Development of a Reinforcement Learning-Based Control Education Platform Using Python and LW-RCP

This paper proposes a reinforcement learning-based control education platform utilizing Python and light-weight rapid control prototyping (LW-RCP). The platform employs the Sim-to-Real technique, in which neural networks are trained in a Python-based simulation environment and applied to real systems. The trained networks are converted into a format compatible with Matlab/Simulink. The lab-built LW-RCP is used to implement a real-time controller under the Simulink environment by incorporating the converted networks. The proposed platform allows students to easily apply reinforcement learning theory to real systems, contributing to the integration of reinforcement learning control into control curriculum. The effectiveness of the proposed platform is demonstrated by implementing a reinforcement learning controller for the pendubot system. The implemented controller performs the swing-up and transition control and exhibits strong disturbance rejection and recovery properties. © 2025 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. A Study on Verification of Sewage Treatment Expert Operating Experience Using RNN

In this paper, we proposed a data quality and diversity guarantee plan and a method to verify the expert operation experience using RNN and a data quality and diversity guarantee plan to 1) solve the two problems of the sewage treatment expert driving experience and 2) the limitation of situation recognition and judgment. As a solution to the lack of data quality and diversity, not all data are used, but a method of filtering and using only the part that is the basis for determining the expert's experience was proposed. In addition, RNN was used to solve the problem of the limitation of situation recognition and judgment. The reason why RNN is used among various neural networks is that RNN is a neural network architecture for deep learning that predicts time series or sequential data, and sewage treatment data is also time series or sequential data. According to the proposed technique, a RNN model with a reliability of more than 8% was implemented, and the effectiveness of the proposed technique was verified by applying two experiences and one incorrect experience of actual operation experts of the target sewage treatment plant. As a result of the verification, both the actual driving expert's experiences 1 and 2 were verified as valid, and for incorrect experiences, there were 3,442 data that matched the expert's experience and 4,444 data that did not match, so the proposed method can verify the expert's experience. © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

The Korean central government ministries and local governments are major actors in enacting policies to support the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging station infrastructure. However, the installation, operation, and business procedure guidelines are still evolving, leading to many trial-and-error situations. This paper addresses the deficiencies in the guidelines issued by Korea's Ministry of Environment for installing and operating EV charging infrastructure. It proposes solutions to overcome the limitations of the existing guidelines by presenting a new business model not specified in the current guidelines and providing practical measures applicable in the field. Additionally, it suggests a new model for the composition of the business selection committee to ensure fair and systematic administration in the selection of proposers and executing agencies. The goals of the study aim to offer a new perspective on the guidelines for EV charging infrastructure and contribute to the continuous implementation and operation of related projects. Women in computing were among the first programmers in the early 20th century and were substantial contributors to the industry. Today, men dominate the software engineering industry. Research and data show that women are far less likely to pursue a career in this industry, and those that do are less likely than men to stay in it. Reasons for women and other underrepresented minorities to leave the industry are a lack of opportunities for growth and advancement, unfair treatment and workplace culture. This research explores how the potential to cultivate or uphold an industry unfavourable to women and non-binary individuals manifests in software engineering education at the university level. For this purpose, the study includes surveys and interviews. We use gender name perception as a survey instrument, and the results show small differences in perceptions of software engineering students based on their gender. Particularly, the survey respondents anchor the values of the male software engineer (Hans) to a variety of technical and non-technical skills, while the same description for a female software engineer (Hanna) is anchored mainly by her managerial skills. With interviews with women and non-binary students, we gain insight on the main barriers to their sense of ambient belonging. The collected data shows that some known barriers from the literature such as tokenism, and stereotype threat, do still exist. However, we find positive factors such as role models and encouragement that strengthen the sense of belonging among these students. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Nowadays due to increasing cases of evidence alteration the need of a robust evidence protection system is increasing rapidly. This paper presents an innovative solution that combines the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) with blockchain technology to enhance the security, immutability, and transparency of evidential data obtained from crime *** proposed system initiates by utilizing IPFS, a decentralized and distributed file storage protocol, to securely store multimedia evidence, such as photographs. The content-addressed nature of IPFS guarantees tamper-resistant storage, making it an ideal choice for preserving the integrity of sensitive evidentiary materials. The IPFS addresses obtained from IPFS are then embedded within the blockchain, establishing a decentralized and verifiable link between the evidence and its storage location. We use multi-signature wallet to upload the data on blockchain so that we can make it more secure and monitored about who is uploading evidence state data. To verify links and integrity of evidence usage we set up a system of periodical updates of state of evidence whenever accessed. These updates serve as a mechanism to record the state of the evidence at different points in time, adding an additional layer of reliability and accountability. © 2024 IEEE.

The number of electrical safety accidents has been decreasing compared to the past, but they are still occurring. Since its opening in 2001, Incheon International Airport has been steadily installing new power facilities and improving existing facilities, and electrical safety accidents have occurred intermittently at these sites. Various electrical facilities have been installed and operated at Incheon Airport such as underground transmission lines connecting to 154kV power grid of Korea Electric Power Corporation, 154/22.9kV substations, 170kV GIS facilities, 25.8kV GIS facilities, 22.9kV underground distribution lines to supply power to passenger terminals and auxiliary buildings, switch gears and 22.9kV/380V transformers. Accordingly, since 2021, Incheon International Airport has implemented these devices using Virtual Reality technology to prevent safety accidents caused by unskilled devices through education and pre-work training for new employees. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the VR training center of Incheon Airport to prevent electrical safety accidents and analyze the effects accordingly. © 2024 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. Skin cancer, a prevalent and potentially life-threatening disease, necessitates accurate and timely diagnosis for effective treatment. In addressing this critical healthcare challenge, this research proposes a novel approach to skin cancer classification. The study identifies the need for enhanced diagnostic accuracy and introduces a solution by integrating the efficiency of transfer learning, specifically utilizing the EfficientNet V2 architecture. The proposed methodology leverages pre-trained convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to extract high-level features from dermatological images, which are subsequently input into a sophisticated classifier, forming a robust framework for precise skin cancer classification. The research employs a diverse dataset comprising 3297 images sourced from the publicly available Skin Cancer ISIC archive dataset, ensuring comprehensive coverage of benign and malignant skin lesions. During the training phase, the proposed EfficientNet V2 transfer learning approach outperforms conventional methods, achieving an impressive accuracy of 84%, surpassing both Inception V3 (82%) and a generic CNN model (81%). Interpretability analysis is conducted to elucidate the decision-making process of the EfficientNet V2 model, providing insights into the key features influencing its predictions. This transparency is crucial for building trust in the model's recommendations and facilitating its seamless integration into clinical workflows. The EfficientNet V2 transfer learning approach emerges as a promising and effective solution for advancing skin cancer classification systems, contributing significantly to the ongoing efforts to improve diagnostic accuracy in dermatology. © 2024 IEEE.

The advent of 5G networks signifies a major breakthrough in mobile communications, providing better data rates, low latency, and improved connectivity. Efficient resource allocation within 5G networks is paramount to fully leverage these capabilities, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction. Traditional resource allocation methods often struggle to keep pace with the dynamic and complex nature of 5G environments. The potential benefits of machine learning (ML) is explored in this research to enhance resource allocation in 5G networks. We begin by examining the unique challenges posed by 5G networks, by ML approaches employed for resource allocation, including supervised learning such as Trees, SVM, Neural Networks. Our study we train the model using MATLAB simulator. Analysis on the response and residual plot is conducted for predicted response. Analysis and comparative study is made to find the best performance metric suitable for the predicting the model for resource allocation. The study shows the improvisation in the metrics of regression learner. Simulation results demonstrate significant improvements in network performance. Finally, we have done the comparison between the results of MATLAB simulation. This study gives better decisions to service providers to enhance the overall performance of network © 2024 IEEE.

New and improved methods of diagnosis are needed because breast cancer is still the leading cancer-related killer worldwide. Updates to the methods used to categorize breast cancer have emerged because of recent advances in DL and ML. This review paper’s goal in conducting this research is to bring together existing breast cancer diagnostic and classification methods that make use of deep learning and machine learning techniques. We examine the many approaches, datasets, and performance indicators used in the industry and point out the pros and cons of each as part of the review paper. This review aims to thoroughly examine all the methods that are now in use, spot any trends, and propose new areas for research. This review helps researchers and practitioners understand the current state of breast cancer categorization by combining the findings of past research. Discuss recent advances in ML/DL techniques for improving classification, such as ensemble methods, transfer learning, or hybrid models. Additionally, propose the use of fine-tuning of hyperparameters or novel architectures to enhance classification. © 2024 IEEE.
