As quadrotors take on an increasingly diverse range of roles, researchers often need to develop new hardware platforms tailored for specific tasks, introducing significant engineering overhead. In this article, we introduce the UniQuad series, a unified and versatile quadrotor platform series that offers high flexibility to adapt to a wide range of common tasks, excellent customizability for advanced demands, and easy maintenance in case of crashes. On Optimal Synchronization of Diffusively Coupled Heterogeneous Van der Pol Oscillators

This paper proposes a novel method to achieve and preserve synchronization for a set of connected heterogeneous Van der Pol oscillators. Unlike the state-of-the-art synchronization methods, in which a large coupling gain is applied to couple any pair of connected oscillators, the proposed method first casts the whole synchronization process into two phases. The first one considers the period from the beginning to the first instant of synchronization, while the second phase covers the following time in which synchronization must be preserved. It is shown that a large coupling gain is adopted for the first phase, while the averaged coupling gain to preserve the synchronization in the second phase can be reduced significantly by using an offline optimized coupling law. Efficiency and performance of this method are confirmed by a set of numerical tests with different graphs and system dynamics. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Internet of Things solutions typically involve interaction between sensors, actuators, the cloud, embedded systems and user applications. Often in such cases, there are time constraints specifying the maximum response time to a request. This time depends on the calculation time and transmission time. Existing Internet communication solutions do not ensure the implementation of transmissions in a way that guarantees meeting the set time constraints. This paper proposes a new model of Internet communication dedicated to real-time Internet of Things systems, which includes a communication protocol, as well as a transmission scheduling and routing method. The protocol takes into account information about transmission time constraints, which is used for packet scheduling by routers, allowing to increase quality of service. In addition, the proposed static routing mechanism makes it possible to parallelize transmissions if time constraints are still exceeded. Also presented are preliminary results of experiments showing to what extent the proposed methods allow improving the quality of service in real-time Internet of Things systems.

This paper tackles a joint optimization problem in uplink sparse code multiple access (SCMA) networks to enhance network fairness, i.e., Jain's fairness index (JFI). We propose a novel game-theoretic approach, the worst-case player first-strategy selection (WCPFSS) algorithm, to maximize the minimum achievable rate for all subcarriers while ensuring fair power allocation and optimized subcarrier assignment. This approach effectively manages user interference because each subcarrier acts as a player to exchange their strategies, which are clusters of users associated with each subcarrier. The simulation results confirm the superiority of the proposed WCPFSS method w.r.t. JFI for differential setup parameters.

Decomposition offers the potential to reduce the complexity of model-based optimization, prediction, control and diagnosis by accounting for the structure and sparsity of the describing model. Motivated by this fact, a rich and powerful collection of decomposition methods are available for model based diagnosis of large-scale complex dynamic systems, too. At the same time, one usually does not have enough information about a large-scale complex dynamic system to construct its precise enough model, so a kind of qualitative dynamic model is often used for the diagnosis [1]. Two structural decomposition based qualitative diagnostic methods are presented in this lecture, together with their component-driven system decomposition ***, a model-based diagnostic method is described that is able to detect and isolate non-technical losses (illegal loads) in low voltage electrical grids of one transformer area [2]. As a preliminary off-line step of the diagnosis, a powerful electrical decomposition method is proposed, which breaks down the overall network to subsystems with one feeder layout enabling to make the necessary computations efficient. The diagnostic method is based on analyzing the differences between the measured and model-predicted voltages. The uncertainty in the model parameters together with the measurement uncertainties are also taken into account to make the approach applicable in real-world cases. The proposed method is able to detect and localize multiple illegal loads, and the amount of the illegal consumption can also be *** a second case study, a high level decomposition approach for process system fault diagnosis using event traces is given [3], [4]. Using a simple component graph model behind the process system and the measured trace applied for the diagnosis, the method can find the root cause(s) of propagating failures between separate components. Biometric identification methods using vascular modalities (vein pattern of the finger, wrist, ventral and dorsal part of the metacarpal) use near infrared (NIR) illumination to obtain an image of the vein pattern. The 'classic' attack scenario for this type of biometric system involves the use of a photograph of the user's vein pattern, printed on ordinary office paper and obtained under NIR illumination, as a presentation attack tool. This attack scenario has been well studied by researchers and there are several reliable ways to detect such an attack. New biometric attack vectors on these systems involve the use of attack tools created using NIR reflective compounds. In order to develop effective methods to detect and counter this type of attack, it is necessary to study the characteristics of the attack tool in each of the 750-950 nm NIR sub-bands of the venous channel imaging band. In this paper, the authors present the stages of creating a hardware tool for obtaining an image of the vascular pattern to solve the problem at hand. © 2024 IEEE.

Electrocardiography is one of the most commonly performed examinations when a patient experiences symptoms of heart disease. A detailed analysis of the problem shows that it can also be used to detect and recognize emotions and activity. In this paper, we present several architectures for the analysis of electrocardiogram (ECG) data. Such architectures could be used for activity and emotion detection in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) schemes. The use of deep learning algorithms shows the potential of using popular wearable devices and their usefulness for this analysis. Here, we present the preliminary results of our analysis, which provide promising conclusions on the application of a complete AAC framework. The presented methodology is applicable for the classification of the ECG data and can be further used with wearable devices. The conclusions and results of the study presented allow us to investigate real-time data analysis with a wearable device to predict certain cardiac conditions. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The contribution begins with the attention that there is attention of directly grid connected wind turbine systems with generator designs adapting to the grid constraints. This paper considers permanent magnet synchronous generator topologies with rotor field coils to achieve reduced mass with good efficiency for smart grids. Conventional double-excited synchronous generators have surface mounted permanent magnets. However, the low relative permeability of PMs results in an increased air-gap size. This increased air-gap size limits the minimal copper-mass of the rotor-field-winding. To improve on this limitation, Interior permanent magnets (IPM) are used. Three rotor topologies with IPM are presented in this paper. The analysis of their 2D FEM results and optimization are shown considering their magnetizing current, torque, Back EMF for smart grids application. The three rotor topologies are compared on the overall active mass and their performance by considering PM and rotor copper mass, torque capabilities and efficiency. The spoke-type topology with rectangular magnets achieves the lowest total rotor mass reduction of 39% total mass reduction when compared to the topology with PMs that are buried horizontally. The reduced copper mass and flux variation capabilities are good characteristics in wind energy conversion generators with direct grid connections for smart grid. © 2023 IEEE.

In today's world, connectivity and performance-driven technology are rapidly advancing each year, and new platforms and mechanisms are being utilized to enhance the security and performance of databases and cloud computing, which are trending in the global market. This examination focused on customer information security in cloud computing, i.e., information stockpiling security issues and how to control unapproved access to data by proposing access control; valuable measures were characterized subsequently, and an entrance control show was prescribed. Cloud computing can be described as an innovation that depends on the web and the sharing of resources. It has an adaptable foundation that customers can use with much of a stretch. With its wide event relationship, there are numerous obstacles to continuing with cloud computing because of security issues, mostly considering customer data security. The proposed study helped hesitant clients sensibly continue forward in the cloud while understanding the dangers of cloud computing. The research objective is to examine the security techniques employed in cloud technology to improve its performance by utilizing data mining within a unified cache system. We will apply the Apriori algorithm as a proposed solution to be used in a single cache while considering the security measures in the cloud. The study expects to apply this method to all cloud providers and vendors by entering data into a single cache mechanism that can be extended into different components and implemented using SPSS modelers to improve the security of the database.

Multilingual Neural Machine Translation (NMT) excels in sharing knowledge across languages and transferring insights from high-resource languages to improve performance in low-resource languages. However, its performance lags in specific domains such as legal and medical. Previous works have focused on adding language-specific and domain-specific adapters to achieve domain adaptation. Although effective, these adapter-based methods only use domain data to train additional parameters, limiting the performance of multilingual NMT. In this paper, we propose CDSTX, a novel approach that achieves robust multilingual domain adaptation without relying on adapters, solely leveraging multilingual models. Specifically, we utilize the pretrained model XLM-R and frozen embeddings to preserve its robust multilingual capabilities and design a two-stage training strategy for domain adaptation. This includes separate training for the decoder and fine-tuning of the entire model, ensuring that the model effectively acquires domain knowledge and correctly represents domain-specific text. Moreover, to better utilize the domain information conveyed implicitly by the training data, we devise special domain tokens at the beginning of the source and target sentences called Source&Target Domain Tags. In addition, back translation is employed to enhance the cross-lingual transfer ability of our approach. Our proposed method is evaluated on two datasets across three translation tasks: Single-domain Multilingual NMT, Multi-domain bilingual NMT, and Multilingual Multi-domain NMT. Notably, in the single-domain multilingual NMT task, CDSTX significantly enhances zero-shot domain translation performance, achieving improvements of up to +30 BLEU points through the utilization of back-translation techniques.
