Cardiovascular illness stands as a significant global health issue, and timely identification of this condition holds paramount importance to ensure effective intervention. In this paper, we introduce a fused model for anticipating heart ailments. This amalgamation incorporates four distinct algorithms: LightGBM, XGBoost, Multilayer Perceptron, and AdaBoost. Through an assessment on the Cleveland dataset, AdaBoost emerged as the most accurate with a precision of 0.985. Subsequently, XGBoost followed closely with an accuracy of 0.980, succeeded by LightGBM at 0.956, and Multilayer Perceptron at 0.936. To harness the collective power of these models, we employed a weighted bagging technique that accords weights to predictions based on their individual accuracy rates. The resultant composite model attained an accuracy of 0.96. This outcome is slightly lower than the model with the highest accuracy, as it involves a weighted mean calculation across model predictions. This study indicates the potential utility of the proposed methodology in cardiac disease prediction, leveraging the ensemble approach to potentially outperform standalone models. © 2023 IEEE.

The advent of industrial robotics and autonomous systems endow human-robot collaboration in a massive scale. However, current industrial robots are restrained in co-working with human in close proximity due to inability of interpreting human agents' attention. Human attention study is non-trivial since it involves multiple aspects of the mind: perception, memory, problem solving, and consciousness. Human attention lapses are particularly problematic and potentially catastrophic in industrial workplace, from assembling electronics to oper-ating machines. Attention is indeed complex and cannot be easily measured with single-modality sensors. Eye state, head pose, posture, and manifold environment stimulus could all play a part in attention lapses. To this end, we propose a pipeline to annotate multimodal dataset of human attention tracking, including eye tracking, fixation detection, third-person surveil-lance camera, and sound. We produce a pilot dataset containing two fully annotated phone assembly sequences in a realistic manufacturing environment. We evaluate existing fatigue and drowsiness prediction methods for attention lapse detection. Experimental results show that human attention lapses in production scenarios are more subtle and imperceptible than well-studied fatigue and drowsiness. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) presents a promising approach for charging electric vehicles (EVs), offering increased convenience, reliability, and safety for EV customers. Recently, the incorporation of multiple coil structures in wireless charging systems has addressed various operational challenges, enhanced power transfer, and provided a scalable solution for EVs. However, cross-coupling issues and space limitation problems arise when multiple coils are introduced to the WPT system. In this paper, a novel integrated compact coupler is proposed, including two naturally decoupled coils on the transmitter side, while both are coupled with the receiver coil to improve the power transfer capability of the system. ANSYS Maxwell is employed to simulate the proposed coupler and evaluate its performance under misalignment operations. The proposed wireless charging system inherently detects misalignment direction based on the variation of output voltage with respect to x-misalignment. As a result, the experimental prototype of the designed wireless WPT system presents a peak efficiency of 97.08% at 1.147-kW output power for an air gap of 120 mm under fully-aligned condition. Additionally, the designed compensation coil can transfer power of 243.76-W under fully-aligned condition and increases reliability in power transfer during misalignment operations. © 2013 IEEE.

DeepMIDE: A Multivariate Spatio-Temporal Method for Ultra-Scale Offshore Wind Energy Forecasting

To unlock access to stronger winds, the offshore wind industry is advancing with significantly larger and taller wind turbines. This massive upscaling motivates a departure from univariate wind forecasting methods that traditionally focused on a single representative height. To fill this gap, we propose DeepMIDE—a statistical deep learning method which jointly models the offshore wind speeds across space, time, and height. DeepMIDE is formulated as a multi-output integro-difference equation model with a multivariate, nonstationary, and state-dependent kernel characterized by a set of advection vectors that encode the physics of wind field formation and propagation. Embedded within DeepMIDE, an advanced deep learning architecture learns these advection vectors from high-dimensional streams of exogenous weather information, which, along with other parameters, are plugged back into the statistical model for probabilistic multi-height space-time forecasting. Tested on real-world data from future offshore wind energy sites in the Northeastern United States, the wind speed and power forecasts from DeepMIDE are shown to outperform those from prevalent time series, spatio-temporal, and deep learning methods. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Cryptocurrencies have gained immense significance and popularity in recent times. With thousands of digital currencies available, selecting the right one can be challenging for users. In the financial sector, accurately predicting future prices is crucial for profitable investments in digital currencies. However, price prediction in this realm poses unique challenges, as it lacks physical goods or services as the basis, unlike stock prices. Machine learning emerges as a pivotal tool for addressing this challenge and plays a vital role in price prediction. This research analyzes five prominent currencies - Monero, Bitcoin, Ethereum, IOTA, and Zcash - employing five models: SVR, LRG, Huber, RANSAC, MLP, and AdaBoost. The experimental results demonstrate promising outcomes, showcasing the ability to predict digital currency prices with an impressive R2 score of 1.0 for specific machine learning algorithms. This advancement opens new avenues for informed decision-making and profitable ventures in the dynamic world of digital currencies. © 2023 IEEE.

An Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered hybrid smart parking system optimizes parking allocation across various applications, including smart hospitals, colleges, offices, and shopping malls. The system uses AI and IoT technologies to enhance the user experience, streamline operations, and improve efficiency. It dynamically allocates parking spaces based on real-time demand, user preferences, and contextual factors. The system accurately predicts parking demand, optimizes space allocation and provides personalized recommendations, reducing congestion and waiting times. The hybrid smart parking algorithm combines machine learning techniques with domain-specific insights to prioritize parking allocation in diverse environments. The study emphasizes the importance of leveraging advanced technologies to address complex urban challenges, such as parking management, and aims to pave the way for sustainable, efficient, and user-centric parking solutions in smart cities. and Random Forest with an overall average score of 0.9400. Machine learning has become crucial for optimizing parking management systems, especially in densely populated cities. To address this challenge, advanced predictive models have been developed to anticipate parking duration based on slot availability, peak hours, and traffic conditions. The Random Forest model outperforms Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and K-Nearest Neighbors in predicting parking length, achieving high accuracy and performance metrics. It maintains user satisfaction and low operational costs, making it a recommended system for further implementation in parking management tasks. The classification report shows a respectable performance with 50% accuracy and a good recall for open slots. The optimization procedure was effective and did not reveal any notable areas for improvement. Additive manufacturing is an innovative production approach aimed at creating products that traditional techniques cannot produce with the desired quality and requirements. Throughout the additive manufacturing process, data is either used (such as materials properties, printer characteristics and settings) or generated (such as monitoring data during printing, slicing strategies setting parameters). However, managing such data with complex relationships remains a significant challenge in both research and industry in the additive manufacturing field. To address this issue, we developed a modular ontology that can be used as the basis for a framework that supports decision-making systems, facilitate semanticsaware data management, and enhance the understanding and optimization of additive manufacturing processes. In this paper we focus on one of the state-of-the-art additive manufacturing approaches, i.e., powder bed fusion. To show the use and the feasibility of our approach, we created a knowledge graph for an actual additive manufacturing experiment based on our ontology, and show how queries relevant to domain experts can be answered using this knowledge graph. © 2024 CEUR-WS. Facial emotion recognition is now becoming a hot topic in previous years as it helps in human computer interaction. As human emotions can be detected, there are various studies on it in the computer vision field. Humans can easily recognize the type of emotion from someone's facial expressions but it's tough for a computer machine. FER can be used in vast areas for applications such as education, social media, healthcare, Al based application, etc. In this research paper, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique has been built. The methodology is mainly divided into two steps: Haar cascade features from the face are extracted by using Viola Jones algorithm leading to facial identification and then facial emotion is recognised by using the help of neural network. This technique is built on conventional neural networks (CNN) and it has used FER2013 and CK+ dataset for detection of human emotions. This model consists of 3 completed connected layers and six convolutional layers. On the basis of our experimental results, this model has a validation accuracy of 68.26% with FER 2013 dataset and 91.58% with CK+ dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy (CAN) is a frequent complication of diabetes that presents a diagnostic challenge in clinical settings. Ewing tests, comprising five assessments of blood pressure and heart rate, have traditionally been used to categorize the severity of CAN. This paper investigates the application of a machine learning (ML) approach that leverages patient demographic information and electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings to automatically classify CAN dysfunction without any of the Ewing tests. Additionally, the ML model being proposed addresses the challenges posed by imbalanced datasets both at the data level, through the utilization of synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE), and at the algorithmic level, by employing the focal loss function. The effectiveness of the proposed techniques is reflected in the ROC curve achieving an area under curve (AUC) value of 92%. Moreover, the model is able to produce 80% accurate prediction of the development of CAN. However, for enhancing system's classification performance, two Ewing tests are supported as additional features. A higher performance is achieved as indicated by accuracy and F1-score values of 88% and 88%, respectively.

Text style transfer, an important research direction in natural language processing, aims to adapt the text to various preferences but often faces challenges with limited resources. In this work, we introduce a novel method termed Style Extraction and Tunable Inference via Dual-level Transferable Prompt Learning (SETTP) for effective style transfer in low-resource scenarios. First, SETTP learns source style-level prompts containing fundamental style characteristics from high-resource style transfer. During training, the source style-level prompts are transferred through an attention module to derive a target style-level prompt for beneficial knowledge provision in low-resource style transfer. Additionally, we propose instance-level prompts obtained by clustering the target resources based on the semantic content to reduce semantic bias. We also propose an automated evaluation approach of style similarity based on alignment with human evaluations using ChatGPT-4. Our experiments across three resourceful styles show that SETTP requires only 1/20th of the data volume to achieve performance comparable to state-of-the-art methods. In tasks involving scarce data like writing style and role style, SETTP outperforms previous methods by 16.24%. © 2024 The Authors.
