Energy resilience in renewable energy sources dissemination components such as batteries and inverters is crucial for achieving high operational fidelity. Resilience factors play a vital role in determining the performance of power systems, regardless of their operating environment and interruptions. This article introduces a Unified Resilience Model (URM) using Deep Learning (DL) to enhance power system performance. The proposed model analyzes environmental factors impacting the resilience of batteries and energy storage devices. This deep learning approach trains performance-impacting factors using previously known low resilience drain data. The learning output is utilized to augment various strengthening factors, thereby improving resilience. Drain mitigation and performance improvements are combined for direct impact verification. This process validates the model's fidelity in enhancing power system performance, with a specific focus on the impact of weather factors. © 2025 The Authors

Actuation attacks on constrained linear systems: a set-theoretic analysis

This paper considers a constrained discrete-time linear system subject to actuation attacks. The attacks are modelled as false data injections to the system, such that the total input (control input plus injection) satisfies hard input constraints. We establish a sufficient condition under which it is not possible to maintain the states of the system within a compact state constraint set for all possible realizations of the actuation attack. The developed condition is a simple function of the spectral radius of the system, the relative sizes of the input and state constraint sets, and the proportion of the input constraint set allowed to the attacker.

System Level Synthesis for Affine control Policies: Model Based and Data-Driven Settings

There is an increasing need for effective control of systems with complex dynamics, particularly through data-driven approaches. System Level Synthesis (SLS) has emerged as a powerful framework that facilitates the control of large-scale systems while accounting for model uncertainties. SLS approaches are currently limited to linear systems and time-varying linear control policies, thus limiting the class of achievable control strategies. We introduce a novel closed-loop parameterization for time-varying affine control policies, extending the SLS framework to a broader class of systems and policies. We show that the closed-loop behavior under affine policies can be equivalently characterized using past system trajectories, enabling a fully data-driven formulation. This parameterization seamlessly integrates affine policies into optimal control problems, allowing for a closed-loop formulation of general Model Predictive control (MPC) problems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to extend SLS to affine policies in both model-based and data-driven settings, enabling an equivalent formulation of MPC problems using closed-loop maps. We validate our approach through numerical experiments, demonstrating that our model-based and data-driven affine SLS formulations achieve performance on par with traditional model-based MPC. © 2025, CC BY.

This paper describes a formation of hybrid coatings on a Ti-2Ta-3Zr-36Nb *** is accomplished by plasma electrolytic oxidation and a dip-coating technique with poly(adipic anhydride)((C6H8O3)n)that is loaded with drugs:amoxicillin(C16H19N3O5S),cefazolin(C14H14N8O4S3)or vancomycin(C66H75Cl2N9O24·xHCl).The characteristic microstructure of the polymer was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy and confocal *** on the surface treatment,the surface roughness varied(between 1.53μm and 2.06μm),and the wettability was change with the over of time.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed that the oxide layer did not affect the polymer layer or loaded ***,the drugs lose their stability in a phosphate-buffered saline solution after 6.5 h of exposure,and its decrease was greater than 7%(HPLC analysis).The stability,drug release and concentration of the drug loaded into the material were precisely analyzed by high-performance liquid *** results correlated with the degradation of the polymer in which the addition of drugs caused the percent of degraded polymer to be between 35.5%and 49.4%after 1 h of material immersion,depending on the mass of the loaded drug and various biological responses that were ***,all of the coatings were cytocompatible with MG-63 osteoblast-like *** drug concentrations released from the coatings were sufficient to inhibit adhesion of reference and clinical bacterial strains(***).The coatings with amoxicillin showed the best results in the bacterial inhibition zone,whereas coatings with cefazolin inhibited adhesion of the above bacteria on the surface.

Investigating the origin of optical flares from the TeV blazar S4 0954+65

Aims. To investigate the extreme variability properties of the TeV blazar S4 0954+65 using optical photometric and polarization observations carried out between 2017–2023 using 3 ground-based telescopes. Methods. We examined an extensive dataset comprised of 138 intraday (observing duration shorter than a day) light curves (LCs) of S4 0954+65 for flux, spectral, and polarization variations on diverse timescales. For the variable LCs, we computed the minimum variability timescales. We investigated flux-flux correlations and colour variations to look for spectral variations on long-term (several weeks to years) timescales. Additionally, we looked for connections between optical R-band flux and polarization degree. Results. We found significant variations in 59 out of 138 intraday LCs. We detected a maximum change of 0.58±0.11 in V-band magnitude within ∼2.64 hr and a corresponding minimum variability timescale of 18.21±4.87 minutes on 2017 March 25. During the course of our observing campaign, the source brightness changed by ∼4 magnitudes in V and R bands;however, we did not find any strong spectral variations. The slope of the relative spectral energy distribution was 1.37±0.04. The degree of polarization varied from ∼ 3% to 39% during our monitoring. We observed a change of ∼120 degrees in polarization angle within ∼3 hr on 2022 April 13. No clear correlation was found between optical flux and the degree of polarization. Conclusions. The results of our optical flux, colour, and polarization study provide hints that turbulence in the relativistic jet could be responsible for the intraday optical variations in the blazar S4 0954+65. However, the long-term flux variations may be caused by changes in the Doppler factor. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recent breakthroughs in large language models (LLMs) offer unprecedented natural language understanding and generation capabilities. However, existing surveys on LLMs in biomedicine often focus on specific applications or model architectures, lacking a comprehensive analysis that integrates the latest advancements across various biomedical domains. This review, based on an analysis of 484 publications sourced from databases including PubMed, Web of science, and arXiv, provides an in-depth examination of the current landscape, applications, challenges, and prospects of LLMs in biomedicine, distinguishing itself by focusing on the practical implications of these models in real-world biomedical contexts. Firstly, we explore the capabilities of LLMs in zero-shot learning across a broad spectrum of biomedical tasks, including diagnostic assistance, drug discovery, and personalized medicine, among others, with insights drawn from 137 key studies. Then, we discuss adaptation strategies of LLMs, including fine-tuning methods for both uni-modal and multi-modal LLMs to enhance their performance in specialized biomedical contexts where zero-shot fails to achieve, such as medical question answering and efficient processing of biomedical literature. Finally, we discuss the challenges that LLMs face in the biomedicine domain including data privacy concerns, limited model interpretability, issues with dataset quality, and ethics due to the sensitive nature of biomedical data, the need for highly reliable model outputs, and the ethical implications of deploying AI in healthcare. To address these challenges, we also identify future research directions of LLM in biomedicine including federated learning methods to preserve data privacy and integrating explainable AI methodologies to enhance the transparency of LLMs. As this field of LLM rapidly evolves, continued research and development are essential to fully harness the capabilities of LLMs in biomedicine while ensuring their respon

The history of the use of mines dates back almost two centuries. The geography of their use and the associated social harm have made them, without exaggeration, a global problem. At the same time, searches were underway for safe methods of their neutralization using various technical means. In so doing, until now, none of the existing methods provides a 100% guarantee of cleaning the territory, which determines the purpose of finding innovative methods and the possibility of combining them with existing ones. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are becoming a real modern breakthrough in the field of intellectual achievements. Obtaining optimal results when solving a wide range of different problems, together with the development of composite materials, software, and the latest navigation equipment, make the tasks assigned to them and the expected results more and more difficult. UAVs allow people not to be in life-threatening conditions, to conduct activities beyond their physiological and psychophysiological abilities. The combination of the ability to collect spatial data during flight in various ranges of remote sensing with the possibility of carrying variants of useful equipment opens up prospects for their use in the field of demining territories. Supplementing UAV technologies with modern information systems for processing and analysis of information (expert systems, machine learning, computational intelligence, distributed artificial intelligence, neural networks, etc.), including spatial (GIS), opens up great prospects in the field of humanitarian demining of territories. © 2024, The Authors. Decision support system based on pattern detection in iterative dermoscopic screening

Background and Objective: Videodermoscopy is the gold standard in melanoma diagnosis. A new research trend aims to support specialists’ work by automating this examination method, but most research focuses on developing detectors to replace dermatologists. Our study aims to present a novel idea which focuses on supporting the examination process instead of completely automating it. Instead of detecting and classifying all naevi each time, our approach focuses on full screening at the first visit and shortening the examination at subsequent visits. During the following examinations, images of all naevi are taken by supporting staff and are compared with previously taken images using feature-matching or co-registration-based algorithms. An unmatched naevus needs to be checked by the specialist, meaning that a new naevus appeared or an old one had changed. Methods: The similarity between images (ranging from 0% to 100%) was obtained with characteristic points searching (ORB method) and co-registration-based methods. No dataset presenting changes of naevi over time exists, so augmenting the images from PH2 and HAM10000 datasets was required to simulate the time flow. Results: The decision bound was set, so the true positive rate of each method was equal to 99%, giving the specificity of ORB equal to 97% (PH2) and 89% (HAM10000). Similar tests were performed using a co-registration algorithm giving specificity equal to 23% (PH2) and 19% (HAM10000). Conclusions: We believe that employing our approach will allow supporting staff to perform screening without experts’ help, decreasing examination time and costs and increasing the accessibility of dermoscopic examinations. © 2025 The Authors
