A user-adaptive privacy-preserving authentication of IoMT using zero knowledge proofs with ECC

The Internet of Things (IoT) has developed into a crucial component for meeting the connection needs of the current smart healthcare systems. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) consists of medical devices that are connected to patients in order to sense their medical parameters and exchange that information with healthcare professionals so they can deliver remote healthcare services. The need to protect the patient’s private information from being misused makes IoMT security an urgent issue that merits further study. Elliptic Curve cryptography (ECC), a popular substitute for traditional public key encryption like RSA, has several advantages. ECC is a prime contender for implementation on constrained devices with confined memory and speed, as well as wireless communication protocols that use low power like IoMT environment. The economic complexity of the current security protocols makes them inappropriate, hence new security protocols must be developed for resource-constrained and diverse IoT networks. This work suggests an authenticated key agreement protocol for the IoMT that is based on elliptic curve encryption based zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) protocols. The proposed mechanism completes in order of milliseconds up to 300 ms for 160 bits. The research will include the comparison between computational delays in traditional protocols and ZKP-ECC protocol. This paper provides a protocol to obtain privacy of data in IoMT environment on the basis of zero knowledge phenomenon and anonymous communication by ZKP-ECC. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Background: Human physical activity recognition is challenging in various research eras, such as healthcare, surveillance, senior monitoring, athletics, and rehabilitation. The use of various sensors has attracted outstanding research attention due to the implementation of machine learning and deep learning approaches. Aim: This paper proposes a unique deep learning framework based on motion signals to recognize human activity to handle these constraints and challenges through deep learning (e.g., enhance CNN, LR, RF, DT, KNN, and SVM) approaches. Method: This research article uses the BML (Biological Motion Library) dataset gathered from thirty volunteers with four various activities to analyze the performance metrics. It compares the evaluated results with existing results, which are found by machine learning and deep learning methods to identify human activity. Result: This framework was successfully investigated with the help of laboratory metrics with convolutional neural networks (CNN) and achieved 89.0% accuracy compared to machine learning methods. Conclusion: The novel work of this research is to increase classification accuracy with a lower error rate and faster execution. Moreover, it introduces a novel approach to human activity recognition in the BML dataset using the CNN with Adam optimizer approach. © 2024 Bentham science Publishers.

Roads are an important part of transporting goods and products from one place to another. In developing countries, the main challenge is to maintain road conditions regularly. Roads can deteriorate from time to time. Monitoring the conditions of the roads, which may degrade with time, is very difficult, resulting in a delay in transportation and damage to the vehicles moving on the roads. Poor road conditions cause road accidents. A model is being proposed to monitor the conditions of the road surface by smartphone sensors. Accelerometer, gyroscope, and GPS sensors are deployed in the mobile phones, which will help to collect data on the road conditions. After collecting the data about the road conditions, various machine learning approaches, such as supervised, multi-layered, and multiclass, are applied to data filtration. Road conditions are divided into three categories to achieve this methodology: potholes, deep traverse cracks, and smooth roads. This categorization helped in analyzing the road surface condition through smartphone sensors over all three axes instead of taking it over a single axis. Centralized file storage systems are widely used for sharing data and services, offering oversight capabilities to governing bodies. Despite their prevalence, these systems raise significant concerns about potential data misuse by authorities and control over internet information dissemination. The vulnerability of centralized systems has been highlighted by security breaches that exposed user data. To counteract these issues, researchers have proposed blockchain-based solutions for enhanced data protection. This research work highlights an innovative approach utilizing the services of Interplanetary File System (IPFS), a secure and encrypted connection framework accessible via web browsers that supports global data storage and distribution on a decentralized peer-to-peer network. This model ensures privacy, accuracy of information, and eliminates additional service fees or software requirements. However, even decentralized networks like IPFS have faced cyber threats compromising user data. In response to this challenge, the presented research outlines a model incorporating AES-256 encryption to protect files before uploading them onto IPFS nodes. Secure transmission is achieved through WebRTC technology which facilitates the exchange of encrypted file hashes and keys with recipients. The key takeaways from this study include an optimized method for file storage and distribution designed to thwart cyber-attacks targeting stored or shared files while also providing economic benefits by removing extra storage costs associated with large files in centralized systems. Overall, the research offers a robust solution aimed at safeguarding user privacy without sacrificing functionality or incurring high costs. © (2025), (West University of Timisoara). Yoga pose classification: a CNN and MediaPipe inspired deep learning approach for real-world application

Yoga is a centuries-old style of exercise followed by sports personnel, patients, and physiotherapist as their regime. A correct posture and technique are the key points in yoga to reap the maximum benefits. Hence, developing a model to classify yoga postures correctly is a recently emerging research topic. The paper presents a novel architecture that aims to classify various yoga poses. The proposed model estimates and classifies yoga poses into five broad categories with low latency. In the proposed architecture, the images are skeletonized before inputting into the model. The skeletonization process is done using the MediaPipe library for body keypoint detection. The paper compares the performance of various deep learning models with and without skeletonization. Different learning models showed the optimum result with the training of skeletonized images to the network. The comparison is drawn to establish the positive impact of skeletonization on the results obtained by various models. VGG16 achieves the highest validation accuracy on non-skeletonized images (95.6%), followed by InceptionV3, NASNetMobile, YogaConvo2d (proposed model) (89.9%), and lastly, InceptionResNetV2. In contrast, the proposed model YogaConvo2d using skeletonized images reports a validation accuracy of 99.62%, followed by VGG16, InceptionResNetV2, NASNetMobile, and InceptionV3. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Identification of Human Activity from Video Streaming Smartphone Data Using Intensified VGG16

Human activity recognition (HAR) techniques pick out and interpret human behaviors and actions by analyzing data gathered from various sensor devices. HAR aims to recognize and automatically categorize human activities using patterns and attributes taken from sensor data. HAR is complex in implementing the algorithm for a self-recorded dataset, including challenges such as age variation, wearing different clothes, environment and surface, the direction of the smartphone camera, and many more. The paper aims to propose a VGG16 deep learning framework including an activation function and different optimizers for classifying human activity from the real-time captured dataset;further, we compare the evaluated results with existing results. The proposed methods achieved 99.88% accuracy with excellent precision, recall, and F_measure values. Comparing the evaluated result with existing outcomes over the WISDM and UCI-HAR datasets. The new things in the article are a self-captured dataset of various aged male, female, and healthy volunteers to perform seven activities. Furthermore, this research uses Tensor Processing Units (TPU) available on Kaggle to improve classification accuracy while reducing error rates and speeding up execution. ©2025 The author(s).

An improved task scheduling algorithm for conflict resolution in cloud environment

The performance of the cloud-based systems is directly associated with the resource utilization. The maximum resource utilization indicates the high performance of cloud computing. Further, effective task scheduling is the primary factor that significantly impacts resource utilization. Various researchers have proposed multiple algorithms to achieve optimum utilization, but a high rejection rate of tasks occurred due to conflict among similar tasks during backfilling. A hybrid approach is proposed for selecting the backfilled tasks using a multicriteria decision-making approach (MCDM), namely Distance-based approach with a traditional task scheduling algorithm. The parameters considered to find the suitable task for backfilling are arrival time, start time, deadline time, duration, size, and the number of virtual machines. The proposed algorithm is implemented on different datasets and compared with other state-of-the-art algorithms. The result shows a significant improvement in virtual machine utilization and task acceptance/rejection rate. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Object detection, a task, in the field of computer vision faces obstacles when dealing with weather conditions such as fog, rain, snow, and low light situations. This paper provides an overview of advancements in the realm of object detection under challenging weather conditions. It delves into groundbreaking research that utilizes learning techniques adjustments to frameworks and the significance of datasets. This paper proposed the YOLOv5 model to detect the object in bad weather conditions. The paper presents the comparison between the YOLOv5 model presented in literature and the proposed YOLOv5 model in terms of accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score. The evaluation results prove the better performance of our proposed model. © 2024 IEEE.

The thyroid gland, a pivotal regulator of essential physiological functions, orchestrates the production and release of thyroid hormones, playing a vital role in metabolism, growth, development, and overall bodily functions. While thyroid nodules are predominantly benign, certain cases may manifest malignancy, leading to thyroid cancer. Despite the generally favorable prognosis, early detection and intervention remain paramount for optimal outcomes. Given the limitations in clinical data, this paper introduces an innovative approach employing a modified XGBoost model that integrates both clinical and molecular properties into a unified predictive model. Utilizing fine-needle aspiration biopsies and gene expression analysis, our model aims to enhance cancer prediction in thyroid nodules. We explore the influence of incorporating high-quality clinical data on the prioritized gene set, employing a nature-inspired method for hyperparameter optimization. The modified XGBoost model emerges as highly recommended for non-parametric feature selection, extraction, and prediction due to its remarkable accuracy. Our proposed model attains an impressive 94.6% accuracy, surpassing other machine learning models such as C5.0 (92.5%), CART (88.7%), CHAID (83.4%), Quest (81.5%), LSVM (77%), and random tree (24.1%). The real-time efficiency of our model is demonstrated in the results section. Experiments showcase the superior performance of combined molecular and clinical data-based prediction models. Emphasis is placed on the importance of scrutinizing the origins of clinical data and maintaining vigilance over variable quality. This study signifies a substantial advancement in thyroid cancer prediction, offering a robust and accurate model that integrates diverse data sources, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Agriculture is the major source of food and significantly contributes to Indian employment, and the economy is intricately tied to the outcomes of crop management, where the final yield and market prices play crucial roles. The final yield and the market price completely determined the outcome of crop management or agriculture in India. Real-time observation emerges as a critical determinant of overall crop production success. Recognizing the significance of insightful analysis and precise crop yield predictions for effective farming practices, this study proposes an enhanced model to address the imperative of accurate yield forecasting. The pre-processing steps of the proposed model include Min-Max normalization, deletion of irrelevant data, and addition of missing values. The pre-processed data is then subjected to feature extraction using an Improved Shearlet transform (IST). After feature extraction, feature selection is done using an Enhanced multi-objective Grey Wolf optimization (EMGWO) technique. Finally, the prediction is made using an enhanced Gate Recurrent Unit with a Bidirectional LSTM (GRU-BiLSTM) model. This enhanced the accuracy (97%), precision (93%), recall (97.25%) and F-measure (95.14%) of agricultural yield predictions. Various measures related to errors, such as RMSE, MSE, MAE, MedAE, R2 and MSLE, are compared for the proposed model and other existing techniques. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
