High-performance self-powered ultraviolet to near-infrared photodetector based on WS_(2)/InSe van der Waals heterostructure

van der Waals heterostructures(vdWHs)based on two-dimensional(2D)materials without the crystal lattice matching constraint have great potential for high-performance optoelectronic ***,a WS_(2)/InSe vdWH photodiode is proposed and fabricated by precisely stacking InSe and WS_(2)flakes through an all-dry transfer *** WS_(2)/InSe vdWH forms an n–n heterojunction with strong built-in electric field due to their intrinsic n-type semiconductor characteristics and energy-band alignments with a large Fermi level offset between WS_(2)and *** a result,the device displays excellent photovoltaic behavior with a large open voltage of 0.47 V and a short-circuit current of 11.7 nA under 520 nm light ***,a fast rising/decay time of 63/76μs,a large light on/off ratio of 105,a responsivity of 61 mA/W,a high detectivity of 2.5×10^(11) Jones,and a broadband photoresponse ranging from ultraviolet to near-infrared(325–980 nm)are achieved at zero *** study provides a strategy for developing high-performance self-powered broadband photodetectors based on 2D materials.

Steganography, adopted to hide secret information into multiple digital carriers, has been widely used by lawbreakers for spiteful purposes, posing a threat to cyber security. Recently, VoIP speech (compressed speech) has been determined as a suitable carrier for steganography. Among the existing VoIP steganography algorithms, QIM-based VoIP steganography has great stealthiness, making it hard to detect. Although some existing studies have been conducted on detecting QIM-based VoIP steganography, some major challenges still exist that need to be addressed. First, no previous study attempts to estimate the payload locations of QIM-based VoIP steganography, a potential research direction, and a practical way of reducing the search space to recover hidden information. Second, the detection performance of existing models on QIM-based VoIP steganography still has a huge room for improvement. To address the above issues, this paper proposes a novel method called the Steganography Payload-localization Model (SPM) as a countermeasure for QIM-based VoIP steganography. Experimental results show that SPM can estimate the payload locations and perform real-time steganalysis regarding QIM-based VoIP steganography with superb performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Industry 4.0 involves the integration of digital technologies, such as IoT, Big Data, and AI, into manufacturing and industrial processes to increase efficiency and productivity. As these technologies become more interconnected and interdependent, Industry 4.0 systems become more complex, which brings the difficulty of identifying and stopping anomalies that may cause disturbances in the manufacturing process. This paper aims to propose a diffusion-based model for real-Time anomaly prediction in Industry 4.0 processes. Using a neuro-symbolic approach, we integrate industrial ontologies in the model, thereby adding formal knowledge on smart manufacturing. Finally, we propose a simple yet effective way of distilling diffusion models through Random Fourier Features for deployment on an embedded system for direct integration into the manufacturing process. One of the major challenges in face recognition is accurately identifying faces under varying lighting conditions, leading to a problem known as Heterogeneous Face Recognition (HFR). The objective is to integrate the capabilities of the modified Dual Variational Generator (DVG-Face) framework with traditional recognition methods, such as Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) and the HaarCascade framework, to provide a robust solution to the challenges of heterogeneous face recognition. This involves developing and implementing a model that successfully handles the complexity of HFR tasks utilizing synthetic images generated from Near-Infrared (NIR) and Visible (VIS) modalities. To guarantee identity consistency in the produced paired heterogeneous images, pairwise identity preserving loss is also used. The integration of Haar Cascades, the LBPH algorithm, and the DVG approach, along with person reidentification using the SSRL model, establishes a reliable framework for facial recognition in real-world security applications.

Recent advances in Internet-of-things (IoT) and 5G infrastructures promote new computational paradigms such as Split Computing (SC) for deploying Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) on mobile applications. In SC, DNNs are partitioned into head and tail sub-models that are executed on the mobile device and cloud/edge servers, respectively. Modern SC models resort to head compression techniques to balance energy consumption, transmission data, and model size while preserving the outstanding accuracy of large state-of-the-art DNNs. These features make SC DNNs suitable for mobile applications, including safety-critical systems (e.g., self-driving vehicles, autonomous robots, and healthcare equipment), where reliability is a paramount factor mandated by strict safety standards. Despite there are many studies available about the reliability of DNNs, the SC models are still unexplored, especially when hardware faults threaten the operation of a mobile device. In this work, we present for the first time $i)$ an application-level fault injection strategy for modeling hardware faults on mobile GPUs executing SC DNNs and ii) an evaluation of the resilience of supervised compression methods utilized by SC systems. The preliminary results gathered on some representative benchmark networks and configurations show the feasibility and effectiveness of the approach. They also demonstrate that aggressive compression strategies lead to high accuracy degradation $(\approx$ 40%), increasing the overall vulnerability of the DNN and the system.

Feature engineering is a crucial step in building well-performing machine learning pipelines. However, manually constructing highly predictive features is time-consuming and requires domain knowledge. Although the research area of automated feature engineering has attracted much interest lately, both in academia and industry, the scalability and efficiency of the existing systems and tools are still practically unsatisfactory. This paper presents a scalable and interpretable automated feature engineering framework, BigFeat, that optimizes input features' quality to maximize the predictive performance according to a user-defined metric. BigFeat employs a dynamic feature generation and selection mechanism that constructs a set of expressive features that improve the prediction performance while retaining interpretability. Extensive experiments are conducted, and the results show that BigFeat provides superior performance compared to the state-of-the-art automated feature engineering framework, AutoFeat, on a wide range of datasets. We show that BigFeat significantly improves the F1-Score of 8 classifiers by 4.59%, on average. In addition, the performance improvement achieved by integrating BigFeat into different AutoML frameworks is higher than that achieved by integrating AutoFeat into the same frameworks. Besides, the scalability of BigFeat is confirmed by its linear complexity, parallel design, and execution time which is, on average, 22x faster than AutoFeat. © 2022 IEEE.

As business processes become increasingly complex, effectively modeling decision points, their likelihood, and resource consumption is crucial for optimizing operations. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a formal extension of the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) that incorporates choices, probabilities, and impacts, referred to as BPMN+CPI. This extension is motivated by the growing emphasis on precise control within business process management, where carefully selecting decision pathways in repeated instances is crucial for conforming to certain standards of multiple resource consumption and environmental impacts. In this context we deal with the problem of synthesizing a strategy (if any) that guarantees that the expected impacts on repeated execution of the input process are below a given threshold. We show that this problem belongs to PSPACE complexity class;moreover we provide an effective procedure for computing a strategy (if present). © 2024, CC BY.

Image segmentation plays a critical role in computer-aided diagnosis and treatment planning for cervical cancer. Obtaining a large number of labeled images for supervised cervical segmentation is often labor-intensive and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a multi-stage semi-supervised learning framework (Semi-CervixSeg) to address the cervical seg-mentation task in ultrasound images for Fetal Ultrasound Grand Challenge: Semi-Supervised Cervical Segmentation in ISBI 2025. Specifically, in the initial stage, we utilize unlabeled data through a multi-view random augmentation strategy, using consistency constraints and a contrastive learning method. Subsequently, a progressive multi-stage training strategy is adopted to generate and optimize pseudo-labels, further improving segmentation results. Experimental re-sults demonstrate that the proposed method significantly im-proves segmentation performance compared with supervised methods. As a technical report for the challenge, this paper elaborates on our methodology and experimental findings in detail. This paper constructs a non-cooperative/cooperative stochasticdifferential game model to prove that the optimal strategies trajectory ofagents in a system with a topological configuration of a Multi-Local-Worldgraph would converge into a certain attractor if the system’s configuration isfixed. Due to the economics and management property, almost all systems aredivided into several independent Local-Worlds, and the interaction betweenagents in the system is more complex. The interaction between agents inthe same Local-World is defined as a stochastic differential cooperativegame;conversely, the interaction between agents in different Local-Worldsis defined as a stochastic differential non-cooperative game. We construct anon-cooperative/cooperative stochastic differential game model to describethe interaction between agents. The solutions of the cooperative and noncooperativegames are obtained by invoking corresponding theories, and thena nonlinear operator is constructed to couple these two solutions *** last, the optimal strategies trajectory of agents in the system is proven toconverge into a certain attractor, which means that strategies trajectory arecertainty as time tends to infinity or a large positive integer. It is concluded thatthe optimal strategy trajectory with a nonlinear operator of cooperative/noncooperativestochastic differential game between agents can make agentsin a certain Local-World coordinate and make the Local-World paymentmaximize, and can make the all Local-Worlds equilibrated;furthermore, theoptimal strategy of the coupled game can converge into a particular attractorthat decides the optimal property.

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular for IoT applications in safety-critical fields (e.g., autonomous systems and biomedical, robots). Unfortunately, the inference’s workload process alone increases as the model size grows. To meet the computational power limitations of mobile devices running IoT applications, modern services sometimes resort to the Split Computing paradigm. Split Computing divides the inference process of a Neural Network into Head and Tail for their execution in a mobile device and a server, respectively, which also allows the reduction of the overall IoT device’s computational cost. Nonetheless, Split Computing can be used in safety-critical fields where reliability is crucial, especially when mobile devices have computational and cost restrictions. This paper introduces hardening techniques acting on the software to mitigate the effects of hardware faults on Split Computing models. The proposed hardening techniques consist of i) a bounded activation function whose thresholds are refined by training, and ii) a per-channel bounding of the bottleneck quantization of the split points. To quantitatively assess their effectiveness, we resorted to two different split configurations of a model for image classification. In addition, we considered a Split Computing model for object detection. Our findings indicate that the proposed approaches effectively reduces fault effects by $\mathbf{3. 5 \%}$ for image classifiers and $5.73 \%$ for object detectors when compared with other hardening approaches for general DNNs.
