Addressing privacy concerns and the evolving nature of user preferences, it is crucial to explore collaborative training methods for federated recommendation models that match the performance of centralized models while preserving user privacy. Existing federated recommendation models primarily rely on static relational data, overlooking the temporal patterns that dynamically evolve over time. In domains like travel recommendations, factors such as the availability of attractions, introduction of new activities, and media coverage constantly change, influencing user preferences. To tackle these challenges, we propose a novel approach called FedNTF. It leverages an LSTM encoder to capture multidimensional temporal interactions within relational data. By incorporating tensor factorization and multilayer perceptrons, we project users and items into a latent space with time encoding, enabling the learning of nonlinear relationships among diverse latent factors. This approach not only addresses the privacy concerns by preserving the confidentiality of user data but also enables the modeling of temporal dynamics to enhance the accuracy and relevance of recommendations over time. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Internet of Things (IoT) produces massive amounts of data that need to be processed and saved securely. The strong features of Blockchain makes it as a best candidate for storing the data received from IoT sensors. However, there is a need of concern to take care of the challenges associated with both IoT and blockchain paradigms. Firstly, the enormous amount of data should be effortlessly handled by Blockchain network, without adding much complexity. Secondly, the heterogeneous nature of data that are received from various IoT Sensors should be stored within the blockchain. In this paper, a conceptual framework based on Multimodal Machine Learning (MML) algorithm is proposed as an interface between the IoT sensors and Blockchain networks. The MML algorithm is used to understand the different modalities of the data and provides a way to manage the heterogeneity in that data. The MML algorithms provides an intelligent data processing that allows for real-time data storage in the blockchain networks. The conceptual frame assumes that audio, video, and text are the three types of data as received from IoT. These inputs are processed in simplistic Recurrent neural network RNN that acts as MML and then passed to Blockchain networks for secure storage. Simulation of the above said conceptual framework is performed assuming all other relevant requirements of IoT, MML and Blockchain are taken into account with default parameters and values. The results obtained provide a promising note for future scope in this direction. © 2024 IEEE.

Addressing the anti-counterfeiting and verification issues of handwritten signatures, a traceable offline handwritten signature anti-counterfeiting and verification system is proposed. The system consists of four parts: a front-end mobile terminal application system, a database storage system, a backend management system, and a portable dynamic encoding stamp device. The system can achieve traceability of signatures, thereby more effectively preventing counterfeit signatures. The front-end mobile terminal application system can generate a unique two-dimensional code based on the relevant information of the signature file and send it to the database system for storage, while also sending it to the portable dynamic encoding stamp device. The portable dynamic encoding stamp device can receive the dynamic two-dimensional code from the front-end mobile terminal application system and produce a two-dimensional code imprint. The database system can store information such as signature file details, corresponding QR codes, and signature photos, which can be used for traceability queries and verification. The proposed system utilizes the SHA algorithm to generate unique codes and can generate corresponding QR code prints on a portable dynamic encoding device. When signing, a QR code seal is affixed, and during signature verification, the QR code on the signature file can be compared with the information in the database to verify the authenticity of the signature. When needed, signature photos stored in the database can also be used for further verification through machine learning. Compared with traditional signature verification methods, this method has better effectiveness. © 2024 The Authors.

From Missing Pieces to Masterpieces: Image Completion with Context-Adaptive Diffusion

Image completion is a challenging task, particularly when ensuring that generated content seamlessly integrates with existing parts of an image. While recent diffusion models have shown promise, they often struggle with maintaining coherence between known and unknown (missing) regions. This issue arises from the lack of explicit spatial and semantic alignment during the diffusion process, resulting in content that does not smoothly integrate with the original image. Additionally, diffusion models typically rely on global learned distributions rather than localized features, leading to inconsistencies between the generated and existing image parts. In this work, we propose ConFill, a novel framework that introduces a Context-Adaptive Discrepancy (CAD) model to ensure that intermediate distributions of known and unknown regions are closely aligned throughout the diffusion process. By incorporating CAD, our model progressively reduces discrepancies between generated and original images at each diffusion step, leading to contextually aligned completion. Moreover, ConFill uses a new Dynamic Sampling mechanism that adaptively increases the sampling rate in regions with high reconstruction complexity. This approach enables precise adjustments, enhancing detail and integration in restored areas. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ConFill outperforms current methods, setting a new benchmark in image completion. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Widespread applications of 5G technology have prompted the outsourcing of computation dominated by the Internet of Things(IoT)cloud to improve transmission efficiency,which has created a novel paradigm for improving the speed of common connected objects in ***,although it makes it easier for ubiquitous resource-constrained equipment that outsources computing tasks to achieve high-speed transmission services,security concerns,such as a lack of reliability and collusion attacks,still exist in the outsourcing *** this paper,we propose a reliable,anti-collusion outsourcing computation and verification protocol,which uses distributed storage solutions in response to the issue of centralized storage,leverages homomorphic encryption to deal with outsourcing computation and ensures data ***,we embed outsourcing computation results and a novel polynomial factorization algorithm into the smart contract of Ethereum,which not only enables the verification of the outsourcing result without a trusted third party but also resists collusion *** results of the theoretical analysis and experimental performance evaluation demonstrate that the proposed protocol is secure,reliable,and more effective compared with state-of-the-art approaches.

A Mathematical and Dynamical Model for Analyzing H-Shaped PM Vernier Motor for Electric Motorcycle Mid-Drive Applications

The permanent magnet (PM) Vernier machines enhance torque density and decrease cogging torque compared to conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor. This paper presents a novel fractional-slot H-shaped PM Vernier machines, which incorporates unique design for the PM housing and rotor core construction. These designs are specifically optimized for the small-scale electric vehicles application. The choice of the PM arrangement is based on the combination of V-shaped and spoke-array PM topologies. The aim is to achieve a higher torque density than V-shaped PM machines, while reducing cogging torque compared to spoke-array PM machines. By using this methodology, leakage fluxes in the terminal region of the PMs reduce, resulting in an augmentation of both flux-linkage and power factor. A prototype 680 W motor was fabricated with 12 slots and 8 poles to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model. Mathematical model and dynamical analysis are proposed for the analytical prediction of machine performance. Due to the unique shape feature of the machine, the conformal mapping approach is applied to design the rotor core. To validate the model, the predicted performance of the motor was compared with those obtained by finite element analysis and experiments. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Urban heat island (UHI) effects, especially in highly urbanised areas, and greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are two elements that accelerate global climate change (GCC). Sustainable city planning and modification may benefit from the quantification of the surface UHI (SUHI) effect utilising land surface temperature (LST), local climate zones (LCZ), and deep learning methods like convolutional neural networks (CNN) and pix2pix. The findings show that socioeconomic variables account for 12–20% of variability in UHI intensity. In general, the contribution rate of urban economic scale is higher than that of population and industrial structure variables. The increase in urban economic expansion increased summertime heat discomfort. This research propose novel method in socioeconomic analysis based on urban heat pattern analysis with public healthcare system using decision-making with DL (deep learning) model. Input is collected as urban heat pattern dataset and processed for noise removal and normalisation. This data has been features are extracted and classified using convolutional fuzzy Q-Gaussian neural network and variational K-C-means regressive learning. The simulation analysis has been carried out based on training accuracy, average precision, recall, and F-measure. The proposed model attained average precision was 94%, recall was 90%, training accuracy was 97%, and F1-score was 92%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

LLM-based methods for the creation of unit tests in game development

Problems related to the quality of games, whether on the initial release or after updates, can lead to player dissatisfaction, media attention, and potential financial setbacks. These issues can stem from software bugs, performance bottlenecks, or security vulnerabilities. Despite these challenges, game developers often rely on manual playtesting, highlighting the need for more robust and automated processes in game development. This research explores the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate the creation of unit tests in game development, focusing on strongly typed programming languages such as C++ and C#, which are widely used in the industry. The study focuses on fine-tuning Code Llama, an advanced code generation model, to address common scenarios in game development, including game engines and specific APIs or backends. Although the prototyping and evaluations primarily took place within the Unity game engine, the proposed methods can be adapted to other internal or publicly available solutions. The evaluation results demonstrate these methods’ effectiveness in improving existing unit test suites or automatically generating new tests based on natural language descriptions of class contexts and targeted methods.

Traffic congestion has become a major issue that is being faced by the majority of road users. The increasing vehicle usage, and the lack of space and funds to construct new transport infrastructure, further complicates the issue. In this scenario, it is important to come up with an intelligent and economical solution that improves the quality of road users' service. The problem with the traffic handling framework is signal timings are fixed which is not adaptive to the density of vehicles. To address this issue we propose an Edge-Augument Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) road user cooperation for traffic management. The proposed system efficiently utilizes electronic devices to learn and adapt to changing traffic conditions in real-time. By optimizing the traffic signal timings based on the actual traffic conditions, adaptive systems reduce delay, improve traffic flow, reduce fuel consumption and pollution, and improve the electronics consumers' and road users' experiences. The proposed system has been tested with real-time experiments by integrating Electronic devices like cameras, smartphones, and AGX Xavier (edge device) with Cloud (ThingSpeak). The proposed system is verified by simulating the proposed system in the SUMO traffic simulator and its reliability is concluded by comparing the waiting time, depart delay, running, and halt time with the existing traditional method. © 2025 IEEE.
