LDNet-RUL: Lightweight Deformable Neural Network for Remaining Useful Life Prognostics of Lithium-ion Batteries

Deep neural networks (DNNs)-based battery remaining useful life (RUL) prognostics models suffer from high computational costs, long inference times, and a tendency to overfit, posing significant challenges for deployment on memory-constrained edge devices. To address this, LDNet-RUL, a lightweight yet high-performance model, is proposed for lithiumion battery lifetime prognostics. Specifically, a deformable depthwise convolution unit is designed that efficiently adapts to variations in input features with relatively low computational cost, which leverages fewer parameters and an adaptive receptive field to capture battery degradation dynamics. A multi-scale feature extraction method is introduced to extract degradation features from both short-term and long-term data during the battery charging process, which makes the method applicable to various battery charging protocols. To address overfitting and accelerate model inference, an adaptive channel selector, an adaptive residual connector, and a progressive dimensionalitygrouped bottleneck filter are incorporated to refine feature selection and reduce the model's complexity, boosting the model's overall performance. Experiments on vehicle lithium-ion battery datasets demonstrate that LDNet-RUL achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance, with average RMSE of 0.23 and Score of 0.49. The model is lightweight, with only 7.92K parameters, achieves inference times of 3.94ms on GPU and CPU, and 5.39ms on the NVIDIA Jetson TX2. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

New FOPID control Design for Flight Dynamics With Special Phenomena

The design of a flight control system (FCS) for aircraft altitude change dynamics presents significant challenges due to the inherent non-minimum phase (NMP) behavior. This behavior leads to undesirable initial undershoot responses, imposing significant limitations on internal stability and severely restricting the performance and robustness of directly applying conventional control methods. Despite the widespread use of proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controllers in industrial applications, their robustness, performance, and disturbance rejection deteriorate when applied to systems exhibiting NMP characteristics. This paper highlights the practical importance of upgrading PID-based controllers for flight dynamics with NMP behavior by addressing these challenges, with a particular focus on tracking and stability issues under direct feedback control. To overcome these limitations, we propose a modified control architecture incorporating a fractional-order PID (FOPID) controller, augmented with a fractional-order derivative filtering component (FD). This design aims to enhance transient response, noise immunity, and adaptability without adding significant complexity. The control problem is framed as a single-objective optimization task, where the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to simultaneously tune the proposed controller gains, minimizing the error between the actual and desired altitude commands. The performance of the proposed controller was compared to traditional PID and FOPID controllers through both time and frequency domain analyses, under scenarios involving parametric uncertainty and 50% and 80% loss of effectiveness in the actuator (elevator) fault. The performance evaluation was based on transient response criteria, while robustness was assessed in terms of delay, phase, and gain margins. Efficient Wideband Adaptive Beamforming With Null Broadening Using MHSA-CNN

In the case of interference perturbation, the wideband adaptive beamforming (WAB) weight vector may be mismatched, which leads to the decrease of interference suppression ability. To improve communication quality under the interference position perturbation, this paper presents a multi-head self-attention conventional neural network (MHSA-CNN)-based WAB algorithm with null broadening. In the presented approach, a MHSA-CNN structure is proposed to improve the prediction accuracy of beamforming weight vector in the case of interference perturbation. Specifically, by processing multiple attention heads in parallel to obtain the information of different signal subspaces, MHSA mechanism enables the network to dynamically adjust the attention distribution of signal features and effectively extract the global features of the covariance matrix. Then, based on focused reconstruction and null broadening, an effective neural network training label is used to enhance the ability of suppressing interferences. Finally, the well-trained MHSA-CNN can accurately output the weight vector suitable for WAB with null broadening in real time. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can suppress interferences accurately within the interference perturbation range and enhance the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio while ensuring real-time communication performance. © 2025 IEEE.

With the rapid advancement of data acquisition technologies, multiview data have been widely applied in fields such as social networks, computer vision, and natural language processing. Multiview data typically contain information arising from different views or sensors, offering more perspectives for observation. The multiview nature also brings challenges, such as high dimensionality, noise, heterogeneity, and redundancy. Particularly, in scenarios with limited labeled data, traditional single-view learning methods often struggle to handle these complex issues. To address this, this article proposes an unsupervised multiview learning framework that integrates Takagi–Sugeno–Kang fuzzy systems and graph-based adaptive regularization (MvTSK-GAR) to handle the heterogeneity and redundancy in multiview data effectively. Specifically, this article first captures the uncertainty in multiview data through fuzzy rules and models the structural relationships between the data using graph-based adaptive regularization. The framework does not rely on a large amount of labeled data. Instead, it integrates complementary information coming from different views to automatically mine latent patterns, thus generating more accurate and stable data representations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework performs well in various real-world applications, particularly excelling in high-dimensional data processing and noise reduction. Microgrids equipped with hybrid energy storage systems (ESSs) are increasingly critical for balancing the intermittency of renewable energy sources (RESs) and the fluctuations in demand. This paper introduces a novel Multi-Agent Imitation Learning (MAIL) framework for real-time energy management in microgrids, particularly under real-time pricing conditions. The approach leverages a problem decomposition strategy, which separates the energy management task into two phases: first, optimal actions for each ESS are estimated using individual agents, each employing a deep neural network (DNN) trained to emulate an ideal mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) solver;then, a one-step online optimization reacts to these decisions to optimize the remaining system components holistically. Rigorous proofs establish the equivalence of the decomposed subproblems to the original optimization problem, ensuring integrity and effectiveness. Comparative simulation studies with real-world data reveal that our MAIL framework offers significant cost advantages and superior training efficiency relative to both traditional single and emerging multi-agent reinforcement learning (RL) methods. Notably, the operational costs achieved through our approach are markedly lower than those of its counterparts, closely approximating the theoretical minimum. This underscores the method's proficiency and its potential as an effective solution for microgrid energy management. Moreover, the MAIL strategy's multi-agent design allows for straightforward scalability to more extensive systems involving multiple ESSs and shows promising potential for cooperative management across interconnected microgrids. © 2014 IEEE.

Emotion recognition in conversation (ERC) aims at accurately identifying emotional states expressed in conversational content. Existing ERC methods, although relying on semantic understanding, often encounter challenges when confronted with incomplete or misleading semantic information. In addition, when dealing with the interaction between emotional and semantic information, existing methods are often difficult to effectively distinguish the complex relationship between the two, which affects the accuracy of emotion recognition. To address the problems of semantic misdirection and emotional cross-talk encountered by traditional models when confronted with complex conversational data, we propose a semantic and emotional dual channel (SEDC) strategy for emotion recognition in conversations to process emotional and semantic information independently. Under this strategy, emotion information provides an auxiliary recognition function when the semantics are unclear or lacking, enhancing the accuracy of the model. Our model consists of two modules: the emotion processing module accurately captures the emotional features of each utterance through contrastive learning, and then constructs a dialogue emotion propagation map to simulate the emotional information conveyed in the dialogue;the semantic processing module combines an external knowledge base to enhance the semantic expression of the dialogue through knowledge enhancement strategies. This divide-and-conquer approach allows us to more deeply analyze the emotional and semantic dimensions of complex dialogues. Experimental results on the IEMOCAP, EmoryNLP, MELD, and DailyDialog datasets show that our approach significantly outperforms existing techniques and effectively improves the accuracy of dialogue emotion recognition. SimGate: A deep learning surrogate model for predicting microstructure evolution using the phase-field method

This study introduces SimGate, a novel deep learning surrogate model for predicting microstructure evolution using the phase-field method. Combining the temporal modeling capabilities of "Simpler yet better video prediction (SimVP)" with the multi-order aggregation features of "Multi-order gated aggregation network (MogaNet)", SimGate leverages robust temporal dynamics alongside spatial and channel aggregation modules to ensure precise detail capture and spatial consistency. To demonstrate SimGate's ability to tackle challenging scenarios, high-temperature sintering simulations of polycrystalline cerium dioxide (CeO2) particles were selected as a test case. These simulations, chosen for their complexity, involve both Cahn–Hilliard-type and Allen–Cahn-type phase-field equations along with intricate interfacial dynamics, and they were validated through experimental data. SimGate accurately predicts the sintering process from limited initial time steps and exhibits strong extrapolation capabilities in modeling unseen microstructures over extended time scales. Compared to traditional phase-field simulations, which require hours per case, SimGate reduces computational time to seconds while maintaining a prediction accuracy of around 90%. Additionally, point-wise error analysis shows that the average accuracy is improved by 7.80% and 12.41% compared with the original SimVP and well-known Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTM), respectively. An ablation analysis was performed to reveal the contributions of key components in the proposed SimGate framework. By significantly enhancing computational efficiency and accuracy, SimGate demonstrates broad potential as a generalizable microstructure prediction model applicable to diverse material and mechanical processing scenarios beyond sintering. © 2025

In this note, we present the synthesis of secure-by-construction controllers that address safety and security properties simultaneously in cyber-physical systems. Our focus is on studying a specific security property called opacity, which characterizes the system's ability to maintain plausible deniability of its secret behavior in the presence of an intruder. These controllers are synthesized based on a concept of so-called (augmented) control barrier functions. We propose conditions that facilitate the construction of the desired (augmented) control barrier functions and their corresponding secure-by-construction controllers. To compute these functions, we propose an iterative scheme that leverages iterative sum-of-square programming techniques. This approach enables efficient computation of these functions, particularly for polynomial systems. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our results through a case study of a vehicle. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Enhancing Speech Emotion Recognition With Conditional Emotion Feature Diffusion and Progressive Interleaved Learning Strategy

Speech emotion recognition (SER) aims to identify the speaker's emotional states in specific utterances accurately. However, existing methods still face feature confusion when attempting to recognize certain emotions because traditional acoustic feature extraction methods fail to capture dynamic emotional changes, blurring emotional boundaries. Additionally, existing classification networks (CNs) are constrained by fixed learning strategies, hindering their ability to capture subtle emotional nuances and resulting in label confusion. To address these two issues, we introduce 3D multiresolution modulation filtered cochleogram (MMCG) features by computing the deltas and delta-deltas of MMCG features to enhance the dynamic emotional changes and produce distinct emotional boundaries. We then customize a conditional emotion feature diffusion (CEFD) module, which progressively diffuses features based on emotional context to retain emotional nuances effectively and reduce reliance on conditioned information. In addition, a confidence filtering module is used to filter diffused features based on confidence-based posterior probabilities to ensure enhanced feature discrimination. We design a flexible training strategy named the progressive interleaved learning strategy (PILS) to learn further complex emotional nuances, which consists of two alternating stages: fine-tuning the CN parameters and supervising the CEFD output. Testing on the IEMOCAP, CASIA, and EMODB corpora demonstrates significant performance improvements in SER.

MambaHSISR: Mamba Hyperspectral Image Super-Resolution

One of the main challenges facing hyperspectral image super-resolution is the complex high-dimensional data processing. Mamba leverages its ability to model long-range dependencies of linear complexity to capture the global spatial and spectral information of high-dimensional data while maintaining linear complexity. However, its visual state space equation mainly focuses on the band dimension mapping of the image, while ignoring the modeling of the spatial dimension. To overcome this limitation, we develop a Mamba hyperspectral image super-resolution framework, which comprises three essential components. The first component, i.e., the spatial Mamba subnetwork, models the spatial dimensions of hyperspectral data. It captures long-range dependencies in the pixel space, thereby integrating global spatial information into the framework. The second component, i.e., the spectral Mamba subnetwork, serves to capture long-range spectral dependencies. The third component, i.e., reconstruction, generates hyperspectral images with rich spatial and spectral details through pixel interpolation. Our Mamba framework fully develops the potential of the Mamba model in hyperspectral image super-resolution, significantly enhancing the restoration quality and accuracy of hyperspectral images. Extensive experiments on the Houston and QUST-1 datasets show that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both quantitative metrics and visual quality across diverse scenarios. © 1980-2012 IEEE.
