MOOCs are one of the developments or impacts of e-learning or online learning. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is one of the choices for students to increase their knowledge through non-formal channels. Our research aims to determine the level of readiness of students regarding MOOC learning and opportunities for utilizing recommendation systems in students' decision-making regarding selecting MOOCs that suit their interests and needs. We conducted a survey regarding the constraints and needs of learner readiness through 5 aspects, namely 1) technical aspect, (2) social aspect, (3) communication aspect, (4) lecture readiness aspect, and (5) online discussion. The results of this research show that the main challenges that MOOC participants may face in a MOOC environment are Technical Aspects (28.25%), Social Aspects (21.47%), and Communication Aspects (18.93%). Meanwhile, the greatest strength of online learning in the MOOC environment is the social aspect (21%), the most influential and continued with technical and other aspects. Meanwhile, the lecture readiness aspect is quite good, and the online discussion aspect is the biggest aspect that influences the success of MOOC learning. Other results of this research indicate the importance of a recommendation system for MOOC students to make it easier for students to choose the right MOOC according to their interests and needs. © 2023 IEEE.

Polymer-based circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)materials with the advantage of diversified structure,easy fabrication,high thermal stability,and tunable properties have garnered considerable ***,adequate and precise tuning over CPL in polymer-based materials remains challenging due to the difficulty in regulating chiral ***,visualized full-color CPL is achieved by doping red,green,and blue quantum dots(QDs)into reconfigurable blue phase liquid crystal elastomers(BPLCEs).In contrast to the CPL signal observed in cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers(CLCEs),the chiral 3D cubic superstructure of BPLCEs induces an opposite CPL ***,this effect is entirely independent of photonic bandgaps(PBGs)and results in a high glum value,even without matching between PBGs and the emission bands of ***,the lattice structure of the BPLCEs can be reversibly switched via mechanical stretching force,inducing on-off switching of the CPL signals,and these variations can be further fixed using dynamic disulfide bonds in the ***,the smart polymer-based CPL systems using the BPLCEs for anti-counterfeiting and information encryption have been demonstrated,suggesting the great potential of the BPLCEs-based CPL active materials.

The Internet of Things (IoT) spreading requires an interconnection scheme to connect to each IoT device over the Internet. However, the Internet has several issues about accessible difficulty due to the Network Address Port Translation (NAPT) technology, the interoperability between IPv4 and IPv6, and disconnection due to mobility. As a technique for solving these issues, the authors have developed CYber PHysical Over-lay Network over Internet Communication (CYPHONIC) that supports accessibility and seamless mobility over the Internet. Since CYPHONIC nodes typically implement the full IP stack, including IPv4 and IPv6, CYPHONIC supports virtual IPv6 communication over physical IPv4/IPv6 networks. The virtual IPv6 communication provides inter-connectivity among CYPHONIC nodes over the Internet. The conventional implementation for CYPHONIC used ruby language to make a scalable performance. On the contrary, it also suffers from low packet throughput. This paper introduces the detailed implementation of the simple prototype system that supports a primary communication mechanism of CYPHONIC based on Go to increase performance. The developed prototype system consists of cloud service for authentification, CYPHONIC node management, packet relay among CYPHONIC nodes, and client service for CYPHONIC nodes. The evaluation results show that the prototype cloud service can handle increased signaling requests from the CYPHONIC nodes. We also confirmed that CYPHONIC nodes could communicate with sufficient communication quality. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the activation functions appropriate to detect bacteria from Gram stained smears images by YOLOv8. First, we detect bacteria by replacing all the occurrences of the default activation function SiLU at the convolution layers in YOLOv8 with other activation functions. Next, by focusing on the activation functions providing higher performance than SiLU to detect bacteria, we investigate which of occurrences of SiLU in several convolution layers in YOLOv8 replacing with the activation functions improves the results to detect bacteria. © 2024 IEEE.

Negation handling is often overlooked in Indonesian sentiment analysis, making it difficult to automatically and accurately determine the polarity of sentences containing negation words. Negation is a challenging issue in natural language processing, as it can drastically alter the meaning of a sentence. For example, common Indonesian negation words such as “tidak” (no/not), “belum” (not yet), or “jangan” (do not) can reverse the sentiment polarity in a text. Previous studies have proposed rule-based approaches, relying on linguistic rules or dependency parse trees to handle negation. However, negation is a complex problem that cannot be effectively addressed by simple rules alone, as they often lack flexibility in handling diverse sentence structures and negation complexities. Therefore, a more dynamic approach is needed, such as combining a dependency parser with an embedding layer, which can map syntactic relationships between words and learn vector representations of negation. This allows the model to flexibly determine the scope of negation words, enabling more accurate sentiment analysis even in complex sentences. This study evaluates the impact of negation handling on a transformer-based model, specifically XLNet, in Indonesian sentiment analysis. Using the proposed method, the model's F1 score increased by 2.13%, from 71.42% to 73.55%, compared to the baseline model. This demonstrates that the proposed negation handling strategy enhances sentiment prediction accuracy, making the model more effective at handling texts with negation.

In this paper, we detect bacteria from Gram stained smears images by the object detectors of SSD, M2Det, RT-DETR and YOLOv8. Then, we show that SSD and M2Det are not appropriate for detecting bacteria. Also we show that RT-DETR with pre-training and the variation of YOLOv8 shifting convolution layers are more appropriate to detect bacteria than standard YOLOv8. © 2024 IEEE.

Research shows that in 2018, there are about 8.4 billion spam messages in China (360 Internet Security Center), which focuses on bank fraud, false online shopping on the Internet, telecommunications fraud, etc. China's current status of spam messages, the black interest chain of spam messages, the lack of legal protection, the increasingly changeable types of SMS, the continuous improvement of delivery methods, the changeable contents of spam messages and the various types of spam messages. Some bad organizations even collect spam messages through various channels Collect personal mobile phone information and sell mobile phone information to businesses and business personnel to obtain illegal benefits. At the same time, businesses seek benefits by sending spam short interest such as fraud and advertising, these methods endangers the information security and broke the daily life of the users. Based on the text content of SMS, this paper establishes a recognition model to accurately identify spam SMS, so as to solve the problem of spam SMS filtering. Using python programming, Gaussian naive Bayes is used to realize text classification, and a high classification accuracy is achieved. © 2022 IEEE.

As the need for achieving optimal performance in prediction models, several recent and complex models have been developed. However, many of these models operate as black boxes, providing little insight into their predictive results. In recent years, three gradient-boosting methods based on Decision Trees have been recommended, i.e., XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM. These methods have proven to deliver competitive performance with fast training times. Nevertheless, in critical domains like security, there is a growing need for increased transparency among stakeholders. One pressing concern in the security field is the proliferation of phishing websites. To address this issue, we propose an explainable machine learning-based approach using gradient-boosting methods with hyperparameter optimization on three phishing website datasets. Our best methods surpass the state-of-the-art phishing website detection methods, achieving accuracy rates of 97.45%, 99.16%, and 97.85% for the UCI (2015), Mendeley (2018), and Mendeley (2020) datasets, respectively. Subsequently, we implement posthoc explainability using SHAP and LIME for the selected dataset. The experimental results indicate that three features, i.e., length_url, directory_length, and time_domain_activation, are consistently identified as the most influential features in the dataset. Moreover, our proposed approach demonstrates promising results for detecting phishing websites with both high accuracy and explainability. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to compare rooted labeled trees (trees, for short), in this paper, we introduce an ancestral-path descendant-labels (APDL, for short) histogram distance as the L1 distance between histograms of triples consisting of the path from the root to v, the label of v and the multiset of labels in the descendant of v for every vertex v. Then, we show that the APDL histogram distance can be computed in linear time with respect to the number of vertices in trees and it is a metric. Furthermore, we compare APDL histogram distance with the isolated-subtree distance for real data. © 2024 IEEE.
