Smart agricultural systems require irrigation systems powered by renewable energy sources that are also adaptable for isolated areas without connection possibility to the electricity network or the water network. For such situations, in this paper, a solution is proposed using a wind turbine and a submersible pump to feed a water basin, subsequently irrigation is done by free fall. The developed solution is designed and simulated using a model of a medium-power wind turbine, and a battery storage element with the aim of providing the necessary electricity for irrigation of an agricultural area in Buzau, where there is a water deficit. © 2023 IEEE.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) represents a significant shift in network architecture, providing exceptional programmability, flexibility, and simplified management. However, this paradigm shift introduces a unique set of security challenges that must be addressed to fully realize the potential of SDN. This paper examines the security issues in SDN environments, detailing the threats and vulnerabilities at various layers of the SDN architecture, including the control plane, data plane, and application plane. Through an extensive review of current literature, critical security challenges such as controller attacks, data plane breaches, and vulnerabilities in inter-plane communications are identified. Existing security solutions and mitigation strategies, such as authentication and authorization mechanisms, encryption techniques, and intrusion detection systems, are also explored. Furthermore, the paper discusses recent advances and emerging trends in SDN security, offering insights into ongoing research and future directions. The findings underscore the importance of robust security measures in ensuring the reliability and integrity of SDN deployments, providing a foundation for future innovation and development in this dynamic field. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of a system that uses fuzzy logic in order to evaluate the thermal comfort conditions expressed by means of a score by the occupants of an office room The inputs of the system are represented by three datasets relevant to the study: the air temperature, the positioning of the occupant and the level of activity carried out by the occupant. Based on the comfort score obtained, the HVAC system located at the room level will maintain a comfortable environment. The proposed solution also contributes to the minimization of energy consumption in buildings. In order to collect the data sets necessary for the study, we used the *** module as a wearable device. © 2023 IEEE.

In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). In the second stage of research and the first variant (S2V1), the highest result of the F1 score was 0.932 and for the second variant (S2V2) F1 score was 0.930. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper details the integration of augmented reality (AR) in a new factory, focusing on enhancing maintenance efficiency and optimization. The innovative approach involves combining AR technology, an Android application, and Siemens PLCs (Programmable Logic controller), for efficient automation. The robustness of the PLC enables seamless integration within manufacturing environments, accommodating diverse programming paradigms. The software aspect features Human Machine Interface (HMI) configuration using Siemens' WinCC software, offering dynamic visualizations, alarm handling, and data logging. WinCC's scalability suits applications of varying sizes. The HMI architecture is designed for easy parameter display. The Android application, developed with Java and Python, leverages their respective strengths in Android app development and image processing. Data exchange is facilitated by OPC-UA, supporting multiple programming languages for seamless communication. The AR Teleassistance is highlighted as a revolutionary solution, fostering real-Time communication among global experts, technicians, and operators. Beyond gaming origins, AR teleassistance enhances efficiency in various sectors, minimizing downtime and facilitating global knowledge transfer. The integration of Teleassistance promotes effective collaboration between human expertise and automated systems, crucial for optimal performance in modern industrial settings. Continuous development is suggested through the addition of more 3D mechanical drawings and real-Time stock information for parts in the application, aiming for future optimization and performance enhancement. © 2024 IEEE.

Air pollution is one of the major environmental issues discussed lately due to its influence on human health. Particular attention is paid to air quality monitoring today and most developed societies have implemented weather and air quality monitoring stations in various locations inside or outside cities to monitor and reduce the effects of poor air quality. Modern standards and sensors have started to be used in recent years to monitor air quality. Conventional air quality monitoring systems, on the other hand, are not able to provide real-time air quality data with acceptable spatial and temporal resolutions at a low cost, so the challenge is to achieve low-cost and energy-independent solutions. Using modern technologies, e.g. Internet of-things (IoT), an original approach is proposed for building an air quality monitoring system considering low cost equipment and efficient energy autonomous approach. Smart cities have successfully implemented air quality monitoring systems that combine both hardware and software. The results presented in the paper show the viability of the proposed solution, exposing the designed solution and different ways of presenting air quality monitoring. © 2023 IEEE.

This study proposes methods that can be used to examine and interpret comments that users have made after watching videos on YouTube on a particular topic. YouTube tutorials are very popular among young people. They have become an important pillar in informal education, thus contributing to the rapid acquisition of skills and knowledge. Under these circumstances, we were interested in analysing the YouTube videos comments, knowing that the platform has a continuous increase in popularity, which is also due to the opportunities of sharing them. Since ChatGPT-themed YouTube videos have seen a significant surge in popularity since 2022, we were interested to analyse some videos that approach the topics of 'ChatGPT, AI clone, AI robot and Deep Learning.' © 2024 IEEE.

Facial landmark detection (FLD) is a field of study in computer vision that specializes in detecting and tracking key points from human faces. There are many applications, such as detecting a human's head pose (position and rotation), tracking whether drivers are paying attention or not, applying augmented reality, etc. This paper proposes to evaluate and decide what are the optimal techniques of image enhancement that can be used to improve different algorithms of FLD. After proposing different pipelines of contrast enhancement and grayscale conversion to enhance the image before applying the FLD algorithm, the results show that the performance will not increase drastically if an image enhancement pipeline is used, but for the reason that this step will not consume a lot of time in the process of detection, it is a step worth considering. © 2022 IEEE.

Predicting Microbe-Disease Association Based on Heterogeneous Network and Global Graph Feature Learning

Numerous microbes inhabit human body,making a vast difference in human health. Hence, discovering associations between microbes and diseases is beneficial to disease prevention and treatment. In this study,we develop a prediction method by learning global graph feature on the heterogeneous network(called HNGFL).Firstly, a heterogeneous network is integrated by known microbe-disease associations and multiple *** on microbe Gaussian interaction profile(GIP) kernel similarity, we consider different effects of these microbes on organs in the human body to further improve microbe similarity. For disease similarity network, we combine GIP kernel similarity, disease semantic similarity and disease-symptom similarity. And then, an embedding algorithm called GraRep is used to learn global structural information for this network. According to vector feature of every node, we utilize support vector machine classifier to calculate the score for each microbe-disease pair. HNGFL achieves a reliable performance in cross validation, outperforming the compared methods. In addition, we carry out case studies of three diseases. Results show that HNGFL can be considered as a reliable method for microbe-disease association prediction.

The field of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) consists of techniques that are mainly focused on document image analysis. Aside from generating significant speedups of everyday procedures, OCR has a considerable role in the preservation of historical sources of information. Most of the World War 2 (WW2) documents are of great importance, especially with applications in virtual archives, museums, and research. The situation asks for an efficient, yet not aggressive, transcribing method using OCR tools. This paper describes an approach in the context of the given problem. The focus is oriented towards extracting the information from documents affected by their age, but with simpler structures, mainly split into paragraphs, such as letters and military reports. The approach is based on combining the results of multiple OCR engines, with the final objective of achieving better performance compared to the individual performance of each engine. © 2022 IEEE.
