Object Detection is the task of localization and classification of objects in a video or *** recent times,because of its widespread applications,it has obtained more *** the modern world,waste pollution is one significant environmental *** prominence of recycling is known very well for both ecological and economic reasons,and the industry needs higher *** object detection utilizing deep learning(DL)involves training a machine-learning method to classify and detect various types of waste in videos or *** technology is utilized for several purposes recycling and sorting waste,enhancing waste management and reducing environmental *** studies of automatic waste detection are difficult to compare because of the need for benchmarks and broadly accepted standards concerning the employed data ***,this study designs an Entropy-based Feature Fusion using Deep Learning forWasteObject Detection and Classification(EFFDL-WODC)*** presented EFFDL-WODC system inherits the concepts of feature fusion and DL techniques for the effectual recognition and classification of various kinds of waste *** the presented EFFDL-WODC system,two major procedures can be contained,such as waste object detection and waste object *** object detection,the EFFDL-WODC technique uses a YOLOv7 object detector with a fusionbased backbone *** addition,entropy feature fusion-based models such as VGG-16,SqueezeNet,and NASNetmodels are ***,the EFFDL-WODC technique uses a graph convolutional network(GCN)model performed for the classification of detected waste *** performance validation of the EFFDL-WODC approach was validated on the benchmark *** comprehensive comparative results demonstrated the improved performance of the EFFDL-WODC technique over recent approaches.

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, ensuring the security of systems requires continuous authentication over sessions and comprehensive access management during user interaction with a device. With the increasing use of smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Split Learning (SL) and Federated Learning (FL) have emerged as promising technologies that can tackle the authentication problem while protecting the user's private data. The SL distributed technology enables users with limited resources to complete neural network model training with server assistance, lessening the computational burden from the client side. In addition, FL aims to combine knowledge between different nodes collaboratively. The privacy and security of the user's data are ensured in both approaches, as only the models' weights are shared with a server. This study employs a cluster-based approach using split learning and federated learning techniques to improve the efficiency and robustness of training Machine Learning (ML) models. We compare the approaches' performance to baseline methods and demonstrate their advantages using the UMDAA-02-FD face detection and MNIST datasets. Our findings show that combining both technologies achieves high accuracy in continuous authentication scenarios while maintaining user privacy. These results highlight the importance of SL and FL in cybersecurity, enabling continuous authentication and demonstrating their potential to revolutionize how we address security. © 2023 IEEE.

Research into the engineering of infrastructure systems is increasingly data intensive. Researchers build computational models to explore scenarios such as investigating the merits of infrastructure plans, analysing historical data to inform system operations or assessing the impacts of infrastructure on the environment. Models are more complex, at higher resolution and with larger coverage. Researchers also require a 'multi-systems' approach to explore interactions between systems, such as energy and water with urban development, and across scales, from buildings and streets to regions or nations. Consequently, researchers need enhanced computational resources to support cross-institutional collaboration and sharing at scale. The Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure (DAFNI) is an emerging computational platform for infrastructure systems research. It provides high-throughput compute resources so larger data sets can be used, with a data repository to upload data and share these with collaborators. Users' models can also be uploaded and executed using modern containerisation techniques, giving platform independence, scaling and sharing. Further, models can be combined into workflows, supporting multi-systems modelling and generating visualisations to present results. DAFNI forms a central resource accessible to all infrastructure systems researchers in the UK, supporting collaboration and providing a legacy, keeping data and models available beyond the lifetime of a project. © 2023 Emerald Publishing Limited: All rights reserved.

Delegating large-scale computations to service providers is a common practice which raises privacy concerns. This paper studies information-theoretic privacy-preserving del-egation of data to a service provider, who may further delegate the computation to auxiliary worker nodes, in order to compute a polynomial over that data at a later point in time. We study techniques which are compatible with robust management of distributed computation systems, an area known as coded computing. Privacy in coded computing, however, has tradition-ally addressed the problem of colluding workers, and assumed that the server that administrates the computation is trusted. This viewpoint of privacy does not accurately reflect real-world privacy concerns, since normally, the service provider as a whole (i.e., the administrator and the worker nodes) form one cohesive entity which itself poses a privacy risk. This paper aims to shift the focus of privacy in coded computing to safeguarding the privacy of the user against the service provider as a whole, instead of merely against colluding workers inside the service provider. To this end, we leverage the recently defined notion of perfect subset privacy, which guarantees zero information leakage from all subsets of the data up to a certain size. Using known techniques from Reed-Muller decoding, we provide a scheme which enables polynomial computation with perfect subset privacy in straggler-free systems. Furthermore, by studying information super-sets in Reed-Muller codes, which may be of independent interest, we extend the previous scheme to tolerate straggling worker nodes inside the service provider.

This paper proposes a new pre-processing technique to separate the most effective features from those that might deteriorate the performance of the machine learning classifiers in terms of computational costs and classification accuracy because of their irrelevance,redundancy,or less information;this pre-processing process is often known as feature *** technique is based on adopting a new optimization algorithm known as generalized normal distribution optimization(GNDO)supported by the conversion of the normal distribution to a binary one using the arctangent transfer function to convert the continuous values into binary ***,a novel restarting strategy(RS)is proposed to preserve the diversity among the solutions within the population by identifying the solutions that exceed a specific distance from the best-so-far and replace them with the others created using an effective updating *** strategy is integrated with GNDO to propose another binary variant having a high ability to preserve the diversity of the solutions for avoiding becoming stuck in local minima and accelerating convergence,namely improved GNDO(IGNDO).The proposed GNDO and IGNDO algorithms are extensively compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms to verify their performance on thirteen medical instances taken from the UCI *** is shown to be superior in terms of fitness value and classification accuracy and competitive with the others in terms of the selected *** the principal goal in solving the FS problem is to find the appropriate subset of features that maximize classification accuracy,IGNDO is considered the best.

In this paper, the generalized Nash equilibrium (GNE) seeking problem for continuous games with coupled affine inequality constraints is investigated in a partial-decision information scenario, where each player can only access its neighbors' information through local communication although its cost function possibly depends on all other players' strategies. To this end, a novel decentralized primal-dual algorithm based on consensus and dual diffusion methods is devised for seeking the variational GNE of the studied games. This paper also provides theoretical analysis to show that the designed algorithm converges linearly for the last-iterate, which, to our best knowledge, is the first to propose a linearly convergent GNE seeking algorithm under coupled affine inequality constraints. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the obtained theoretical results.

Today’s marketing strategies place a high priority on comprehending customer sentiments. It will not only give businesses a better understanding of how their clients view their goods and/or services, but it will also give them suggestions on how to enhance their offerings. We make an effort to comprehend the relationship between various factors in customer reviews on an online store for women’s clothing. The proposed system also classifies each review, according to, whether it recommends the product in question or not, and whether it has a positive, negative, or neutral sentiment. With the exception of review titles and review texts, we used univariate and multivariate analyses on datasets features to accomplish these goals. Additionally, we have implemented a bidirectional recurrent neural network (RNN) with a long-short term memory unit (LSTM) for sentiment and recommendation.

This paper introduces a novel design method that enhances the force/torque, bendability, and controllability of soft pneumatic actuators (SPAs). The complex structure of the soft actuator is simplified by approximating it as a cantilever beam. This allows us to derive approximated nonlinear kinematic models and a dynamical model, which is explored to understand the correlation between natural frequency and dimensional parameters of SPA. The design problem is then transformed into an optimization problem, using kinematic equations as the objective function and the dynamical equation as a constraint. By solving this optimization problem, the optimal dimensional parameters are determined. Six prototypes are manufactured to validate the proposed approach. The optimal actuator successfully generates the desired force/torque and bending angle, while its natural frequency remains within the constrained range. This work highlights the potential of using optimization formulation and approximated nonlinear models to boost the performance and dynamical properties of soft pneumatic actuators. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.
