Discrete memristive neuron model and its interspike interval-encoded application in image encryption

Bursting is a diverse and common phenomenon in neuronal activation patterns and it indicates that fast action voltage spiking periods are followed by resting *** interspike interval(ISI)is the time between successive action voltage spikes of neuron and it is a key indicator used to characterize the ***,a three-dimensional memristive Hindmarsh-Rose(mHR)neuron model was constructed to generate hidden chaotic ***,the properties of the discrete mHR neuron model have not been investigated,*** this article,we first construct a discrete mHR neuron model and then acquire different hidden chaotic bursting sequences under four typical sets of *** make these sequences more suitable for the application,we further encode these hidden chaotic sequences using their ISIs and the performance comparative results show that the ISI-encoded chaotic sequences have much more complex chaos properties than the original *** addition,we apply these ISI-encoded chaotic sequences to the application of image *** image encryption scheme has a symmetric key structure and contains plain-text permutation and bidirectional diffusion *** results and security analyses prove that it has excellent robustness against various possible attacks.

The integration of brain-machine interface and exoskeleton robot has been widespread application in gait correction, walking assistance, and numerous other scenarios. To effectively extract the electroencephalogram (EEG) signal features of motor imagery while wearing an exoskeleton, this study proposes a frequency band pre-determination method based on power spectral density (PSD) that enables common spatial patterns (CSP) to extract features from the frequency band with the highest energy in the EEG. The signal power spectral density of all channels is obtained at or near the average frequency of the maximum short interval frequency component energy. A second round of filtering is performed on the data, and the signal components are used as input for the subsequent feature extraction step. The CSP method extracts features from the spatial domain signal and generates feature maps. Finally, Support Vector Machines (SVM) are utilized to classify the EEG signals. Based on the pre-set gait of the exoskeleton robot and the motor imagery paradigm, feature extraction and classification of motor imagery EEG data during exoskeleton use were conducted, with an average accuracy rate of 77%. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in extracting the motor imagery EEG features during exoskeleton use. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

In IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN, as the number of nodes increases, collisions will increase correspondingly, channel utilization will decline, and the total throughput will decline instead of increasing, leading to system performance degradation. Through in-depth analysis of the root cause of this problem, this paper designs a simple and effective algorithm, which uses ARMA filtering algorithm to measure the conditional collision probability and then calculate the number of nodes in the network. The AP tells all nodes in the network in the form of broadcast when the number of nodes in the network changes, after all nodes receive the broadcast sent by the AP, they dynamically adjust the network parameters accordingly. Finally, NS2 simulation software is used to conduct simulation experiments in a variety of network scenarios, and the experimental results verify that the algorithm in this paper is simple and effective, with less changes to IEEE 802.11, and is suitable for use and promotion in wireless networks. It can optimize the network system performance based on the number of nodes, improve the system throughput, and significantly improve the network performance. According to the number and density of nodes, the algorithm reduces the collision probability by dynamically adjusting the timeslot, accordingly increases the total network throughput, and achieves the purpose of effectively improving the network performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Cell type identification is a crucial step in single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data analysis. The supervised cell type identification method is a preferred solution due to its accuracy and efficiency. The performance of such methods highly depends on the quality of the reference data. Although there are many supervised cell type identification tools, no method currently exists for constructing reference data. Here, we develop Target-Oriented Reference Construction (TORC), a widely applicable strategy for constructing references based on target datasets in scRNA-seq supervised cell type identification. TORC focuses on alleviating differences in cell type composition between the reference and target sets. Extensive benchmarks on simulated and real data analyses demonstrate consistent improvements in cell type identification with TORC. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite the drug approval process consists of extremely rigorous clinical and preclinical studies, not all side effects are identified before its marketing, posing a significant risk to public health. Furthermore, considering the huge use of economic and human resources, in-silico predictive approaches for the identification of side effects are essential. In this study, we introduce a new method based on random walk with restart algorithm to delineate previously unidentified links between drugs and side effects, and we apply it on the drug-induced Asthma and long QT syndrome. We identified the genes potentially involved in the development of the analyzed side effect by comparing side-effect-related drugs with drugs not known to induce side effects. Analyzing the sets of genes most likely influenced by the perturbation of each individual drug, we observed that, on average, side-effect-related drugs perturb a higher percentage of genes involved in the development of side effects compared to side-effect-unrelated drugs. Based on this finding, we developed a classifier to explore all possible unknown associations between drugs and side effects. This method can be extended to the analysis of other side effects as well. © 2023 IEEE.

New Zealand government’s Rural Broadband Initiative(RBI)aims to invest 400 million New Zealand dollar to provide 99%of New Zealanders with access to 50 Mbps peak broadband speed,with the remaining 1%at 10 Mbps by *** 2017,stage 1 of the RBI has been completed,and research is needed to find out the level of usage,proficiency,and productivity achieved by ***,a survey was carried out to learn whether the rural residents and their communities are making good use of the new fast broadband *** survey collected data from 217 rural residents from North Island,and the results indicate that about half of the interview respondents are satisfied with the new broadband speed and the reliability which is offered by RBI stage ***,there is about 28%of the respondents disagreed with *** majority of the Internet uses for rural residents are information searching,reading news,online entertainment,and online *** that,only a small proportion of respondents know how to utilize the Internet in their work/business and benefit/profit from it,e.g.,using cloud technology capabilities and online marketing campaigns,*** ***,we argue that information and communications technologies(ICT)adoption is not only the availability of the infrastructure but also the beneficial outcomes of Internet *** other words,Internet skills in-depth training and education need to catch up with the infrastructure deployment,which is useful to fuel the digital productivity and inclusion for booming rural *** survey data-driven findings presented in this paper could serve as a reference to inform government policymakers and those who wish to create,invest,and take actions to speed up the economic and social growth of rural communities in Aotearoa New Zealand through the Internet while shifting from the Internet speed and traffic volume-driven to a more effective Internet connectivity and value-added driven rural economy.

The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has facilitated the acquisition of high-resolution data regarding cell heterogeneity across various tissues. A fundamental and critical step in the analysis of scRNA-seq data is cell type identification. An appropriate graph construction strategy can reflect the topological structure between cells and allows for detailed exploration of the relationships between cells and genes. Given the sparsity of scRNA-seq data and the pronounced noise generated by shallow sequencing, choosing an appropriate graph construction strategy has become a significant challenge. In this paper, we propose a single-cell clustering method, named Sc-PNNMF, based on structural perturbation of nonnegative matrix factorization. Sc-PNNMF employs a structural perturbation algorithm to optimize the gene expression matrix. The optimized matrix guides the matrix factorization process, effectively overcoming the impact of data sparsity and significant noise in gene expression data on the graph construction strategy. We compared the clustering abilities of Sc-PNNMF with five other methods on ten real datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Magnetic nanoparticles can be embedded in electrospun nanofibers and other polymeric matrices to prepare magnetic composites with defined magnetic and mechanical properties. Metal-oxide nanoparticles, such as magnetite or nickel-ferrite, are of special interest since they do not need a coating to avoid oxidation. Like other nanoparticles, these metal-oxide nanoparticles tend to form agglomerations, in this way modifying the magnetic properties of the composites. After studying this effect for the magnetic elements Co, Fe, Ni as well as permalloy (Py) in a previous study, defining a new method to quantify the nanoparticle distribution in a polymer, here we concentrate on the influence of agglomerations on the magnetic properties of metal-oxide nanoparticles with different diameters in non-magnetic matrices. © 2022

The framework of feedback graphs is a generalization of sequential decision-making with bandit or full information feedback. In this work, we study an extension where the directed feedback graph is stochastic, following a distribution similar to the classical Erdős-Rényi model. Specifically, in each round every edge in the graph is either realized or not with a distinct probability for each edge. We prove nearly optimal regret bounds of order (Equation presented) (ignoring logarithmic factors), where αΕ and δΕ are graph-theoretic quantities measured on the support of the stochastic feedback graph G with edge probabilities thresholded at Ε. Our result, which holds without any preliminary knowledge about G, requires the learner to observe only the realized out-neighborhood of the chosen action. When the learner is allowed to observe the realization of the entire graph (but only the losses in the out-neighborhood of the chosen action), we derive a more efficient algorithm featuring a dependence on weighted versions of the independence and weak domination numbers that exhibits improved bounds for some special cases. © 2022 Neural information processing systems foundation. This work answers positively the question whether non-stop flights are possible for maintaining constant the pose of cable-suspended objects. Such a counterintuitive answer paves the way for a paradigm shift where energetically efficient fixed-wing flying carriers can replace the inefficient multirotor carriers that have been used so far in precise cooperative cable-suspended aerial manipulation. First, we show that one or two flying carriers alone cannot perform non-stop flights while maintaining a constant pose of the suspended object. Instead, we prove that three flying carriers can achieve this task provided that the orientation of the load at the equilibrium is such that the components of the cable forces that balance the external force (typically gravity) do not belong to the plane of the cable anchoring points on the load. Numerical tests are presented in support of the analytical results.
