In today's rapidly growing digital era, cloud computing has emerged as an important technology, providing the ability to scale resources efficiently, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness for storing and processing huge amounts of data. However, alongside its numerous benefits, the adoption of cloud computing has also introduced deep concerns regarding data protection and privacy. The current scenario of cloud computing is characterized by increase in usage of cloud services and an exponential growth of data. While organizations leverage the cloud to enhance agility and innovation, the data sharing ability of cloud and the outsourcing of data management raise significant challenges for ensuring the privacy, integrity, and availability of sensitive data. Moreover, the rising cyber threats, regulatory compliance requirements, and the possibility for unauthorized access bring out the critical importance of robust data protection mechanisms in the cloud *** paper presents a comprehensive survey of strategies for data protection and identity protection in the context of cloud based systems. It examines encryption techniques, access control mechanisms, identity management solutions, among other approaches, highlighting their strengths, limitations, and applicability in different cloud deployment models and use cases. Furthermore, the paper discusses emerging trends such as homomorphic encryption, Attributes Based Encryption (ABE) Schemes and Identity Based Encryption (IBE), which hold promise for enhancing data protection in the developing landscape of cloud technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, health issues play a tremendous role in day-to-day life and the medical expenditure to get treatment becomes more difficult for the ordinary people. Health insurance has become a vital aspect of people's lives. In this massive community, to access healthcare services such as insurance policies, LIC, ICICI, HDFC ERGO, Star Healthcare are benefits for claiming an amount for their medical expenses. The dataset encompasses three categories, such as generalized data, hospitalized data and claim data. Each record in the dataset represents an individual’s health insurance charges along with corresponding demographic and health-related characteristics. In this paper, Machine Learning techniques are used to group the claim amount that has been adopted by the individuals based on the hospitalized expenditure and insurance charges paid by the individuals. In the health sector, machine learning techniques are used to forecast insurance claims by building predictive models from historical data on claims, patient demographics, treatment types, and results. By predicting future claims based on trends seen in the data, these models help insurance firms better manage risk and allocate resources. In case of a fresher to this concept, it feels challenging to understand whereas generating as a pattern can be more flexible to acquire knowledge about how much amount has been claimed. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent times, blockchain has evolved the security of traditional supply chain systems. Different issues of supply chain management like flexibility and reliability can be easily addressed using blockchain. Meat Packing Industry involves the complete process of processing, packaging and supplying the meat and its products throughout the world for human consumption. The animals used for the meat supply chain include pigs, sheep, cattle etc. Due to the enormous increase in the number of meat-eaters worldwide, its packing and timely supply are of utmost importance. The meat packing industry has revolutionized a lot by using the latest supply chain methods based on new technologies like blockchain. These include adulteration, long-term delays leading to spoilage of the product, mixing of other similar products which are lower in price etc. All these issues can be easily handled by using blockchain and IoT for meat supply chain management. Using these technologies, the challenges ranging from timely transportation of good quality meat to the best quality meat delivered to the customer can be easily addressed. In this paper, an effective blockchain and IoT-based model has been proposed which will counter the above challenges and improve the reliability and security factor. © 2024 IEEE.

Fundamental Limits of Two-Hop MIMO Channels: An Asymptotic Approach

Multi-antenna relays and intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) have been utilized to construct favorable channels to improve the performance of wireless systems. A common feature between relay systems and IRS-aided systems is the two-hop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. As a result, the mutual information (MI) of two-hop MIMO channels has been widely investigated with very engaging results. However, a rigorous investigation on the fundamental limits of two-hop MIMO channels, i.e., the first and second-order analysis, is not yet available in the literature, due to the difficulties caused by the two-hop (product) channel and the noise introduced by the relay (active IRS). In this paper, we employ large random matrix theory, specifically Gaussian tools, to derive the closed form deterministic approximation for the mean and variance of the MI. Additionally, we determine the convergence rate for the mean, variance and the characteristic function of the MI, and prove the asymptotic Gaussianity. Furthermore, we also investigate the analytical properties of the fundamental equations that describe the closed-form approximation and prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution. An iterative algorithm is then proposed to obtain the solutions for the fundamental equations. Numerical results validate the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Global trade and transportation have been impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic, which has quickly affected our everyday activities. One of the best ways to stop the Covid-19 virus from transmitting is to wear a face mask. As a result, the World Health Organization (WHO) advised wearing masks as a precaution in crowded areas. Not only COVID-19, wearing mask can reduce the risk of many infectious diseases. In certain places, diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites spread quickly due to the inappropriate usage of face masks. Many public services providers demand that their clientele participate in their services while suitably dressed in masks. Therefore, identifying face masks has become a crucial duty in supporting global civilization. This paper develops face mask detection system with an alert that detects the presence of a mask in real-time. The proposed system accurately examines the face from the picture and then determines whether it is covered by a mask or not. A notification can be issued to the administrator if the camera records an unrecognizable face. After that, the administrator will be able to track down the infringer. © 2023 IEEE.

A Robust Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system is proposed through a hybrid combination of Perceptual Wavelet Packet features, Deep Neural Network-Hidden Markov Model (DNN-HMM) acoustic models, and n-gram language models for recognizing Spontaneously spoken Kannada sentences. Two Experiments are performed on own Kannada speech corpus and the widely recognized TIMIT corpus. First one is the experiment on the clean speech datasets and the second one is on the speech degraded by noise data chosen from Noise-US dataset. The proposed system performance is evaluated through the metric Word Error Rate (WER). A comparative study on the performance analysis is presented. The results of the experimental investigations achieved an average reduction in Word Error Rate (WER) of 1.8% over Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and 2.1% over Perceptual Linear Prediction (PLP) features. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Weighted Ensemble Learning for Accident Severity Classification Using Social Media Data

Due to the heavy increase in social media usage, like Twitter, there is a growing interest in the research community in developing automation tools like accident severity-based tweet classification models. These tools aid in automatically extracting severity information from the accident tweet content. Moreover, prediction models are essential for predicting the severity of an accident to increase the safety efficacy of the road traffic system. However, the difficulty lies in the collection of sufficient labeled data. We propose a model called weighted ensemble-based self-training with decision tree (WESTDT), a semi-supervised methodology with a dynamic data labeling strategy. The base classifier in this model is a homogeneous weighted ensemble of decision tree classifiers for better prediction of pseudo labels. We also propose a novel performance measure called risk factor to estimate the amount of risk present in the application using the prediction model. The proposed model outperformed the state-of-the-art model, namely reliable semi-supervised ensemble learning (RESSEL), and the baseline models, namely decision tree (DT) and self-training with decision tree (STDT), in terms of both the traditional and the proposed measures. The results indicate that the proposed framework outperforms all other models on all datasets in terms of precision, recall, and accuracy by a range of 5–18.3%, 3.9–9.3%, and 6.6%, respectively. These findings can be helpful for the development of efficient and sustainable systems for traffic management and safety. It is also crucial for assisting government authorities in devising prompt, proactive strategies to prevent traffic accidents and enhance road safety. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

A developing technology that can be highly helpful for both intelligent transportation services and safety and security is the Automobile ad hoc network, or VANET. Nevertheless because of the great mobility and wireless connection of cars, there are numerous security risks that jeopardize people's safety and security when driving. The Sybil assault, in which the perpetrator makes up a false identity to obtain significant influence within the network and delay certain services and manipulate others by fictitious voting, is one of the main security issues. People can avoid being duped by an attacker or falling into traps when attacks are detected early. This study describes two methods for detecting Sybil attacks: the first uses the Poisson Distribution Method in order to forecast traffic on the street, whereas the latter examines network efficiency for packet delivery ratio (PDR) in both benign additionally malicious environments. According to the simulation's findings, PDR lowers the number of fictitious cars in the network. Our method is straightforward and efficient because it doesn't involve a lot of computational overhead and doesn't breach users' privacy concerns. © 2024 IEEE.

Company Investors and financial professionals mostly rely on quarterly reports to help them decide the ways to invest in stocks and assess the company's current performance. Quarterly company reports offer an abstracted perspective of the company's overall past performance, as well as its present situation and the market value of its market share. Financial text streams in quarterly report are unstructured naturally, but they represent cooperative expressions that are of important in any financial decision for stake holder. It will be both daunting and necessary to procedure intelligence of unstructured textual data. In this study, we address important queries related with the explosion of interest in a method to extract useful information from unstructured data and the way to work out if such insight provides any hints regarding the trends of financial markets. There is a lack of availability in the labeled dataset for financial sentiment analysis applications. The pre-trained language model employs very little labeled parameters that is used for a variety of domain specific corpora including financial sentiment analysis. In this paper, FinBERT, a model built on the BERT framework, to address linguistics challenges in the financial domain. The proposed work uses twelve transformer layers and twelve attention layers with several million parameters. The design of encoder and decoder comprises of several attention layers along with RNN. This arrangement aids to recognize instances processing the strongest relation between the words within a particular sentence. The experimentation results shows that the presented method surpass the state-of-the-art methods for financial datasets. The results are also compared with other existing models using the same financial dataset. It is observed that the FinBERT attains an accuracy of 84.77% on quarterly reports despite using a lesser training set. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Thalassemia is a Disease that passes from parents to children through genes. It is a red blood cell disorder caused when the body doesn’t make enough of a protein in the blood called hemoglobin. Three classifications of Thalassemia are Alpha(a), Beta(b), DeltaBeta(db) And Beta thalassemia is the most effective disease compared to other types. Out of 5% of patients 3% comes in Beta Thalassemia. It is first identified in the early 19’s with the symptoms like poor growth, severe anemia, and huge abdominal organs. It is a disease of which most people are deceased due to unawareness, and not getting proper Medication, especially in rural areas as they cannot find symptoms because other disease symptoms differ from thalassemia. Out of 10000 newborns, approximately an average of 4.4 will be affected by thalassemia. Out of 32 districts In India, 10 to 12 thousand children were born with this disease. To date, no research work has shown the exact death rates of thalassemia worldwide. Blood transfusion is the major method used for the prevention of thalassemia-affected patients. Apart from that Bone marrow is another prevention method used for Beta Carriers. In this work, we gathered detailed Information about thalassemia and its types so that people will get aware of this disease. This work provides details of how this disease is getting inherited from parents to children, the depth of the characteristics of every subtype, and the statistics about causes and death rates from this disease. © 2024 The Author(s).
