The mixed rare-earth orthochromite Nd0.5Dy0.5CrO3has a Néel temperature (TN) of ∼ 175K, resulting in the G-type antiferromagnetic ordering of Cr3+spins. The inverse susceptibility shows a deviation from Curie-Weiss law at 230K, with a large effective paramagnetic moment of 8.8 μB. The ZFC-FC magnetization bifurcate just above TNand show a distinct signature of spin reorientation near 60K. Neutron diffraction show that below TN, the Cr3+spins align in Γ2representation as (Fx, Gz). Below 60K, due to spin reorientation, the magnetic structure is in Γ1(Gy) configuration. The neutron diffraction does not show any signature of rare-earth ordering even at 1.5K. First principles density functional theory calculations within GGA+U and GGA+U+SO approximations reveal that the G-type antiferromagnetic order is the ground state magnetic structure of Cr sublattice and the spin-reorientation of Cr3+spins can happen in the absence of 3d-4f interactions unlike in the case of orthoferrites. The specific heat shows a 'λ' anomaly at TN, while at low temperature two distinct Schottky anomalies are observed;a Schottky peak at 2K and an additional step-like feature above 10K. Above TN, the magnetic transition is preceded by structural anomalies as seen in our x-ray diffraction and Raman measurements. The deviation of structural parameters near Néel temperature is smaller. The phonon frequencies show deviation from the standard anharmonic behaviour: first near 250K, due to magneto-volume effects while the second deviation occurs near 200K due to spin-phonon coupling. Background Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age-sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1.17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0.793-1.62) deaths globally, representing a 60.3% (50.6-69.0) decrease since 1990 (2.93 million [2.31-3.73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79.2% (72.4-84.6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. Many complex business-applications require the composition of tasks invoking multiple web services. The complexity of a composition process increases when a composition needs dynamic functionalities. Web services (WSs) of different service providers can be functionally identical, but have varying Quality of Service (QoS) attributes. A QoS optimisation is thus required at every stage in a composite web service (CWS). Maximising the overall utility functions are the need at both, component and composition levels. Local (task level) or global (composition using tasks in CWS) optimisation is currently used approach during the composition from the tasks. The present paper proposes a hybrid approach using the local as well as global optimisations. While local optimisation ensures the composition from the WSs in the trustworthy environment, the global optimisation satisfies the QoS constraints at the global level. The approach uses a hybrid orchestration structure. It maximises overall utility functions and reduces computational time related complexity. Copyright © 2018 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The focus of this white paper is on machine learning (ML) in wireless communications. 6G wireless communication networks will be the backbone of the digital transformation of societies by providing ubiquitous, reliable, and near-instant wireless connectivity for humans and machines. Recent advances in ML research has led enable a wide range of novel technologies such as self-driving vehicles and voice assistants. Such innovation is possible as a result of the availability of advanced ML models, large datasets, and high computational power. On the other hand, the ever-increasing demand for connectivity will require a lot of innovation in 6G wireless networks, and ML tools will play a major role in solving problems in the wireless domain. In this paper, we provide an overview of the vision of how ML will impact the wireless communication systems. We first give an overview of the ML methods that have the highest potential to be used in wireless networks. Then, we discuss the problems that can be solved by using ML in various layers of the network such as the physical layer, medium access layer, and application layer. Zero-touch optimization of wireless networks using ML is another interesting aspect that is discussed in this paper. We develop a Vector Quantized Spectral Clustering (VQSC) algorithm that is a combination of Spectral Clustering (SC) and Vector Quantization (VQ) sampling for grouping Soybean genomes. The inspiration here is to use SC for its accuracy and VQ to make the algorithm computationally cheap (the complexity of SC is cubic interms of the input size). Although the combination of SC and VQ is not new, the novelty of our work is in developing the crucial similarity matrix in SC as well as use of k-medoids in VQ, both adapted for the Soybean genome data. We compare our approach with commonly used techniques like UPGMA (Un-weighted Pair Graph Method with Arithmetic Mean) and NJ (Neighbour Joining). Experimental results show that our approach outperforms both these techniques significantly in terms of cluster quality (up to 25% better cluster quality) and time complexity (order of magnitude faster).MSC Codes 68T01, 68T10, 68W40 Copyright © 2018, The Authors. Changing collective behaviour and supporting non-pharmaceutical interventions is an important component in mitigating virus transmission during a pandemic. In a large international collaboration (Study 1,N= 49,968 across 67 countries), we investigated self-reported factors associated with public health behaviours (e.g., spatial distancing and stricter hygiene) and endorsed public policy interventions (e.g., closing bars and restaurants) during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic (April-May 2020). Respondents who reported identifying more strongly with their nation consistently reported greater engagement in public health behaviours and support for public health policies. Results were similar for representative and non-representative national samples. Study 2 (N= 42 countries) conceptually replicated the central finding using aggregate indices of national identity (obtained using the World Values Survey) and a measure of actual behaviour change during the pandemic (obtained from Google mobility reports). Higher levels of national identification prior to the pandemic predicted lower mobility during the early stage of the pandemic (r= −0.40). We discuss the potential implications of links between national identity, leadership, and public health for managing COVID-19 and future pandemics.
