In swarm robotics, most of the control algorithms are inspired by the behaviors of animal swarms. The capability gap between robots and animals, however, hinders the reliability of these algorithms. Toward developing reliable algorithms of robot swarms, a promising solution is learning from the collective behaviors of low-intelligent natural swarms, such as cell collectives and molecular assemblies. Here, we proposed a programmable control system inspired by protein folding. Using our homemade RoboFold platform, we demonstrated a protein-folding inspired programmable control method for robot swarms. By programming and designing the sequence of a thread of protein-like robots, the developed system can mimic the formation of hierarchical structures in robot swarms as the three-level of protein structures. We quantitatively characterized the specific features of self-organized morphologies. The experimental results together demonstrated the feasibility of this method. To summarize, this work successfully translated the principles of protein-folding into programming methods to control the morphology of robot swarms. Considering that the protein folding problem is essentially a physicochemical problem, this system is not only beneficial for the control of swarm robots but also has the potential to develop into a tool for studying the protein folding problem. © 2024 IEEE.

At present, it is still a great challenge to improve the observation accuracy of two-photon fluorescence microscope. A new method that using auxiliary microspheres as movable components on the sample is proposed to solve this challenge in this study, it can improve high-resolution imaging. In experiments using two-photon fluorescence microscopy, the half-width height (FWHM) of red fluorescent nanoparticles with a diameter of 20 nm was observed to be 296 nm using a primitive microscope system. In this paper by combining barium titanate microspheres with two-photon fluorescence microscopy, the accuracy of the point spread function of the nanoparticles can be improved by a factor of about 1.65, which results in a significant reduction of their half-width height measurements to 179 nm. The research is of great significance to improve the resolution of two-photon fluorescence microscope. This progress is very valuable for studying biological tissues and cell structures, it provides a new impetus for the sustainable development in the microscopic imaging field. © 2024 IEEE.

Bayesian Optimization (BO) is a sample-efficient black-box optimizer, and extensive methods have been proposed to build the absolute function response of the black-box function through a probabilistic surrogate model, including Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE), random forest (SMAC), and Gaussian process (GP). However, few methods have been explored to estimate the relative rankings of candidates, which can be more robust to noise and have better practicality than absolute function responses, especially when the function responses are intractable but preferences can be acquired. To this end, we propose a novel ranking-based surrogate model based on the Poisson process and introduce an efficient BO framework, namely Poisson Process Bayesian Optimization (PoPBO). Two tailored acquisition functions are further derived from classic LCB and EI to accommodate it. Compared to the classic GP-BO method, our PoPBO has lower computation costs and better robustness to noise, which is verified by abundant experiments. The results on both simulated and real-world benchmarks, including hyperparameter optimization (HPO) and neural architecture search (NAS), show the effectiveness of PoPBO. Population aging is a common issue in many countries. Facing the needs of multi-level, multi-directional and diversified medical and health services for the elderly, we need to rationally allocate resources and provide effective services to them to their satisfaction. This paper reviews the research status of the path planning of community nursing workers, and studies a routing problem of community nursing services. This study aims to effectively reduce the waiting time for elderly patients and improve their satisfaction. A novel mixed-integer programming model is developed to solve the problem. The model is tested in different scenarios, including different number of customers, time window, maximum value and penalty coefficient beyond time window, and customer illness severity weight. Our findings provide indirect insights on how community elderly care services can help improve customer satisfaction. © 2022 IEEE.

Telemedicine plays an important role in Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19).The virtual surgery simulation system,as a key component in telemedicine,requires to compute in ***,this paper proposes a realtime cutting model based on finite element and order reduction method,which improves the computational speed and ensure the real-time *** proposed model uses the finite element model to construct a deformation model of the virtual ***,a model order reduction method combining proper orthogonal decomposition and Galerkin projection is employed to reduce the amount of deformation *** addition,the cutting path is formed according to the collision intersection position of the surgical instrument and the lesion area of the virtual ***,the Bezier curve is adopted to draw the incision outline after the virtual lung has been ***,the simulation system is set up on the PHANTOM OMNI force haptic feedback device to realize the cutting simulation of the virtual *** results show that the proposed model can enhance the real-time performance of telemedicine,reduce the complexity of the cutting simulation and make the incision smoother and more natural.

Multi-view clustering can partition data samples into their categories by learning a consensus representation in unsupervised way and has received more and more attention in recent years. However, most existing deep clustering methods learn consensus representation or view-specific representations from multiple views via view-wise aggregation way, where they ignore structure relationship of all samples. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-view clustering network to address these problems, called Global and Cross-view Feature Aggregation for Multi-View Clustering (GCFAggMVC). Specifically, the consensus data presentation from multiple views is obtained via cross-sample and cross-view feature aggregation, which fully explores the complementary of similar samples. Moreover, we align the consensus representation and the view-specific representation by the structure-guided contrastive learning module, which makes the view-specific representations from different samples with high structure relationship similar. The proposed module is a flexible multi-view data representation module, which can be also embedded to the incomplete multi-view data clustering task via plugging our module into other frameworks. Extensive experiments show that the proposed method achieves excellent performance in both complete multi-view data clustering tasks and incomplete multi-view data clustering tasks. ST-Tree with Interpretability for Multivariate Time Series Classification

Multivariate time series classification is of great importance in practical applications and is a challenging task. However, deep neural network models such as Transformers exhibit high accuracy in multivariate time series classification but lack interpretability and fail to provide insights into the decision-making process. On the other hand, traditional approaches based on decision tree classifiers offer clear decision processes but relatively lower accuracy. Swin Transformer (ST) addresses these issues by leveraging self-attention mechanisms to capture both fine-grained local patterns and global patterns. It can also model multi-scale feature representation learning, thereby providing a more comprehensive representation of time series features. To tackle the aforementioned challenges, we propose ST-Tree with interpretability for multivariate time series classification. Specifically, the ST-Tree model combines ST as the backbone network with an additional neural tree model. This integration allows us to fully leverage the advantages of ST in learning time series context while providing interpretable decision processes through the neural tree. This enables researchers to gain clear insights into the model’s decision-making process and extract meaningful interpretations. Through experimental evaluations on 10 UEA datasets, we demonstrate that the ST-Tree model improves accuracy in multivariate time series classification tasks and provides interpretability through visualizing the decision-making process across different datasets. © 2024, CC BY.

Collaborative Mobile Crowdsourcing (CMCS) allows platforms to recruit worker teams to collaboratively execute complex sensing tasks. The efficiency of such collaborations could be influenced by trust relationships among workers. To obtain the asymmetric trust values among all workers in the social network, the Trust Reinforcement Evaluation Framework (TREF) based on Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (GCNs) is proposed in this paper. The task completion effect is comprehensively calculated by considering the workers’ ability benefits, distance benefits, and trust benefits in this paper. The worker recruitment problem is modeled as an Undirected Complete Recruitment Graph (UCRG), for which a specific Tabu Search Recruitment (TSR) algorithm solution is proposed. An optimal execution team is recruited for each task by the TSR algorithm, and the collaboration team for the task is obtained under the constraint of privacy loss. To enhance the efficiency of the recruitment algorithm on a large scale and scope, the Mini-Batch K-Means clustering algorithm and edge computing technology are introduced, enabling distributed worker recruitment. Lastly, extensive experiments conducted on five real datasets validate that the recruitment algorithm proposed in this paper outperforms other baselines. Additionally, TREF proposed herein surpasses the performance of state-of-the-art trust evaluation methods in the literature. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions. © 2023 IEEE.

The article presents the concept of a hybrid network topology in the enterprises with the use of a solar power plant and energy storage as well as a drive frequency converter for charging of transportation battery of wheels vehicles and powering of electric caterpillar mining machines. Two important functionalities of the drive frequency converter as a unidirectional EV battery charger and for powering electric motors are presented. The obtained results of the simulation and experimental tests of the presented model confirm the possibility of controlling the DC current value of connected to drive frequency converter of the diode rectifier unit charging the EV battery. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
