The economy is one of the determinants of how a person can live their life. In this current economic situation, inflation occurs everywhere, causing the prices of necessities to rise. In order to have a decent life, people must find a job with the highest possible salary to fulfill their needs. Various job industries have their salary range. Obtaining the information of salary level for the respective job is helpful for employers and employees to estimate the expected salary. This work aims to classify the salary level of jobs available in Indonesia and determine whether those salaries are decent enough. The learning methods are logistic regression, decision tree, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, voting classifier, bagging classifier, random forest, and boosting classifier. Random Forest achieved the best result with an accuracy rate of 72%. Based on the analysis result, factors such as job field, educational background, working experience, working hours, and job location influence salary. © 2023 IEEE.

Power electronics plays a pivotal role in modern energy systems, contributing to improved efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced control in various applications such as renewable energy integration, electric vehicles, and smart grids. This vital domain within electrical engineering, has undergone a remarkable transformation through the integration of Machine Learning, as the power electronics industry has witnessed significant advancements in optimizing operations, improving reliability, and enabling sustainable energy solutions. This research paper presents various strategies of Machine learning used in power electronics. It focuses on using Machine Learning based models to examine and train various voltage and current record units obtained by simulated malfunctioning transmission line model created with Matlab /Simulink. This yielded a dataset consisting of 12,001 fault data samples. Machine Learning models SVM, KNN and Decision Tree were trained on the same data and were employed to detect the faults. Next, the model was chosen for its strong fault detection capabilities and potential, which were evaluated based on accuracy, precision, and the F1- score. Effective fault detection techniques play a crucial role in optimizing power system control, reducing energy wastage, and ensuring top-notch performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and its variants exhibit immense potential in tackling combinatorial optimization challenges. However, their practical realization confronts a dilemma: the requisite circuit depth for satisfactory performance is problem-specific and often exceeds the maximum capability of current quantum devices. To address this dilemma, here we first analyze the convergence behavior of QAOA, uncovering the origins of this dilemma and elucidating the intricate relationship between the employed mixer Hamiltonian, the specific problem at hand, and the permissible maximum circuit depth. Harnessing this understanding, we introduce the Mixer Generator Network (MG-Net), a unified deep learning framework adept at dynamically formulating optimal mixer Hamiltonians tailored to distinct tasks and circuit depths. Systematic simulations, encompassing Ising models and weighted Max-Cut instances with up to 64 qubits, substantiate our theoretical findings, highlighting MG-Net's superior performance in terms of both approximation ratio and efficiency. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. The existence of adversarial example reveals the fragility in neural networks, and the exploration of their theoretical origins increases the interpretability of deep learning, enhances researchers’ understanding of neural networks, and contributes to the development of next-generation artificial intelligence, which has attracted widespread research in various fields. The targeted adversarial attack problem based on sample features faces two problems: on the one hand, the difference in the model’s attention to different features in the example;On the other hand, the bias that occurs in adversarial attacks can have an impact on targeted attacks. The mechanism of the human eye relies more on the shape information of the image. However, in the past, artificial intelligence models based on convolutional neural networks often relied on the texture features of image examples to make decisions. At present, general optimize adversarial attack algorithms do not distinguish different types of features based on different parts of the image, but only process the entire example in a general manner, making it difficult to effectively utilize the effective features in the example, resulting in poor algorithm performance and interpretability. This article optimizes the adversarial attack algorithm based on optimization iteration, as follows: Firstly, different types of information in adversarial examples are studied, and fourier transform technology is used to process the attacked original image and obtain its low-frequency information. The obtained low-frequency examples are randomly cropped to obtain some feature examples. Then, the clustering effect was studied when the examples were attacked without targets, and an inter-class smoothing loss was designed to improve the success rate of target attacks. Deep neural networks (DNNs) have been the driving force behind many of the recent advances in machine learning. However, research has shown that DNNs are vulnerable to adversarial examples - input samples that have been perturbed to force DNN-based models to make errors. As a result, adversarial machine learning (AdvML) has gained a lot of attention, and researchers have investigated these vulnerabilities in various settings and modalities. In addition, DNNs have also been found to incorporate embedded bias and often produce unexplainable predictions, which can result in antisocial AI applications. The emergence of new AI technologies that leverage large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT and GPT-4, increases the risk of producing antisocial applications at scale. AdvML for social good (AdvML4G) is an emerging field that repurposes the AdvML bug to invent prosocial applications. Regulators, practitioners, and researchers should collaborate to encourage the development of prosocial applications and hinder the development of antisocial ones. In this work, we provide the first comprehensive review of the emerging field of AdvML4G. This paper encompasses a taxonomy that highlights the emergence of AdvML4G, a discussion of the differences and similarities between AdvML4G and AdvML, a taxonomy covering social good-related concepts and aspects, an exploration of the motivations behind the emergence of AdvML4G at the intersection of ML4G and AdvML, and an extensive summary of the works that utilize AdvML4G as an auxiliary tool for innovating prosocial applications. Finally, we elaborate upon various challenges and open research issues that require significant attention from the research community. © 2020 IEEE.

As the most widely distributed vegetation type on Earth, grasslands are the second largest ecosystem after forests, and are known as the 'skin of the earth'. However, the frequency of rodent infestation has been increasing year by year in recent years due to climate change, loose soil and other factors. As the current traditional monitoring methods are time-consuming and laborious, while the deep learning method has the advantages of low cost, high efficiency and high accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes a combination of UAV remote sensing and deep learning methods to monitor grassland mouse hole. First, because there is no publicly available grassland mouse hole dataset, this study used a UAV to capture images to create a grassland mouse hole dataset. Second, an improved YOLOv7 model, YOLOAPM, is proposed with the goal of improving the accuracy of small target recognition. Through ablation and comparison experiments, the validity of the improved model as well as the method of this paper are verified to be improved compared to other models. Finally, in order to facilitate the monitoring task of the researchers, a monitoring system is established and the mouse hole identification of this paper is embedded into the system. © 2024 IEEE.

Smart grids (SGs) rely on home area networks (HANs) and neighborhood area networks (NANs) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the physical unclonable function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol’s resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol’s effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol’s enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

Knowledge graph (KG) demonstrates substantial potential for enhancing the performance of recommender systems. Due to its rich semantic content and associations among interactive entities, it can effectively alleviate inherent limitations in collaborative filtering (CF), such as data sparsity or cold-start issues. However, most existing knowledge-aware recommendation models indiscriminately aggregate all information in KG, without considering information specifically relevant to the recommendation task. Such indiscriminate aggregation could introduce additional noisy knowledge into representation learning, which can distort the understanding of users' genuine preferences, thereby sacrificing the recommendation quality. In this paper, we introduce the principle of invariance to the knowledge-aware recommendation, culminating in our Knowledge Graph Invariant Learning (KGIL) framework. It aims to discern and harness the task-relevant knowledge connections within KG to enhance the recommendation models. Specifically, we employ multiple environment generators to simulate diverse noisy KG-environments. Then we devise a novel attention learning mechanism for KG and user-item interaction graph, aiming to learn environment-invariant subgraphs. Leveraging an adversarial optimization strategy, we enhance the diversity of the environments, meanwhile, promote invariant representation learning across environments. We conduct extensive experiments on three datasets and compare KGIL with state-of-the-art methods. The experimental results further demonstrate the superiority of our approach. © 2024 ACM.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are mental disorders that reduce quality of life. As they are challenging to detect in a timely manner, recent studies explore the mental illness screening potential of language models on modalities such as transcripts. Such datasets suffer from a limited number of participants. To overcome these challenges, we take a two-pronged approach: (1) we leverage multi-task learning to model multiple illnesses concurrently namely MDD and PTSD screening, and (2) we plug in pre-trained language models as a backbone, namely, Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) variants - which are capable of learning the linguistic content of clinical interview transcripts. In particular, we experiment with three multi-task weighting strategies and five BERT variants, applying them to 15 transcript sets extracted from the Distress Analysis Interview Corpus. Our results indicate that leveraging multi-task learning, especially with meta-weighting, increases the screening performance compared to single-task learning. Our multi-task learning model strategies improved the F1 scores for all 15 datasets for both MDD and PTSD screening. Notably, multitask learning improved MDD screening ability by 20 percent with transcripts regarding 'regret' and achieved F1 of 0.89 and 0.82 respectively for MDD and PTSD screening with transcripts regarding 'medical history'. Our findings may help researchers develop more effective mental illness screening models. © 2024 IEEE.
