The paper aims to optimize the energy consumption of industrial robots, with the goal of reducing operational costs and improving the sustainability of the production process. The methods discussed include using energy-efficient components, reducing idle times, and optimizing robot trajectory programming to minimize unnecessary movements. The project presents a simulation of an industrial process for sorting and depalletizing parts using a KUKA KR 4 Agilus robot, along with Arduino development boards for control and coordination. A color sensor system is employed for object detection, optimizing the robot’s movements based on the data collected. To analyze energy and time efficiency, two movement routines were compared: one based on SLIN and the other on SPTP.

This article presents a study on the use of photovoltaic panels for storing electrical energy intended to power an HVAC unit placed in a residential room. To highlight this aspect, two specific scenarios will be considered. Thus, we aim to analyze whether the generated and stored energy is sufficient to fulfil the thermal comfort requirements of the user, while also considering the primary objective of minimizing energy consumption. To achieve this goal, the HVAC unit will be controlled by implementing a fuzzy system that determines its optimal activation based on the comfort level obtained from the user. The fuzzy system presents as inputs both environmental parameters and specific personal perception parameters of the user. The research results provide an insight into the efficiency of implementing photovoltaic energy storage systems for residential applications and propose solutions for optimizing energy consumption in the context of ensuring adequate thermal comfort. Thus, the study contributes to the development of sustainable and personalized energy solutions for smart homes.

Seizure is an abnormal electrical activity of the brain. Neurologists can diagnose the seizure using several methods such as neurological examination, blood tests, computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalogram (EEG). Medical data, such as the EEG signal, usually includes a number of features and attributes that do not contains important information. This paper proposes an automatic seizure classification system based on extracting the most significant EEG features for seizure diagnosis. The proposed algorithm consists of five steps. The first step is the channel selection to minimize dimensionality by selecting the most affected channels using the variance parameter. The second step is the feature extraction to extract the most relevant features, 11 features, from the selected channels. The third step is to average the 11 features extracted from each channel. Next, the fourth step is the classification of the average features using the classification step. Finally, cross-validation and testing the proposed algorithm by dividing the dataset into training and testing sets. This paper presents a comparative study of seven classifiers. These classifiers were tested using two different methods: random case testing and continuous case testing. In the random case process, the KNN classifier had greater precision, specificity, positive predictability than the other classifiers. Still, the ensemble classifier had a higher sensitivity and a lower miss-rate (2.3%) than the other classifiers. For the continuous case test method, the ensemble classifier had higher metric parameters than the other classifiers. In addition, the ensemble classifier was able to detect all seizure cases without any mistake. © 2021, The Author(s).

During the last few years, there has been a growing interest in the topic of using natural or synthetic esters as an alternative to mineral oils in oil transformers due to the easier way to obtain them and their ability to exhibit better electrical properties. In addition, more and more researchers are describing in their work that doping esters with nanoparticles is capable of further improving these properties. Therefore, in the current work, it was decided to see what effect the addition of a hydrophobic carbon shell iron nanoparticle to ORLEN mineral oil and Midel 7131 synthetic ester would have on selected electrical parameters of the insulating fluid, i.e. breakdown voltage and electrical strength.

Due to the development of hacking programs, it has become easy to penetrate systems. Hence, there is a need for strong security mechanisms. The use of traditional passwords has become insufficient to secure systems. Biometric authentication is now widely used for security applications, and it has proven to be superior compared to traditional authentication methods. However, two issues need to be considered in biometric systems. The first is not to keep biometric data in its original form in the database. If biometric traits are hacked, they will no longer be of use. Biometric data should be kept in cancelable forms for reuse. The second issue is the reliance on a single biometric, which limits the verification accuracy. This can be solved by using a multimodal biometric system. Using steganography and cryptography, this paper introduces a cancelable multimodal biometric system. As voiceprints, facial images, and fingerprint images are used. In this paper, the verification is performed through the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) of the voiceprints. Steganography is used as a tool to secure features extracted from voiceprints by embedding them into the facial image using block-based singular value decomposition (BSVD). Double random phase encoding (DRPE) is utilized as an encryption algorithm to generate the final cancelable templates. To increase the level of system security, fingerprint images are used as random phase masks (RPMs). Verification is performed by estimating the correlation between registered and test MFCCs. The correlation value is then compared with a threshold value, which is calculated using the distribution curves for the genuine and imposter correlations. Equal error rate (EER) values close to zero and an area under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AROC) that is close to one are obtained from the simulation results, demonstrating the outstanding performance of the suggested system. This paper proposes a RISC-V extension, named SigWavy, meant to optimize the PWM control for general purpose or application specific designs. The RISC-V extension named above is a PWM control Unit with a dedicated ISA extension set designed for configuring and driving up to 32 PWM signals. The extension is integrated into RiscPwm, an updated version of our previous work, the RisCanFd SoC, for taking advantage of CAN-FD, a massively used protocol in the areas of automation and mobility. Being configured with the dedicated ISA extension or with parameters directly extracted from CAN-FD commands, the proposed solution manages to configure/reconfigure PWM channels between 4.79x and 9.18x times faster than an ARM Cortex-M7 processor, although our SoC operates with a 6x lower frequency.

As corona virus disease(COVID-19)is still an ongoing global outbreak,countries around the world continue to take precautions and measures to control the spread of the *** of the excessive number of infected patients and the resulting deficiency of testing kits in hospitals,a rapid,reliable,and automatic detection of COVID-19 is in extreme need to curb the number of *** analyzing the COVID-19 chest X-ray images,a novel metaheuristic approach is proposed based on hybrid dipper throated and particle swarm *** lung region was segmented from the original chest X-ray images and augmented using various transformation ***,the augmented images were fed into the VGG19 deep network for feature *** the other hand,a feature selection method is proposed to select the most significant features that can boost the classification ***,the selected features were input into an optimized neural network for *** neural network is optimized using the proposed hybrid *** experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved 99.88%accuracy,outperforming the existing COVID-19 detection *** addition,a deep statistical analysis is performed to study the performance and stability of the proposed *** results confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach.
