3D Smith chart constant quality factor semicircles contours for positive and negative resistance circuits

The article proves first that the constant quality factor (Q) contours for passive circuits, while represented on a 2D Smith chart, form circle arcs on a coaxal circle family. Furthermore, these circle arcs represent semi-circles families in the north hemisphere while represented on a 3D Smith chart. On the contrary we show that the constant Q contours for active circuits with negative resistance form complementary circle arcs on the same family of coaxal circles in the exterior of the 2D Smith chart. Also, we find out that these constant Q contours represent complementary semi-circles in the south hemisphere while represented on the 3D Smith chart for negative resistance circuits. The constant Q - computer aided design (CAD) implementation of the Q semi-circles on the 3D Smith chart is then successfully used to evaluate the quality factor variations of newly fabricated Vanadium dioxide inductors first, directly from their reflection coefficient, as the temperature is increased from room temperature to 50 degrees Celsius (°C). Thus, a direct multi-parameter frequency dependent analysis is proposed including Q, inductance and reflection coefficient for inductors. Then, quality factor direct analysis is used for two tunnel diode small signal equivalent circuits analysis, allowing for the first time the Q and input impedance direct analysis on Smith chart representation of a circuit, including negative resistance. With the development of the internet technology, a large amount of softwares have emerged to meet users' increasing needs. At the mean time, software systems have been faced with a problem that they must adapt to the dynamic network environment. It is obvious that a variety of software development models have been proposed in the past few decades. However, the majority of these methods are gradually unadaptable to new circumstances. In this paper, we proposed a new software development model integrating collective intelligence, service and ecosystem. On the one hand, we have introduced the model in detail. On the other hand, We took a practical example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

We investigate the problem of time-of-arrival (TOA) based localization under possible non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions. To robustify the squared-range-based location estimator, we follow the maximum correntropy criterion, essentially the Welsch M-estimator with a redescending inuence function which behaves like 0-minimization towards the grossly biased measurements, to derive the formulation. The half-quadratic technique is then applied to settle the resulting optimization problem in an alternating maximization (AM) manner. By construction, the major computational challenge at each AM iteration boils down to handling an easily solvable generalized trust region subproblem. It is worth noting that the implementation of our localization method requires nothing but merely the TOA-based range measurements and sensor positions as prior information. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the competence of the presented scheme in outperforming several state-of-the-art approaches in terms of positioning accuracy, especially in scenarios where the percentage of NLOS paths is not large enough. Battery energy storage system (BESS) offers various kinds of power system applications with high flexibility and reliability. Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) topology is one of the most promising topologies for large scale BESS. Due to its vital role in energy management, the state of charge (SOC) of BESS is given high importance. This paper focuses on the study of the influence of SOC on the operating boundary of battery energy storage systems. The SOC, boundary of input/output active power, and boundary of reactive power are coupled together. Based on the real 2MW*0.5h/10kV BESS in Baoqing battery energy storage station, Shenzhen, China, the mathematical model of typical single-stage cascaded H-bridge (CHB) BESS is established. Through the aggregation algorithm, a model of the relationship between the potential of the BESS and the SOC is proposed. Considering the BESS potential, current slew and voltage drop across the grid-connection inductors, which determines the input/output currents, the boundaries of input/output active power and reactive power of BESS are analyzed according to SOC range. The paper describes an application of relational structure-independent database for the design of user-configurable information system aimed at the intellectual support of clinical risk management in a hospital. The system represents a clinical decision support system (CDSS) and includes three modules: prevention of hospital-acquired adverse events (HA-AE), HA-AE prevention processes and audit of HA-AE cases. Thanks to flexible system configuration and graphic user interface, the clinical experts are able to compose complex knowledge artifacts directly working with the system, without engagement of knowledge engineers for supporting knowledge formalization or highly skilled professionals to ensure the physical layer performance. The successful practical approval of CDSS in a medical facility opens up prospects for a new level of cognitive support for diagnostic and treatment processes, patient safety improvement and healthcare costs reduction. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.. We study the problem of detecting an attack on a stochastic cyber-physical system. We aim to treat the problem in its most general form. We start by introducing the notion of asymptotically detectable attacks, as those attacks introducing changes to the system’s output statistics which persist asymptotically. We then provide a necessary and sufficient condition for asymptotic detectability. This condition preserves generality as it holds under no restrictive assumption on the system and attacking scheme. To show the importance of this condition, we apply it to detect certain attacking schemes which are undetectable using simple statistics. Our necessary and sufficient condition naturally leads to an algorithm which gives a confidence level for attack detection. Electromagnetic (EM) waves do not travel in straight lines in the troposphere due to refraction. This leads to errors in many engineering applications. In order to correct these errors, a numerical solution based on the difference method has been proposed, which can reveal the degree of EM wave bending owing to atmospheric refraction, moreover, it can predict the actual path of the EM wave propagating in the troposphere. The error of the numerical method is studied here, which reveals the source of the error. Based on this, two improvement methods are proposed. The computational accuracy of the numerical methods is verified by comparison with the analytical solution. The proposed method ensures the computational efficiency and accuracy of the problem of refraction of EM waves in the troposphere. © 2020 SBMO/SBMag

Rate distortion optimization plays a very important role in image/video coding. But for 3D point cloud, this problem has not been investigated. In this paper, the rate and distortion characteristics of 3D point cloud are investigated in detail, and a typical and challenging rate distortion optimization problem is solved for 3D point cloud. Specifically, since the quality of the reconstructed 3D point cloud depends on both the geometry and color distortions, we first propose analytical rate and distortion models for the geometry and color information in video-based 3D point cloud compression platform, and then solve the joint bit allocation problem for geometry and color based on the derived models. To maximize the reconstructed quality of 3D point cloud, the bit allocation problem is formulated as a constrained optimization problem and solved by an interior point method. Experimental results show that the rate-distortion performance of the proposed solution is close to that obtained with exhaustive search but at only 0.68% of its time complexity. Moreover, the proposed rate and distortion models can also be used for the other rate-distortion optimization problems (such as prediction mode decision) and rate control technologies for 3D point cloud coding in the future. A new characterization of balanced rotation symmetric（n, m）-functions is presented. Based on the characterization, the nonexistence of balanced rotation symmetric（pr, m）-functions is determined, where p is an odd prime and m ≥ 2. And there exist balanced rotation symmetric（2r, m）-functions for 2 ≤ m ≤ 2r-r. With the help of these results, we also prove that there exist rotation symmetric resilient（2r, m）-functions for 2 ≤ m ≤ 2r-r-1.
