A central goal of evolutionary biology is to explain the origins and distribution of diversity across life. Beyond species or genetic diversity, we also observe diversity in the circuits (genetic or otherwise) underlying complex functional traits. However, while the theory behind the origins and maintenance of genetic and species diversity has been studied for decades, theory concerning the origin of diverse functional circuits is still in its infancy. It is not known how many different circuit structures can implement any given function, which evolutionary factors lead to different circuits, and whether the evolution of a particular circuit was due to adaptive or non-adaptive processes. Here, we use digital experimental evolution to study the diversity of neural circuits that encode motion detection in digital (artificial) brains. We find that evolution leads to an enormous diversity of potential neural architectures encoding motion detection circuits, even for circuits encoding the exact same function. Evolved circuits vary in both redundancy and complexity (as previously found in genetic circuits) suggesting that similar evolutionary principles underlie circuit formation using any substrate. We also show that a simple (designed) motion detection circuit that is optimally-adapted gains in complexity when evolved further, and that selection for mutational robustness led this gain in complexity. Development of mobile-based health center information system with feature-oriented software development (case study in North Kuta health center)

Health center is a district/city official technical unit that responsible for handling health development. At North Kuta Health Center, the medical record has been managed using a web-based application information system. Most of the patients access this system via smartphone. However, the system interface is not optimal if accessed via smartphone, such as the buttons on the system are covered by other interface elements and image sizes exceed the smartphone screen. For this reason, a mobile-based information system was developed from the existing health center system. When developing the system, a Feature-Oriented Software Development (FOSD) method was applied. The FOSD method applied the stages of domain analysis, domain design and specifications, domain implementation, product configuration, and generation. The domain analysis stage produced a needs analysis. At the domain design and specification stage, requirements analysis was processed into system design. The system design was created into a system prototype at the domain implementation stage. At the product configuration and generation stages, the system prototype was tested with User Acceptance Test (UAT) and running time. Running time testing shows the average time needed by the prototype system to complete each process was 432 ms. The UAT test shows that the prototype system was running well under the health service business process at the North Kuta Health Center. The system prototype has also provided convenience in the operation of health services in the North Kuta Health Center.

E-Report is developed based on the web to make it easier in preparing students' assessment reports in the form of rating reports, competency achievement reports, and ledgers. Even, many high schools/vocational schools in Bali have not implemented the E-Report. Implementation of cognitive walkthrough techniques, heuristic evaluation, and users' experience questionnaire in this research aimed to find out the results of evaluating user experience from the aspects of effectiveness, efficiency, user satisfaction, and recommendations for improvement. Effectiveness and efficiency were calculated by Cognitive Walkthrough techniques (CW), user satisfaction by user experience questionnaire techniques (UEQ) and recommendations for improvement, obtained from experts who discuss aspects of usability with Heuristic Evaluation techniques and Cognitive Walkthrough data. Based on the results obtained in terms of users, E-Report has been ineffective and inefficient. While in terms of user satisfaction, respondents were satisfied with Applications E-Report. This is because the effectiveness of a task that has a very large error and failure in one of the features as well as the clarity of results that poor user satisfaction can affect processing time. Therefore, evaluation of user experience based on aspects of usability in the E-Report has not met the criteria for products with good usability. Improvements made on the start page, page values, page value results were done through a photo frame. Therefore, identifying the problems from these three sources can further optimize the usability and improve user experience on E-Report.

Android-based mobile academic information using push notification for supporting the student’s academic activities: A case study

This research aimed to build a prototype model for android-based mobile academic information using push notification for supporting the student’s academic activities. The prototype model purpose is to build mechanism of information spread from university to its students rapidly. Therefore, the students can receive the information as soon as possible as long as they access their smartphone. The prototype model is using prototyping method for developing the mock-up and several processes namely application architecture design, push service configuration, prototype implementation, and testing. This prototype model was tested using the system usability scale (SUS) Brooke version and a questionnaire with Likert scale. The testing results reveal that this prototype model is feasible and 87.88% of the respondents definitely agree that this mechanism can potentially help their academic activities. This result was influenced with the limitation of respondents and the difficulty of installed the client side application manually. The prototype model can be the model for university information academic system for delivering the information to their students effectively.

Analysis of digital identity transactions with Ethereum blockchain ethereum in a case study of credit applications in banking

The falsification and embezzlement of personal data are still found in several cases in the past year. The reason is personal data in physical form are easily manipulated and difficult to be distinguished from the original. The most detrimental impact is if a person's personal data is used for credit application fraud in the banking industry. Implementation of blockchain technologies, one of which is Ethereum, allows the use of contracts as a rule that must be fulfilled by the parties involved. All stored transactions are perpetual (cannot be deleted or changed), easy to be audited, transparent, and distributed at each participating node. This study aimed to develop a smart contract for personal data transactions with a case study of credit submission at the Bank. The authors developed a trial application using the prototype method in the process of assessment. Assessment was done by black box testing method in the scope of the lab with 10 credit submission data to be transacted. It is resulting in all credit submission data can be transacted and stored in the smart contract. The interview resulted in an opinion that blockchain technology can be used to store personal data and submit credit submissions at the Bank. The results of the analysis on assessments and interviews conclude that blockchain technology can be used as a medium to store personal data and secure credit applications. For future research, testing transactions can be done on Testnet networks with changing several blocks of data.

Analysis of jejak bali virtual class using usability testing, including concurrent think aloud techniques and performance measurement techniques

Jejak Bali is a website created specifically by PUSTEKKOM to manage learning activities so Bali Provincial Education Office can carry out supervision and guidance for e-learning in Bali. Many obstacles were experienced by teachers and students when using Jejak Bali. It encouraged the design of a study looking at the usability of a system from a user perspective to increase user satisfaction. The methods used were usability testing technique, Concurrent Think Aloud, and Performance Measurement which measured the effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. The population of this study were teachers and students from SMAN 2 and SMKN 3 Denpasar. In measuring Performance Measurement and CTA, the sample used consisted of 40 participants including teachers and students as well as 86 users who used the questionnaire SUS. The results of the research were: (1) Jejak Bali, for teacher and student users, was still ineffective because there were still errors made while doing the assigned assignments, (2) Jejak Bali which was seen from the time when teacher and student users were working was still inefficient because of the differences of the significant time from the advanced group to the beginners, (3) Jejak Bali still did not meet user satisfaction as seen from the results of the SUS questionnaire recapitulation in which a teacher scored 49.0 and a student scored 48.3. Because the value obtained was below 60 in the percentile rank, so it can be concluded that Jejak Bali still did not meet usability good as seen from the results obtained.

Greybody factors for massive scalar field emitted from black holes in dRGT massive gravity

MSC Codes 83Greybody factors are transmission probabilities of the Hawking radiation, which are emitted from black holes and can be obtained from the gravitational potential of black holes. The de Rham, Gabadadze, and Tolly (dRGT) massive gravity is one of the gravity theories that modified general relativity. In this paper, we investigate the greybody factor from the massive scalar field in both the asymptotically dS and the AdS spacetime using the WKB and the rigorous bound methods. We found that the greybody factor depends on the shape of the potential as found in quantum mechanics. The higher the potential barrier, the lower the amount of the grebody factor. Interestingly, for the low multipole case, we found that there exists a critical mass which provides the maximum bound of the greybody factor. This is a crucial feature of the massive scalar field on the greybody factor from the black holes in both the asymptotically dS and the AdS spacetime. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. The swift progression of industrial technology underscores the need for adept professionals capable of skillfully implementing and managing intricate systems. Vocational education assumes a pivotal role in cultivating competent intermediaries proficient in translating theoretical knowledge into practical applications. At the core of industrial automation lies the programmable Logic Controller (PLC), a specialized digital computer that interfaces with sensors, switches, and actuators to execute real-time control programs, thus facilitating meticulous industrial processes. This study concentrates on the practical deployment of a two-floor elevator system utilizing the OMRON CP1E N30 PLC. Elevators, integral to contemporary structures, mandate precision for secure vertical conveyance. Leveraging input signals from elevator buttons, sensors, and switches, the PLC orchestrates efficient motor control and dependable door operations. This hands-on application underscores the PLC’s significance within real-time control contexts. Nonetheless, Vocational Higher Education graduates frequently grapple with the challenge of transitioning to industry settings due to limited practical exposure. This partnership harmonizes with the center’s objective of enriching vocational education by integrating sophisticated technologies like PLCs, equipping the workforce with the acumen to bridge the gap between theoretical foundations and the pragmatic demands of industry.

The utilization of hydroponic cultivation in agriculture is increasing due to its high productivity even in limited spaces. However, in practice, monitoring and controlling nutrients in hydroponic systems often require intensive human supervision and intervention. This issue can be addressed through technological advancements, particularly with the adoption of microcontrollers, sensors, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Previous research has developed IoT-based monitoring and control systems for DFT hydroponics using the Blynk platform. This study aims to develop an IoT-based nutrient monitoring and automation system for floating raft hydroponics. Floating raft hydroponics was chosen for its simplicity, lower installation costs, and space optimization. The system developed in this study uses the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor with an average error of 1.229%, the DS18B20 water temperature sensor with an error of 0.415%, and the TDS sensor with an error of 2.055%. The sensor and actuator measurement data are presented via the Antares Web. This research has the potential to minimize the necessity for manual intervention in hydroponic systems, thereby enhancing both efficiency and consistency in nutrient delivery. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Relationship with customers is one of the most crucial factors in business continuity and development. Many current businesses have started delving into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to establish and maintain their sales and customer relationships. This research was conducted on one retail company that implements CRM but experiencing a gap in their unit sales performance between their targeted sales and the realization. This study aims to analyze the gaps causing factors using Factor Analysis Method, constructing a suitable regression model, and proposing the company's necessary strategy. The research was conducted quantitatively using a questionnaire from 264 respondents. The result of this study showed that there are five causing factors which are CRM Reliability, Underutilization of CRM, CRM Capability, CRM Unpreparedness, and Customer Relation Quality, as well as forming a regression model of the company's CRM performance.
