Implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in primary schools

The COVID-19 pandemic requires face-to-face learning to shift to online or distance learning. Therefore, the elementary school, which is the most basic level of education affected by this phenomenon, where this research is carried out. This study aimed to analyze the process of implementing online learning, the supporting and inhibiting factors for teachers, students, and parents in implementing online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, good practices for online learning were also analyzed in this study to understand these phenomena in elementary schools. The research method utilized descriptive qualitative research and was performed at a private primary school in Yogyakarta. The subjects consisted of teachers, students, and parents that were involved in the online learning process. Online questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. The results of this study show the enormous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the learning process. Learning that is usually carried out face-to-face (conventional) has now been converted into online learning in elementary school.

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based genomics data have a huge potential to be used in transcriptomic profiling of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) to study the biosynthesis mechanism behind it. The high dimensionality of NGS data is the main challenge in performing the data analysis to extract useful information. In this workflow pipeline, memory-efficient Linux-based software such as HISAT2 and HTSeq are utilized to process the raw NGS data. Furthermore, Differential Expression Gene (DEG) list can be obtained by performing advanced analysis to the aligned Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) sequence using the edgeR protocol. This DEG list is one of the main inputs of biological pathway analysis that can be done in DAVID and PANTHER web-based software. Both tools generate a different pathway result related to inflammation.

Hydrolysis of middle chain fatty acid by lipase from Brevibacillus sp

Lipase is a hydrolytic enzyme that has been used widely in numerous industries, such as detergent, food, cosmetics, and pharmacy. The enzyme can catalyze esterification, interesterification, and transesterification reactions in a nonaqueous environment. Lipase could catalyze the hydrolysis reaction of fatty acids. Therefore, it can be used to produce medium-chain fatty acids from vegetable oils. The composting process occurs at various temperatures, resulting in a unique environment that can be used to obtain thermophilic microorganisms that produce enzymes. Lipase-producing bacteria from domestic compost were successfully cultivated in the culture broth and identified as Brevibacillus sp. The objective of this research is to purify and characterize enzymes isolated from Brevibacillus bacteria. The microbes were isolated from domestic waste compost at the peak of the thermogenic phase. Extracellular lipase was produced in nutrient broth and purified using acetone precipitation and anion exchange chromatography on a DEAE-Sepharose Fast Flow matrix. An extracellular lipase was purified 5.1 folds with an overall yield of 15%. Further purification of the enzyme using ion-exchange chromatography revealed that the enzyme had a molecular weight of 55 kDa. Characterization of optimum pH, temperature, and substrate specificity was carried out against the purified lipase. The optimum activity of the enzyme was at 65-70°C and pH 9, suggesting that it is a thermostable and alkali-tolerant lipase. The enzyme showed the highest activity towards p-nitrophenyl decanoate and laurate, respectively. Protein purification using acetone precipitation and anion exchange chromatography produces lipases that are resistant to high temperatures and are active in alkaline pH. Lipase produced from Brevibacillus sp. also has specificity towards medium-chain fatty acids, thus it can be used in industries that use medium-chain fatty acids.

Biodiversity of fish resources in Sungsang Estuaries of South Sumatra

The purpose of this study was to assess the fish biodiversity of Sungsang estuaries in South Sumatra. The species diversity, evenness, dominance, degree of similarity, and composition of fish communities as well as some physicochemical conditions were analyzed in order to establish the baseline data inventory of Sungsang estuaries. The results show that all of the physico-chemical parameters were in good condition for fish sustainability. Forty-eight (48) species of fish belonging to 29 families of freshwater, brackish water and marine sources were encountered in the water bodies. Johnius belangerii, Johnius amblycephalus and Setipinna taty were species with a relatively high abundance, but the appearance frequency of these species was high, medium and low, respectively. The value of the Shannon's diversity index for fish resources was classified as moderate (H'=1.477-2.708). The index value of evenness was classified as high (J'= 0.616 – 0.876), while the index value of dominance was classified as low (D = 0.097 – 0.382). This result indicate that the species diversity was good enough, the species spread was evenly distributed, that there was a stable community structure and no domination.

Ambiguity in the fish naming is present in several fish species database, especially for fish in Siluformes order. To fix the ambiguity, a visual intelligent system is needed to automate the fish naming correction in the database. In this study, we developed a deep-learning-based model as the core of the intelligent system. The proposed model achieved 89% accuracy for the classification of three genera in Siluformes order: Mystus, Hemibagrus, and Glyptothorax.

Structured Downsampling for Fast, Memory-efficient Curation of Online Data Streams

Operations over data streams typically hinge on efficient mechanisms to aggregate or summarize history on a rolling basis. For high-volume data steams, it is critical to manage state in a manner that is fast and memory efficient - particularly in resource-constrained or real-time contexts. Here, we address the problem of extracting a fixed-capacity, rolling subsample from a data stream. Specifically, we explore "data stream curation" strategies to fulfill requirements on the composition of sample time points retained. Our "DStream" suite of algorithms targets three temporal coverage criteria: (1) steady coverage, where retained samples should spread evenly across elapsed data stream history;(2) stretched coverage, where early data items should be proportionally favored;and (3) tilted coverage, where recent data items should be proportionally favored. For each algorithm, we prove worst-case bounds on rolling coverage quality. In contrast to previous work by Moreno, Rodriguez Papa, and Dolson (2024), which dynamically scales memory use to guarantee a specified level of coverage quality, here we focus on the more practical, application-driven case of maximizing coverage quality given a fixed memory capacity. As a core simplifying assumption, we restrict algorithm design to a single update operation: writing from the data stream to a calculated buffer site - with data never being read back, no metadata stored (e.g., sample timestamps), and data eviction occurring only implicitly via overwrite. Drawing only on primitive, low-level operations and ensuring full, overhead-free use of available memory, this "DStream" framework ideally suits domains that are resource-constrained (e.g., embedded systems), performance-critical (e.g., real-time), and fine-grained (e.g., individual data items as small as single bits or bytes). In the industrial era 4.0, it has surpassed increasingly complex technological advances in the information system that required a very high infrastructure and facilities and prevented fraud. Counterfeiting is a procedure following an entity, statistics, or documents (observe forged documents) with plans to deceive. Falsification of extensive information certificates is exacerbated by the current economic situation in Indonesia, which is currently occurring due to the widespread epidemic, namely COVID-19. The spread of the COVID-19 outbreak has had a significant impact and changes in all sectors, especially certificate forgery in Indonesia. The imitation of busy certificates is the main focus of this journal, focusing on journal publications combined with Blockchain technology. The sophistication of blockchain technology as authentication is comparing two or more items or additional tests to ensure the accuracy, correctness, or correctness of the information. This method uses qualitative methods with data sources based on case studies in controlled supervision with the basic concept of cryptography as the basis of analysis. From the decisions made, it is hoped that this will minimize the level of forgery of certificates widely measured during the COVID-19 era.

A web-based management information system (MIS) plays significant role as a tool to manage data and information and produce data-driven reports. Such roles are important in decision-making process. In this current study, a web-based MIS for partnership purposes within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural science Universitas Negeri Semarang has been developed. The development of the MIS aims to better manage the archiving of partnership documents. In addition, this development is also useful for supporting the monitoring and auditing of partnership activities within the faculty. The MIS was created using an iterative waterfall technique that may be easily expanded in the future. Bootstrap was used as a front-end framework to create the web-based system, while the database management system used MySQL. This paper outlines the structure of the system in order to provide a portrait of some features available to the end-users.

There are cases of patients with Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) which are not handled quickly and appropriately at emergency department (ED), thus there should be a medium that can assist medical personnel in making decisions. This research proposes the development model of Clinical Group Decision Support Systems (CGDSS) named KLISPA models. KLISPA model can accommodate a screening process to the working diagnosis process of ARI by integrating Case Based Reasoning (CBR) and Groups Decision Support System (GDSS). Screening process completed by CBR using Nearest Neighbor method. This process helps medical personnel such as nurses, co asst doctors, and general practitioners to do screening to patients for determining the early solution to the disease. Meanwhile, the working diagnosis solved by GDSS uses the methods of Eckenrode, Extended TOPSIS and BoostVote. This process accommodates the needs of joint decision-making which involves groups of Decision Maker (DM) consisting of pediatrician, child lung specialist doctor, and the radiologist doctor.

Swimming pool is one of the means of sports and play that is fun. Swimming pools must also be considered clean. In order to be replaced with new water. The goal is so that pool users are not infected with infectious diseases due to the dirty water inside the pool. The Mamdani method is the most common method when discussing fuzzy methodology. It was Ebrahim Mamdani who first proposed this method in 1975 when building a steam engine and boiler control system. Mamdani uses a collection of IF-THEN rules obtained from experienced operators / experts. Mamdani's work is actually based on the article 'The Father of Fuzzy, Lotfi A. Zadeh: fuzzy algorithms for complex systems and decision processes.
