In this paper, we propose a new patch-based texture synthesis method. The core of the proposed method consists of two main components: (1) a feature-weighted similarity measurement to search for the best match and (2) a dynamically prioritized-based pixel re-synthesis to reduce discontinuity at the boundary of adjacent patches. Examples and experimental comparisons with other previous methods are demonstrated to verify the usefulness of our proposed method. In addition, we enhance the proposed method with a view warping technique to better synthesize non-frontal-parallel textures (NFPTs) that can not be synthesized well by traditional texture synthesis methods.

Geometric Algebra (GA) supports the geometrically intuitive development of an algorithm with its build-in geometric primitives such as points, lines, spheres or planes. But on the negative side GA has a huge computational footprint. In this paper we study how GA can compete with traditional methods from Linear Algebra (LA) in the field of raytracing. We examine the raytracing algorithm for both GA and LA on the basis of primitive operations. Furthermore we introduce a novel framework for rendering point clouds based on spheres and planes as surface elements. We use this model to benchmark implementations of both algebras. Our results show that depending on the microprocessor architecture like CPUs, FPGAs or GPUs Geometric Algebra and Linear Algebra can raytrace with comparable speed.

In composite document image, handwritten and printed text is often found to be overlapped with printed lines. The problem becomes critical for obscure and broken lines at multiple positions. Consequently, line removal is unavoidable pre-processing stage in the development of robust object recognizers. Moreover, the restoration of the handwritten area after removal of lines still persists to be a problem of interest. This paper presents a new approach to detect and remove unwanted printed line inherited in the text image at any position without characters distortion to avoid restoration stage. The proposed technique is based on connected component analysis. Experiment is conducted using single line images that scanned and extracted manually from several documents and forms. It is demonstrated that our approach is equally suitable to deal with line removal in printed and handwritten text written in any language circumvent restoration stage.
