In this paper, we propose a model for the thrust coefficient of propellers that can take into account cross-influence between adjacent propellers. The aerodynamic interaction between propellers in multirotor aerial vehicles reduces the thrust they can produce. The influence between propellers depends on their relative positioning and orientation, which are taken into account by the proposed model. It is validated on measurements collected by a force sensor mounted on a propeller for different configurations of the adjacent propellers in a support structure. In this work, we focus on configurations with small relative orientations. Results show that the proposed model outperforms the traditional constant model in terms of thrust prediction on the data we collected, and it performs better than other models with fewer parameters, being the only one with less than 10% maximum percentage error.

This work presents techniques for scheduling the position controller gains for a class of fully-actuated morphing multi-rotor UAVs that use synchronized tilting to change their actuation capabilities. The feasible set of forces and torques that can be produced by the platform changes with the tilting angle, thus the tracking and disturbance rejection capabilities also change. To exploit the platform limits, two methods are proposed for gain scheduling using a simplified example, then one method is tested in simulation with an omnidirectional morphing multi-rotor (OmniMorph). The simulation results show that the developed techniques achieve consistent position tracking performance along the range of tilting angles when rejecting step disturbance forces of values close to the maximum force capabilities. The proposed methods offer a trade-off between simplicity and accuracy, that could be potentially applied for any multi-rotor with synchronized tilting capabilities. Due to the vagueness and uncertainties due to the coronavirus, it is crucial to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the World Health Organization and the authorities. Therefore an effective control system is required that minimizes the vagueness and uncertainties of people who are on the front line during the period of this pandemic checking the entering persons in an indoor area where it is necessary to maintain a distance of six feet from one another to avoid the spread of coronavirus. In this research work, a robust and efficient system has been proposed that takes protective mask and feverishness values as input and applies them using the fuzzy logic algorithm. If these input values are according to the rules defined in the system, then the door will open as an output. Otherwise, the door will not open. It is, finally, analyzing the output values. This fuzzy model had been implemented using a microcontroller. The genuine difference in the duty cycle of the microcontroller’s output pulse was measured using a 100 MHz digital oscilloscope. Our proposed system was compared with different systems reported in the literature. This work reduces the human effort as well as the negligence of people and builds up the management system without the labor in a mint. © 2023 IEEE.

In an era when healthcare was becoming increasingly crucial, many developing nations, including Yemen, struggled to provide basic medical services. Nearly half of Yemen's population lacked access to adequate healthcare, with the situation being even more dire in rural and remote areas. While sectors such as industry, agriculture, and environmental science rapidly embraced technological advancements, healthcare systems in these regions lagged, with limited research addressing affordable and accessible solutions. This gap was further highlighted by the global healthcare crisis and the urgent need for innovative, cost-effective approaches. In response, this study outlined the creation and deployment of a cost-effective health monitoring system utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to address these challenges. The system was designed to monitor vital signs, specifically heart rate (HR), using an Arduino Uno and ECG sensor, at a meager total cost of $27.25. It provided real-time monitoring for situations requiring immediate intervention. Power consumption tests demonstrated that the system operated efficiently, consuming between 1.061 and 1.35 watts, making it practical and affordable. Additionally, the potential integration of deep learning techniques promises to enhance the system's accuracy and efficiency. Although this study focused on IoT-based health monitoring, its potential extended beyond this, offering broader implications for future healthcare technology solutions.

Seizure detection and prediction are a very hot topics in medical signal processing due to their importance in automatic medical diagnosis. This paper presents three efficient frameworks for applications related to electroencephalogram (EEG) signal processing. The first one is an automatic seizure detection framework based on the utilization of scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) as an extraction tool. The second one depends on the utilization of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and an artificial neural network for epileptic seizure prediction. Finally, an automated patient-specific framework for channel selection and seizure prediction is presented based on FFT. The simulation results show the success of the proposed frameworks for automated medical diagnosis. © 2021, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Status Identification plays an important role in TCM diagnosis and prescription recommendation. In this paper, we propose a method of Status Identification via Graph Attention Network, named SIGAT, which captures the complex medical correlation in the symptom-syndrome graph. More specifically, we construct a symptom-syndrome graph in that symptoms are taken as nodes and the edges are connected by syndromes. And we realize automatic induction of symptom to state element classification by using the attention mechanism and perceptron classifier. Finally, we conduct experiments by using hamming loss, coverage, 0/1 error, ranking loss, average precision, macro-F1 score, and micro-F1 score as evaluation metrics. The results demonstrate that the SIGAT model outperforms comparison algorithms on Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescription Dictionary dataset. The case study results suggest that the proposed method is a valuable way to identify the state element. The application of the graph attention network classification algorithm in TCM health status identification is of high precision and methodological feasibility. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Periodic-Enhanced Informer Model for Short-Term Wind Power Forecasting Using SCADA Data

Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems can collect abundant information about wind farm operation and environment. To better make use of SCADA data, a periodic-enhanced informer model for short-term wind power forecasting using scada data is proposed. Firstly, to effectively filter out noise in SCADA data, a v-p curve-based method is adopted by incorporating a quartile approach to remove sparse outliers;a density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is then employed to eliminate stacked outliers from the power curve. Secondly, a multi-feature input set selection method based on Maximization Information Coefficient is introduced to make better use of the SCADA system data by reducing the number of features. Thirdly, a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) is designed to extract the scalar projection of the input set, followed by fusing the local time stamp and global time stamp to build the periodic information enhanced prediction model embedding layer. Subsequently, the enhanced input set is fed into an informer model to predict future wind power. Finally, considering the multiple temporal scales structure characteristics present in the dataset, a multi-scale deep fusion module is established in the informer model to deeply integrate the features of different scales. It can simultaneously avoid the resource waste and overfitting problems caused by increasing the network depth. The experimental results, which are obtained from several deep learning methods on real SCADA data, demonstrate that the suggested approach has good predictive capability. © 2010-2012 IEEE.
