Salient object detection(SOD)in RGB and depth images has attracted increasing research *** RGB-D SOD models usually adopt fusion strategies to learn a shared representation from RGB and depth modalities,while few methods explicitly consider how to preserve modality-specific *** this study,we propose a novel framework,the specificity-preserving network(SPNet),which improves SOD performance by exploring both the shared information and modality-specific ***,we use two modality-specific networks and a shared learning network to generate individual and shared saliency prediction *** effectively fuse cross-modal features in the shared learning network,we propose a cross-enhanced integration module(CIM)and propagate the fused feature to the next layer to integrate cross-level ***,to capture rich complementary multi-modal information to boost SOD performance,we use a multi-modal feature aggregation(MFA)module to integrate the modalityspecific features from each individual decoder into the shared *** using skip connections between encoder and decoder layers,hierarchical features can be fully *** experiments demonstrate that our SPNet outperforms cutting-edge approaches on six popular RGB-D SOD and three camouflaged object detection *** project is publicly available at https://***/taozh2017/SPNet.

Drawing Order Diagrams Through Two-Dimension Extension

Ordinal real-world data such as concept hierarchies, ontologies, genealogies, or task dependencies in scheduling often has the property to not only contain pairwise comparable, but also incomparable elements. Order diagrams provide an important tool for understanding and thus discovering knowledge in such data. Easily readable drawings of such order diagrams are hard to come by, even for small ordered sets. Many attempts were made to transfer classical graph drawing approaches to order diagrams. Although these methods produce satisfying results for some ordered sets, they unfortunately perform poorly in general. In this work, we present the novel algorithm DimDraw to decompose an ordered set (e.g., a concept hierarchy) in linear orders and to produce a corresponding order diagram. This algorithm is based on a relation between the dimension of an ordered set and the bipartiteness of its transitive incompatibility graph. To evaluate the quality of the algorithm, a user study was conducted where generated drawings were compared with ones from state-of-the-art drawing algorithms. © 2023 Brown University. Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). In response to the COVID-19 crisis and government strategies of quarantine, bans on gatherings, or even a complete lockdown, many schools and universities transferred from traditional face-to-face learning to online remote learning. This increased the need to develop web- or mobile-based applications to support e-learning requirements. Moreover, the need for providing academic institutions with platforms that manage e-lectures and e-exams during the pandemic or any other crises like wars and *** paper provides a web-based learning system that controls course content in the University of Basrah in Iraq. The proposed e-learning system has several features, such as playing video lectures beside text lectures, providing online quizzes, and creating e-certificates. The system was developed according to the agile software development method with the Scrum technique and using HTML, CSS, PHP programming language, with MySQL for its database. In addition, the suggested e-learning system includes three authorized users: administrator, teacher, and students. Finally, an evaluation session was conducted to measure the usability and effectiveness of the system. The results showed that incorporating video lectures and e-quizzes into the e-learning system enhanced students' engagement and improved the interaction between students and teachers during the pandemic. © 2022 IEEE.

Effective health education and awareness initiatives are essential in a world facing growing concerns about children's well-being and rising unhealthy behaviours. This research presents a Narrative Game-Based Learning (N-GBL) framework designed to enhance children's health awareness, addressing critical gaps in their health education. Through a systematic literature review following the PRISMA methodology, this study identifies 13 essential components that form the foundation of the N-GBL framework. These components are structured around the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model, emphasizing narratives, game mechanics, and user engagement strategies. The core purpose of the N-GBL framework is to deepen children's understanding of the consequences of their choices, fostering informed decision-making and to empower them to make healthier choices. This research contributes to developing effective health awareness games tailored to children's learning preferences, bridging existing gaps in their health education. The N-GBL framework offers a revolutionary approach to health education for children, significantly enhancing health awareness and reducing health issues resulting from unhealthy behaviours. Future work will involve expert validation and practical testing in primary schools to transform health education for children. © 2023 IEEE.

Cyclic Transfer Learning for Mandarin-English Code-Switching Speech Recognition

Transfer learning is a common method to improve the performance of the model on a target task via pre-training the model on pretext tasks. Different from the methods using monolingual corpora for pre-training, in this study, we propose a Cyclic Transfer Learning method (CTL) that utilizes both code-switching (CS) and monolingual speech resources as the pretext tasks. Moreover, the model in our approach is always alternately learned among these tasks. This helps our model can improve its performance via maintaining CS features during transferring knowledge. The experiment results on the standard SEAME Mandarin-English CS corpus have shown that our proposed CTL approach achieves the best performance with Mixed Error Rate (MER) of 16.3% on testman, 24.1% on testsge. In comparison to the baseline model that was pre-trained with monolingual data, our CTL method achieves 11.4% and 8.7% relative MER reduction on the testman and testsge sets, respectively. Besides, the CTL approach also outperforms compared to other state-of-the-art methods. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of global mortality *** detection of pulmonary tumors can significantly enhance the survival rate of ***,various computer-Aided Diagnostic(CAD)methods have been developed to enhance the detection of pulmonary nodules with high ***,the existing method-ologies cannot obtain a high level of specificity and *** present study introduces a novel model for Lung Cancer Segmentation and Classification(LCSC),which incorporates two improved architectures,namely the improved U-Net architecture and the improved AlexNet *** LCSC model comprises two distinct *** first stage involves the utilization of an improved U-Net architecture to segment candidate nodules extracted from the lung ***,an improved AlexNet architecture is employed to classify lung *** the first stage,the proposed model demonstrates a dice accuracy of 0.855,a precision of 0.933,and a recall of 0.789 for the segmentation of candidate *** suggested improved AlexNet architecture attains 97.06%accuracy,a true positive rate of 96.36%,a true negative rate of 97.77%,a positive predictive value of 97.74%,and a negative predictive value of 96.41%for classifying pulmonary cancer as either benign or *** proposed LCSC model is tested and evaluated employing the publically available dataset furnished by the Lung Image Database Consortium and Image Database Resource Initiative(LIDC-IDRI).This proposed technique exhibits remarkable performance compared to the existing methods by using various evaluation parameters.

Human-human interaction recognition is crucial in computer vision fields like surveillance,human-computer interaction,and social *** enhances systems’ability to interpret and respond to human behavior *** research focuses on recognizing human interaction behaviors using a static image,which is challenging due to the complexity of diverse *** overall purpose of this study is to develop a robust and accurate system for human interaction *** research presents a novel image-based human interaction recognition method using a Hidden Markov Model(HMM).The technique employs hue,saturation,and intensity(HSI)color transformation to enhance colors in video frames,making them more vibrant and visually appealing,especially in low-contrast or washed-out *** filters reduce noise and smooth imperfections followed by silhouette extraction using a statistical *** extraction uses the features from Accelerated Segment Test(FAST),Oriented FAST,and Rotated BRIEF(ORB)*** application of Quadratic Discriminant Analysis(QDA)for feature fusion and discrimination enables high-dimensional data to be effectively analyzed,thus further enhancing the classification *** ensures that the final features loaded into the HMM classifier accurately represent the relevant human *** impressive accuracy rates of 93%and 94.6%achieved in the BIT-Interaction and UT-Interaction datasets respectively,highlight the success and reliability of the proposed *** proposed approach addresses challenges in various domains by focusing on frame improvement,silhouette and feature extraction,feature fusion,and HMM *** enhances data quality,accuracy,adaptability,reliability,and reduction of errors.

Human Activity Recognition(HAR)is an active research area due to its applications in pervasive computing,human-computer interaction,artificial intelligence,health care,and social ***,dynamic environments and anthropometric differences between individuals make it harder to recognize *** study focused on human activity in video sequences acquired with an RGB camera because of its vast range of real-world *** uses two-stream ConvNet to extract spatial and temporal information and proposes a fine-tuned deep neural ***,the transfer learning paradigm is adopted to extract varied and fixed frames while reusing object identification *** state-of-the-art pre-trained models are exploited to find the best model for spatial feature *** temporal sequence,this study uses dense optical flow following the two-stream ConvNet and Bidirectional Long Short TermMemory(BiLSTM)to capture *** state-of-the-art datasets,UCF101 and HMDB51,are used for evaluation *** addition,seven state-of-the-art optimizers are used to fine-tune the proposed network ***,this study utilizes an ensemble mechanism to aggregate spatial-temporal features using a four-stream Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),where two streams use RGB *** contrast,the other uses optical flow ***,the proposed ensemble approach using max hard voting outperforms state-ofthe-art methods with 96.30%and 90.07%accuracies on the UCF101 and HMDB51 datasets.
