The oil industry is constantly seeking ways to monitor their facilities and equipment in a systematic way with as little human intervention as possible. Currently, monitoring of earth pits is done manually. The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Earth Pit Monitoring App is a mobile application that aims to enable HPCL staff to securely log in and monitor their petroleum storage sites and earthing pits. This app will make it easier to monitor all aspects of their operations, including vendors and petrol pump dealers, with timely alerts for any necessary maintenance checks. The research conducted on the modern type of earthing will be beneficial for the petroleum outlets as maintenance time and cost would be reduced due to its durability. Field research at HPCL Petroleum Outlets were conducted to observe the state of earth pits and the method of earthing used. Chemical earthing is a method of grounding electrical equipment by pouring a mixture of bentonite and graphite around a copper or iron rod driven into the ground, creating a low-resistance path for electrical charge to dissipate into the earth. It is used in areas with high soil resistance and where traditional earthing methods are not feasible. Comparison between the GI Earthing used currently, and the Chemical Earthing was drawn by comparing resistance values under different conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

The importance of object detection within computer vision, especially in the context of detecting small objects, has notably increased. This thorough survey extensively examines small object detection across various applications, consolidating and outlining the available methodologies. Traditional papers on small object detection have focused on specific domains. However, this survey paper incorporates insights from a multitude of domains, providing a comprehensive understanding of the versatility and applicability of small object detection techniques. This paper sheds light on the key challenges faced and delves into potential solutions to address the challenges, offering insights into viable solutions to enhance small object detection performance, setting it apart from existing literature. The strategies identified in our survey encompass a spectrum of approaches, categorized as transformer-based, CNN, and traditional methods. Also, this paper collates prevalent datasets relevant to small object detection, simplifying access to these resources. Further, it provides a succinct overview of diverse evaluation metrics used for performance assessment in this field, enhancing understanding of the effectiveness and proficiency of these methods. This paper designs and implements a compact server system based on the Raspberry Pi 4B and tailored to specific low-end and budget-constrained environments, such as home offices and small businesses, through the integration of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the system to ensure continuous operation during periods of power failure. Important features include VPN for secure remote access, an ad blocker to increase the efficiency of browsing, a private NAS system with data management in a secured and easily accessible manner, and video streaming capabilities to meet multimedia requirements. Real-time performance monitoring comes through with an OLED display. The paper reflects an integrated approach combining hardware and software components which stress system flexibility, low costs, and reliability. This compact server system allows an efficient, user-friendly, and flexible server infrastructure at small scale by providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional server solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

Cucumbers are crucial agricultural commodities worldwide, necessitating production enhancements and quality maintenance. However, several diseases can easily hamper cucumber production if not classified and detected early. This study proposes a modified deep learning approach for identifying and classifying cucumber diseases at early stages using the Kaggle dataset. We applied data augmentation techniques to enhance the robustness of our model. We replaced the original MobileNetV2 classifier with custom classifiers, including linear layers, batch normalization, and ReLU activations to identify the effective features. Our proposed model achieved a high accuracy of 96.81%, which surpasses the accuracy of recent existing models in cucumber leaf disease classification. In the future, we plan to use a larger dataset, and this model can be adapted to work with various IoT devices for deployment in real-time applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Neural Networks are the state-of-the-art models that derive intelligent systems. Generalization of the neural network model is a judge of how well an architecture mimic human intelligence. Self-extraction neural networks become the dominant neural networks, especially in autonomous systems such as intelligent robotics, autonomous vehicles, ṫ etc. This paper presents a neural network based on distance measure, ElHaNet Neural Network. ElHaNet network is a self-extraction neural network and is capable of pattern recognition. ElHaNet architecture composed of an extraction phase and a classification phase. Neurons in the extraction network capture patterns in the presented input. The classification network performs on the input patterns to be classified according to the problem in hand. The developed architecture is bench marked against well-known architectures for hand written digit recognition. The performance of the network is found to compete favorably with state-of-the-art models in the literature. © 2024 IEEE.

The requirements elicitation phase in the software development life cycle (SDLC) is both critical and challenging, especially in the context of big data and rapid technological advancement. Traditional approaches like workshops and proto-typing, while useful, often struggle to keep pace with the massive data volumes and rapidly changing user demands characteristic of modern technology. This paper introduces a data-driven approach that utilizes deep learning (DL) and natural language processing (NLP) to enhance the requirements elicitation process by extracting requirements and classifying them into functional and non-functional categories. Our research involves a deep neural network (DNN) trained on a large dataset of transcriptions from client/user stories. This DNN can identify whether a specific text represents a functional requirement, a non-functional requirement, or neither. Our approach shows a marked improvement over previous methods, with a 33% increase in accuracy and an 18% increase in the F1 score. These results indicate the capability for deep learning techniques to play a vital role in elicitation. © 2024 IEEE.

Bangladesh is a prominent citrus exporter. Annually, the country has been exporting citrus fruits to over 60 countries. Distinguishing various diseases affecting citrus leaves requires a significant investment of time, effort, and specialized knowledge. Consequently, it is essential to create an innovative method for detecting citrus diseases. In this study, we have devised a valuable methodology by employing CNN models to identify diseases in citrus leaves. By employing a distinctive ensemble strategy, we successfully trained the model using varying numbers of classes in each stage. In reality, it allowed us to utilize suitable varieties of leaves for various ailments. Furthermore, it has enhanced the rate at which models learn during the later stages. In addition, it has reduced the level of model intricacy in comparison to frequently employed ensemble models. The identification of plant diseases in the present study involved the utilization of leaf photographs and algorithms for segmentation and feature extraction. Ultimately, we have successfully attained a 96 % accuracy rate for each class, signifying a substantial potential for mitigating production losses. © 2024 IEEE.

In the era of rapid advancements in technology, the efficient digitization of paper-based documents remains a crucial challenge across various domains. The traditional approach to document scanning often struggles with accurate extraction of critical information from unstructured or diverse document formats. This paper presents the development of a web-based document scanner application that leverages Named Entity Recognition (NER) to extract entities from scanned business cards efficiently. The study aims to address the challenge of digitizing and organizing physical documents, with a focus on precise entity extraction. The methodology involves creating a custom dataset of scanned business cards, preprocessing the data, and training an NER model using machine learning techniques. The application is built using the Flask framework and integrates OpenCV for text extraction and SpaCy for NER. The key findings include the model's high F1 score in identifying entities such as names, organizations, designations, emails, and contact details. The application streamlines document digitization by automatically extracting and tagging relevant metadata, minimizing the need for manual data entry. This research contributes to enhancing document management and demonstrates broader applicability for other document types apart from business cards. The implications highlight improvements in workflow automation, data accuracy, and the potential for integrating with larger document management systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The global prevalence of arm amputations, particularly transradial or below-elbow amputations, presents a pressing challenge due to the high costs of commercially available prosthetic hands. This issue is particularly acute in developing countries, where financial constraints hinder access to functional prosthetic solutions. Addressing this gap, this research introduces an innovative approach that merges electromyography (EMG) signal recognition and machine learning to develop an affordable and versatile bionic below-elbow prosthetic hand. The integration of EMG signals for control, coupled with machine learning algorithms, enables accurate classification of hand movements, resulting in enhanced movement precision and a broader range of gestures. This solution overcomes limitations in existing prosthetic hands, offering advanced EMG-based control and comprehensive movement capabilities, empowering users to perform intricate tasks and regain functional autonomy. The study undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the developed system's performance, encompassing hardware, software, and machine learning components. Results show promising accuracy levels for movement classification using the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) machine learning method. Execution time variations are observed among subjects and gestures, influenced by factors such as subject sensitivity and gesture complexity. Energy consumption analysis reveals disparities in power usage among different movements, emphasizing the impact of movement complexity on power requirements. A cost analysis demonstrates the affordability of the prototype, positioning it as a cost-effective alternative to existing prosthetic hand options. Comparing this solution to other research and commercial prosthetic hands highlights its uniqueness, particularly its emphasis on affordability. © 2023 Owner/Author.
