In this research, nature inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithms: Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Techniques are formulated to tune optimal combinations of PID controller parameters for a quadruple tank level control application. The degree of relation of the best paring for both interacted control loops are justified by using Relative Gain Array (RGA) calculation. The overall system has been modeled and implemented in MATLAB/Simulink and performance evaluations has been done for time domain performance specifications of settling time, rise time, percentage overshoot and steady state error as comparison criterions of controllers. Accordingly, for the minimum phase case, GA tuned PID has settling time of 0.36sec and 0.31second for the tank 1 and tank 2 respectively. And PSO tuned PID controller has settling time of 0.96sec and 0.35sec for tank 1and tank 2 respectively. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of results reveals that there is fast dynamic response using GA PID relative to PSO PID even though the difference is not significant that may be due to stochastic feature of the metahueristic optimization algorithms. In summary, the optimal combination of PID controller algorithms’ parameters can give robust performance compared to PID controller designed using the classical approaches or manual tuning techniques.

An optimal modulation scheme with triple-phase-shift (TPS) control could increase the efficiency in the entire load range for a dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter under wide output voltage range conditions. Therefore, this study proposes a convergent approach to TPS mode selection, coupled with an optimal modulation scheme, ensuring the circuit’s efficiency over the entire range in the realm of a high-power and high-efficiency battery charger for electric vehicles. The convergent approach to TPS mode selection also reduces the numerous cases for small-signal analysis through general average modeling. After verifying the small-signal models under various voltage transfer ratios and load conditions to verify the stability, a converter prototype with a rated power of 15 kW is built and tested. Thus, a peak efficiency of 97.7% can be achieved. © 2024 by the authors.

In recent years,there are numerous studies on chaotic systems with special equilibrium curves having various shapes such as circle,butterfly,heart and *** paper describes a new 3-D chaotic dynamical system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed chaotic system has two quadratic,two cubic and two quartic nonlinear *** is noted that the proposed chaotic system has a hidden attractor since it has an infinite number of equilibrium *** is also established that the proposed chaotic system exhibits multi-stability with two coexisting chaotic attractors for the same parameter values but differential initial states.A detailed bifurcation analysis with respect to variations in the system parameters is portrayed for the new chaotic system with capsule equilibrium *** have shown MATLAB plots to illustrate the capsule equilibrium curve,phase orbits of the new chaotic system,bifurcation diagrams and *** an engineering application,we have proposed a speech cryptosystem with a numerical algorithm,which is based on our novel 3-D chaotic system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed speech cryptosystem follows its security evolution and implementation on Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)*** results show that the proposed encryption system utilizes 33%of the FPGA,while the maximum clock frequency is 178.28 MHz.

Our paper introduces a novel structural health monitoring (SHM) framework for preexisting surveillance camera video footage towards an automated structural engineering e-governance system in a smart city. We test our framework on a sample pole structure using a high-resolution camera and an off-the-shelf phone camera. A preliminary study suggests the efficacy of using the framework in monitoring noticeable degradation and aging in large structures in periodically captured images. Our framework is dissimilar to computer vision techniques in which deformation patterns are recognized;instead, our framework is purposed as a long term observation application in which large structures in public video surveillance footage is monitored for changes that may suggest signs of aging or degradation of a structure over a long period of time. We posit that this novel framework, with emerging technology and innovation, can pave the way to combine artificial intelligence and smart structural health monitoring techniques in a widespread, unprecedented way of ensuring safe public structures in smart cities. © 2021 IEEE.

While the $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control has found widespread application in the literature for integer-order systems, researchers have shown less interest in addressing the same issue within the fractional-order framework. In this context, this study delves into the application of $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control for the Hadamard fractional-order system (HFOS) described by the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models (TSFM). Using Lyapunov approach and by employing a matrix decoupling technique, LMI based conditions ensuring the existence of an observer and controller, are proposed. To minimize the impact of disturbances on the controlled output, $$H_\infty $$ optimization technique is used. The validity of our approach is substantiated through an example, underscoring the robustness and reliability of our proposed findings.

In traffic-based tracking scenes, acknowledging category diversity and visual field motion is pivotal. This leads tracking models to prioritize multi-category feature learning, motion analysis, and extended time series modeling rather than singularly focusing on attribute acquisition and background modeling. With this goal in mind, we construct a tracking model by integrating re-identification branches into a lightweight detection model. Simultaneously, we establish an inter-frame spatio-temporal attention mechanism using the Feature Transfer Module. This mechanism aligns the current frame features with the corresponding local features of the previous frame, which can bolster feature representation and downstream task performance. Experimental results on the traffic dataset validate the efficacy of the proposed approach in addressing challenges such as occlusion and deformation within traffic scenes. The proposed method attains a significant 31.5 MOTA and 35.7 AP on the BDD100K dataset with random data selection.

This research paper delves into the application of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks within the Benchmark Simulation Model No. 2 (BSM2) to enhance the predictability and efficiency of wastewater treatment processes. The study aims to develop advanced predictive models that can simulate the dynamics of wastewater treatment more accurately and adjust operational strategies dynamically. By integrating LSTM networks, the research enables continuous prediction of Effluent Quality Index (EQI) variables under stochastic and deterministic scenarios, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of predicting pollutant levels. The research uses an LSTM model to learn from a comprehensive dataset derived from historical simulations of BSM2, where key parameters such as the oxygen transfer coefficient (K L a) are systematically varied to measure their impact on effluent quality. The LSTM's capability to handle complex, nonlinear data and its adaptability to time series forecasting significantly enhances model performance, offering a robust tool for real-time decision-making and process optimization in wastewater treatment facilities. This approach not only improves the accuracy and efficiency of predicting pollutant levels but also supports environmental compliance and operational sustainability, making it a valuable tool for environmental engineers and professionals in the field of wastewater treatment.

Euler Lagrange Skeletal Animation (ELSA) is the novel and fast model for skeletal animation, based on the Euler Lagrange equations of motion and configuration and phase space notion. Single joint’s animation is an integral curve in the vector field generated by those PDEs. Considering the point in the phase space belonging to the animation at current time, by adding the vector pinned to this point and multiplied by the elapsed time, one can designate the new point in the phase space. It defines the state, especially the position (or rotation) of the joint after this time elapses. Starting at time 0 and repeating this procedure N times, there is obtained the approximation, and if the N→ ∞ the integral curve itself. Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) represents an autonomous system which integrates sensing devices, actuators, hardware equipments and software applications, having also communication functionality. A CPS can realize data transmission and cooperation with remote systems and IoT networks. Within smart factories, having the ability of involving business scenarios, CPS autonomously exchange data, control and monitor processes, perform actions in the Industry 4.0 context. Correlated with CPS interoperability capabilities, a new paradigm in manufacturing appeared, based on collaborative, service-oriented, customer-centric industries. Various new business models involve a large, exponentially growing number, of interconnected devices. In this paper is presented a CPS services framework, which integrates an e-business service group within a collaborative infrastructure, thus offering to the users the possibility to valorify on the market, through services integration and collaboration, the remarkable technical advantages of CPS. As e-business example, an e-payment service, developed in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), is considered. The data transactions are realized on mobile and wireless communication channels, through Soap and Rest Web services, which are accessed by mobile client software application, installed on Android OS Smartphones. © 2021 IEEE.
