitted from supernovae in the energy range of 1.8-111 MeV. Supernovae will make a neutrino event cluster with the duration of ∼10 s in the KamLAND data. We find no neutrino clusters and give the upper limit on the supernova rate as to be 0.15 yr−1 with a 90% confidence level. The detectable range, which corresponds to a >95% detection probability, is 40-59 kpc and 65-81 kpc for core-collapse supernovae and failed core-collapse supernovae, respectively. This paper proposes to convert the supernova rate obtained by the neutrino observation to the Galactic star formation rate. Assuming a modified Salpeter-type initial mass function, the upper limit on the Galactic star formation rate is ☉ yr−1 with a 90% confidence level. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

There have been many studies conducted related to Smart City, IT Governance and Big Data. In this study aims to find out how the relationship between the three and how to form a framework to explain it. The methodology used is qualitative by looking for some literature on smart city framework, IT Governance framework, and a Big Data framework. From these results, an overall picture of the relationship between the three is concluded, where Big Data has a role in IT Governance. and also the relationship of IT Governance to the realization of Smart City. And the final results of this study produce a framework to explain the relationship between Smart City, IT Governance and Big Data.

In Brazil, the use of Eucalyptus is focused on the production of wood or pulp for the paper industry but without any general recovery of waste, with leaves and branches being left on the ground. One possibility is to use these residues as raw materials in the production of industrially relevant and value-added compounds such as essential oil. The aim of the present study was to investigate the chemical composition, yield, anti-inflammatory/antinociceptive activities, and acute toxicity in mice, as well as the antimicrobial effects of essential oils from the leaves of 7 varieties of Eucalyptus and hybrids against Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans . The extraction of oils was carried out using hydrodistillation, and they were analyzed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Urocam and Grancam were the plants that obtained the highest oil yield, with yields of 3.32 and 2.30%, respectively. The main chemical components identified in these plants were 1.8 cineole and α -pinene. The antinociceptive effect of the 7 oils (50 mg/kg, p.o.) was initially assessed in the acetic acid-induced writhing test. In this assay, a significant ( p < 0.05) antinociceptive/anti-inflammatory effect was observed from 4 tested essential oils ( E. benthamii, E. saligna, and the hybrids Urocam and Grancam) when compared to the vehicle-treated group. This effect was then confirmed in the formalin-induced paw licking test. No toxicological effects or alterations were observed in motor coordination after the administration of the studied oils to the animals. In the antimicrobial evaluation, the seven essential oils inhibited the growth of S. aureus, E. coli , and C. albicans at different concentrations. Collectively, these results demonstrate that the essential oil from the leaves and branches of Eucalyptus species and varieties present potential biomedical applications and represent a source of antimicrobial and/or anti-inflammatory compounds.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been increasingly used in wireless broadband communication systems. Guard interval (GI) is used in OFDM system to reduce inter-symbol interference (ISI). As selection of the length of guard interval depends on the channel condition, the length of guard interval will change dynamically. Thus there must be a way to synchronize this parameter between the transmitter and the receivers. Traditional OFDM systems require a transmitter to notify its receivers using additional signal and thus result additional bandwidth. However, the length of guard interval is usually fixed in conventional OFDM system, which decreases the power and spectrum efficiency considerably, especially in a mobile environment. To solve this problem, an OFDM system with variable guard interval is proposed in this paper. This system first utilizes the preamble and pilot sub-carriers of each OFDM packet burst to estimate the channel RMS delay spread, and then the result is fed into the guard interval controller. Then, the controller uses a criterion to calculate the guard interval and control the OFDM transmitter.

Detection of the aircraft from the remote sensing images attracts many attentions. Not only the aircraft taking off and landing but also the aircraft landing in the airport need to be monitored. This paper proposes a saliency-based CNN (convolutional neural network) method for aircraft detection in the remote sensing images. Many researches of aircraft detection access to a method of R-CNN (region convolutional neural network), which generates two thousand or more of proposal regions as candidates of the aircraft. The researches of using a saliency map to extract the objects from the images are still not so many. We adapt a series of preprocessing as transforming to a gray scale image, deleting the noise, binarizing by threshold, the closing operation, and floodfill to generate a saliency map where the contours of all objects are reinforced. Compared to R-CNN, the using of a saliency map greatly reduces the number of proposal regions, thus improving the efficiency. After this, we find the contours of objects and the minimum rectangles enclosing objects to extract proposed regions. Then, we prepare a negative dataset consisting of different types of backgrounds including the land, grass land and concrete. And for a positive dataset, we prepare images of aircraft in different angles and different sizes. To add more variation data into the dataset, we also use methods of augmentation like elastic distortion and perspective transforms. Then, we train a CNN model using the prepared dataset, which can tell whether a proposed region contains aircraft, after training. At last, we use a method named recall to evaluate the performance of the scheme, attaining an average recall of 0.7217, which shows the rate of aircraft successfully detected in all aircraft.

We develop two types of simple population-based search algorithms that model two types of scale-free behaviors of individuals. The scale-free behavior is a particular behavior of individuals of species that search for food not cooperatively but independently. One type of the scale-free behaviors is that a moving distance of an individual from the present food source follows a power low distribution, which is called the spatial scale-free behavior. The other is that a staying duration of an individual at the preset food source follows a power low distribution, which is called the temporal scale-free behavior. We assume static and dynamic problems in which a position of the best food source (the global optimum) is not changed and changed, respectively. In addition, we assume a special event that individuals near the best food source are probabilistically eliminated. We compare the two search algorithms and show that they are complementary with respect to suitable problems. Therefore, we develop a search algorithm that initially includes both types of individuals in a population and evolutionarily adaptively increases an appropriate type of individuals in it. The algorithm is shown to be not the best but work quite well for any problems used.

The timing, rate, and magnitude of rapid sea-level rise during Meltwater Pulse 1B (MWP-1B, ~11.45-11.1 ka) remain controversial. Robust constraints on past MWPs are crucial to future predictions of global ice sheet instability. Using 154 new and existing U/Th and calibrated C-AMS dates from coral, algae, and microbialites recovered during Integrated Ocean Drilling program Expedition 325, this study reconstructs reef development and relative sea-level (RSL) rise on the Great Barrier Reef (GBR). We identify 107 in situ RSL index points while refining estimates of vertical accretion and paleowater depth. Results show RSL rise during MWP-1B did not exceed 10.2-7.7 m or rates of 30-23 mm/yr, and was likely less. The GBR did not drown, indicating resilience to MWP-1B. These findings are more consistent with Tahiti and other Pacific records and do not support the Barbados record of MWP-1B as an abrupt step in global sea level, with a magnitude > 11 m.
