Optimizing land mine detection across diverse mining environments: A hyperspectral data approach with regression models

The detection of landmines, namely anti-tank mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance, is a formidable obstacle for the global community. The visible consequences of unobserved explosives in communities affected by war are characterized by significant devastation and human suffering. In order to effectively tackle this matter, it is imperative to use proactive strategies that focus on the identification and mitigation of these perilous substances prior to their potential infliction of harm. Nevertheless, the majority of current solutions exhibit significant deficiencies, such as exorbitant expenses, inefficiencies, and apprehensions over accuracy. These drawbacks are further compounded by the inherent trade-offs that exist between these elements, where improvements in one area often come at the expense of another. Contrarily, recent breakthroughs in the areas of deep learning, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sensor technologies are being recognized as potentially transformative elements in the domain of landmine identification and removal. This paper presents a thorough examination of recent scholarly investigations that integrate computerized technology in the field of landmine detection. To the extent of our current understanding, there has been no prior investigation that has thoroughly examined this particular domain. The main aim of this study is to investigate the incorporation of machine learning based regression methods in the field of landmine detection. The study specifically emphasizes the identification and resolution of existing issues that hinder the development of efficient automated solutions, hence enhancing performance optimization. The Sum of Sine Curve Fit Regression Model is proposed and proved a powerful and adaptable tool for extracting relevant information from this hyperspectral images. © 2024 The Authors

Lay summarization aims to generate summaries of technical articles for non-experts, enabling easy comprehension for a general audience. The technical language used in research often hinders effective communication of scientific knowledge, making it difficult for non-experts to understand. Automatic lay summarization can enhance access to scientific literature, promoting interdisciplinary knowledge sharing and public understanding. This has become especially important for biomedical articles, given the current global need for clear medical information. Large Language Models (LLMs) (Yao et al., 2024), with their remarkable language understanding capabilities, are ideal for abstractive summarization, helping to make complex information accessible to the public. This paper details our submissions to the BioLaySumm 2024 Shared Task: Lay Summarization of Biomedical Research Articles (Goldsack et al., 2024). We fine-tune and evaluate sequence-to-sequence models like T5 across various training dataset settings and optimization methods such as LoRA (Hu et al., 2021b) for lay summarization. With the development of hardware devices and the upgrading of smartphones,a large number of users save privacy-related information in mobile devices,mainly smartphones,which puts forward higher demands on the protection of mobile users’privacy *** present,mobile user authenticationmethods based on humancomputer interaction have been extensively studied due to their advantages of high precision and non-perception,but there are still shortcomings such as low data collection efficiency,untrustworthy participating nodes,and lack of *** this end,this paper proposes a privacy-enhanced mobile user authentication method with motion sensors,which mainly includes:(1)Construct a smart contract-based private chain and federated learning to improve the data collection efficiency of mobile user authentication,reduce the probability of the model being bypassed by attackers,and reduce the overhead of data centralized processing and the risk of privacy leakage;(2)Use certificateless encryption to realize the authentication of the device to ensure the credibility of the client nodes participating in the calculation;(3)Combine Variational Mode Decomposition(VMD)and Long Short-TermMemory(LSTM)to analyze and model the motion sensor data of mobile devices to improve the accuracy of model *** experimental results on the real environment dataset of 1513 people show that themethod proposed in this paper can effectively resist poisoning attacks while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of mobile user authentication.

This work examines the performance of various LSTM (long short-term memory) variants on social media text data. This study evaluates the performance of LSTM models with different architectures, namely, classic LSTM, Bidirectional LSTM, Stacked LSTM, gated recurrent unit (GRU), and bidirectional GRU, on a social network dataset comprising texts extracted from multiple social media platforms. We aim to identify the most effective LSTM variant of the five considered LSTM models for text analysis through a comparative study of the models' precision, recall, F1-score, and accuracy. The research findings show that the Classic LSTM and the GRU model perform better than the other models in accuracy. In contrast, the bidirectional models (Bidirectional LSTM and Bidirectional GRU) provide better precision scores than their respective primitive models. This research has significant implications for developing more efficient models for natural language processing applications. It offers beneficial insights into the implications involving the scrutiny of depression on social media platforms through text data analysis. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Semantic segmentation of brain tumours is a fundamental task in medical image analysis that can help clinicians in diagnosing the patient and tracking the progression of any malignant entities. Accurate segmentation of brain lesions is essential for medical diagnosis and treatment planning. However, failure to acquire specific MRI imaging modalities can prevent applications from operating in critical situations, raising concerns about their reliability and overall trustworthiness. This paper presents a novel multi-modal approach for brain lesion segmentation that leverages information from four distinct imaging modalities while being robust to real-world scenarios of missing modalities, such as T1, T1c, T2, and FLAIR MRI of brains. Our proposed method can help address the challenges posed by artifacts in medical imagery due to data acquisition errors (such as patient motion) or a reconstruction algorithm’s inability to represent the anatomy while ensuring a trade-off in accuracy. Our proposed regularization module makes it robust to these scenarios and ensures the reliability of lesion segmentation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This paper investigates the application of Vision Transformers (ViTs), specifically DETR (DEtection TRans-former), for the detection and classification of digital logic gates in hand-sketched digital logic circuits (DLC). A novel dataset of 295 hand-sketched DLC images was developed, capturing all seven fundamental gate types: AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR. The dataset introduces real-world complexities, such as variations in sketching styles, pen types, and paper textures, therefore addressing gaps in existing datasets. The performance of DETR is compared with the state-of-the-art YOLOv8 model under various preprocessing configurations, including grayscale conversion and image resizing. The results show that YOLO achieves higher overall detection accuracy, while DETR demon-strates strengths in capturing spatial relationships and complex patterns in abstract sketches. Additionally, the study analyses the effects of training duration and dataset structure on performance, highlighting the sensitivity of ViTs to preprocessing and spatial feature preservation. This work advances the understanding of transformer-based models for DLC recognition, advancing the way for more effective automated tools in engineering and education. © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a framework for socially responsible and semantically guided Web 3.0 compatible news recommendation that combines deep learning with strategic knowledge derivation. For this reason, RWNR model has been proposed. The RWNR model encompasses the radial basis feed forward neural network which is transformed into a feature controlled model by encompassing entities from the news API stack as features to classify the dataset and the classified dataset is subjected to the computation of strategic semantic similarity as well as step deviance at several phases with the reference tag pool which is generated from the user’s topic of interest which is subjected to topic modelling utilizing Latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) harvesting entities from wikidata as well as making it socially aware by encompassing the twitter API. Hybridization of entities from the news API stack is done from several knowledge derivation schemes into the model. The normalized information distance (NID) and tag index with the harmony search optimization algorithm is metaheuristic in nature which optimizes the solution that makes the proposed model not only rich in knowledge but also rich in semantics and optimization. This has resulted in best-in-class model with average recall, F-measure, False discovery rate (FDR), accuracy percentages of 96.09%, 91.19%, 96.64% and 96.63% respectively with the lowest FDR of 0.04. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The secure authentication of user data is crucial in various sectors, including digital banking, medical applications and e-governance, especially for images. Secure communication protects against data tampering and forgery, thereby bolstering the foundation for informed decision-making, whether managing traffic, enhancing public safety, or monitoring environmental conditions. Conventional visual cryptographic protocols offer solutions, particularly for color images, though they grapple with challenges such as high computational demands and reliance on multiple cover images. Additionally, they often require third-party authorization to verify the image integrity. On the other hand, visual cryptography offers a streamlined approach. It divides images into shares, where each pixel represented uniquely, thus allowing visual decryption without complex computations. The optimized multi-tiered authentication protocol (OMTAP), which is integrated with the visual sharing scheme (VSS), takes secure image sharing to the next level. It reduces share count, prioritizes image fidelity and transmission security, and introduces the self-verification of decrypted image integrity through asymmetric key matrix generators, thus eliminating external validation. Rigorous testing has confirmed OMTAP's robustness and broad applicability, thereby ensuring that decrypted images maintain their quality with a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 40 dB and full integrity at the receiver's end. © 2024 American Institute of Mathematical sciences.
