With the development of assisted driving and autonomous driving, road scene classification has become increasingly important due to its ability to provide environmental information for drivers and autonomous driving, which is beneficial to reduce traffic accidents. However, road scene classification is limited by dataset imbalance and running speed, making it difficult to apply practically. To solve the problems mentioned above, we proposed an Attention-ReXNet network to conduct road scene classification. A balance Softmax cross-entropy is introduced to solve the class imbalance problem in road scene classification. The proposed method is evaluated in the Road Surface Classification Dataset (RSCD), which contains 27 categories and 1 million images with class imbalance. Experimental results show that Attention-ReXNet and balance Softmax cross entropy can achieve the best classification performance, with accuracy and top-1 being 87.67% and 88.52%, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

The novel Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has begun in China and is still affecting thousands of patient livesworldwide *** X-ray and Computed Tomography are the gold standardmedical imaging modalities for diagnosing potentially infected COVID-19 cases,applying Ultrasound(US)imaging technique to accomplish this crucial diagnosing task has attracted many physicians *** this article,we propose two modified deep learning classifiers to identify COVID-19 and pneumonia diseases in US images,based on generative adversarial neural networks(GANs).The proposed image classifiers are a semi-supervised GAN and a modifiedGANwith auxiliary *** one includes a modified discriminator to identify the class of the US image using semi-supervised learning technique,keeping its main function of defining the“realness”of tested *** tests have been successfully conducted on public dataset of US images acquired with a convex US *** study demonstrated the feasibility of using chest US images with two GAN classifiers as a new radiological tool for clinical check of COVID-19 *** results of our proposed GAN models showed that high accuracy values above 91.0%were obtained under different sizes of limited training data,outperforming other deep learning-based methods,such as transfer learning models in the recent ***,the clinical implementation of our computer-aided diagnosis of US-COVID-19 is the future work of this study.

The paper presents project and its verification of a prototype integrated circuit containing an analog, programmable finite impulse response (FIR) filter, implemented in CMOS 350 nm technology. The structure of the filter is based on the switched capacitor technique. In circuits of this type, one of main challenges is an efficient implementation of filter coefficients, which result from several factors described in this work. When implementing such filters as programmable circuits, the values of their coefficients have to be limited to a selected range, i.e. a given resolution in bits. In the implemented prototype filter, the filter coefficients are represented by 6 bits in sign-magnitude notation, so they can take 63 different values only. In such filters, it is not possible to directly implement any frequency response of the filter. Each time, it is necessary to properly round the theoretical values of the coefficients so that they fit into the available range of discrete values resulting from the implementation. The authors of the work designed an algorithm that allows such matching. For doubly salient reluctance machines, the magnetic saturation effect easily occurs, thereby the saturated inductance with complex analytical expression brings difficulties to the inductance modeling procedure during position sensorless control. To tackle this issue, a direct solution from electrical machine design is introduced to regulate magnetic flux distribution. The key is to insert tangentially-magnetized-slot-permanent-magnet into stator slots, thus relieving the magnetic saturation in the stator teeth. Consequently, unsaturated inductance characteristics can be acquired through the magnetic saturation relieving effect, thereby the inductance modeling effort can be significantly decreased, and such design is friendly for doubly salient reluctance machine position sensorless drive application. © 2024 IEEE.

Differential signals are key in control engineering as they anticipate future behavior of process variables and therefore are critical in formulating control laws such as proportional-integral-derivative(PID).The practical challenge,however,is to extract such signals from noisy measurements and this difficulty is addressed first by *** in the form of linear and nonlinear tracking differentiator(TD).While improvements were made,TD did not completely resolve the conflict between the noise sensitivity and the accuracy and timeliness of the *** two approaches proposed in this paper start with the basic linear TD,but apply iterative learning mechanism to the historical data in a moving window(MW),to form two new iterative learning tracking differentiators(IL-TD):one is a parallel IL-TD using an iterative ladder network structure which is implementable in analog circuits;the other a serial IL-TD which is implementable digitally on any computer *** algorithms are validated in simulations which show that the proposed two IL-TDs have better tracking differentiation and de-noise performance compared to the existing linear TD.

Most advanced control methods require a sufficiently accurate model of the system to be controlled. These models are becoming increasingly difficult to generate due to the increasing complexity of the underlying systems. To address this problem, data-driven models can be used. These kind of models are trained based on data of the dynamic system. They can be used for controller design and also be applied directly to control the system. In this work, a stochastic model predictive controller (SMPC) with a Gaussian process model (GP) is utilized. The main advantage of GPs is the construction of a dynamic system model with the possibility of determining the uncertainty of its own prediction. In this contribution, three different utilizations of prediction uncertainty in SMPC are compared. Additionally, two different implementations of dynamic GPs, nonlinear autoregressive exogenous GPs (GP-NARX) and a state-space model based on GPs (GP-SSM), are considered. All six test cases are compared based on an evaluation criterion that describes the resulting control performance. A simulated inverted pendulum, a benchmark for nonlinear and unstable systems, is used as test system. In this work, the combinations of different dynamic GPs and the application of their uncertainty prediction in SMPC are evaluated and compared. © 2023 ICROS.

Every application in a smart city environment like the smart grid,health monitoring, security, and surveillance generates non-stationary datastreams. Due to such nature, the statistical properties of data changes overtime, leading to class imbalance and concept drift issues. Both these issuescause model performance degradation. Most of the current work has beenfocused on developing an ensemble strategy by training a new classifier on thelatest data to resolve the issue. These techniques suffer while training the newclassifier if the data is imbalanced. Also, the class imbalance ratio may changegreatly from one input stream to another, making the problem more *** existing solutions proposed for addressing the combined issue of classimbalance and concept drift are lacking in understating of correlation of oneproblem with the other. This work studies the association between conceptdrift and class imbalance ratio and then demonstrates how changes in classimbalance ratio along with concept drift affect the classifier’s *** analyzed the effect of both the issues on minority and majority classesindividually. To do this, we conducted experiments on benchmark datasetsusing state-of-the-art classifiers especially designed for data stream ***, recall, F1 score, and geometric mean were used to measure theperformance. Our findings show that when both class imbalance and conceptdrift problems occur together the performance can decrease up to 15%. Ourresults also show that the increase in the imbalance ratio can cause a 10% to15% decrease in the precision scores of both minority and majority *** study findings may help in designing intelligent and adaptive solutionsthat can cope with the challenges of non-stationary data streams like conceptdrift and class imbalance.

Breast cancer continues to be a pressing global health concern, emphasizing the essential need for effective diagnostic techniques. Automated Breast Ultrasound Systems (ABUS) provide a promising advance in breast tumor detection, yet they require significant expertise in interpreting 3D ABUS images, a task fraught with distinctive challenges. Although Vision Transformers (ViT) display remarkable potential for image processing, their low inductive bias and significant data requirements pose obstacles, particularly in the data-constrained medical field. To mitigate these issues, we introduce a Mask-Recover strategy for pretraining Transformer models on 3D ABUS images, enhancing model adaptability and reducing the data demands of the ViT model. Moreover, recognizing the risk that ViTs' average pooling approach may unintentionally mask small but vital features, we propose Dual-CapsViT, an inventive model combining Transformers and Capsule Networks. This integration affords efficient token routing while preserving fine-grained details. To reconcile potential inconsistencies between capsules and tokens, we engineer a novel dual-channel routing algorithm, strengthening the decoder's performance. We benchmarked our models against well-known standards such as ResNet and ViT for classifying breast tumors in ABUS images. Our models exhibited superior performance, as evidenced by improved accuracy, specificity, and Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUC) metrics, thereby affirming Dual-CapsViT's potential to enhance breast cancer diagnostics. © 2023 IEEE.

The 3D reconstruction process often requires high-precision depth images. However, based on the limitations of the current depth sensor's own equipment and the influence of shootingobjects, environment and other factors, the obtained depth map often has cavities and noise. Aiming at the problem that the traditional depth map cavity repair algorithm can not take into account the cavity filling and object edge preservation, and can noteffectively use the RGB image information obtained synchronously, a cavity repair algorithm based on RGB image is proposed. The algorithm divides the cavities in the depth map into edge parts and non-edge parts by obtaining the edge information in the RGB image, and then uses different methods to repair the two parts of the cavities:For non-edge cavities, because the neighborhood depth value changes continuously, the neighborhood depth value is directly used for repair;for the cavity at the edge, due to the discontinuous change of the neighborhood depth value, the depthvalue corresponding to the pointwith the largest distance centerweight in the neighborhood is selected to repair the cavity by using the pixel points corresponding to the cavity in the RGB image and its neighborhood. The experimental results show that the algorithm makes full use of the RGB image information, which can accurately fill the depth map cavitys and effectively avoid the edge blur of the object. © 2023 IEEE.
