His research interests include embedded systems electronic design automation (EDA) computer architecture distributed systems healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) and brain-inspired architectures and computing.""Dr. Dutt is a Fellow of ACM. He was a recipient of the IFIP Silver Core Award. He has received numerous best paper awards. He serves as the Steering Committee Chair of the IEEE/ACM Embedded Systems Week (ESWEEK). He is also on the steering organizing and program committees of several premier EDA and embedded system design conferences and workshops. He has served on the Editorial Boards for the IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems and the ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems and also previously served as the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for the ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems. He served on the Advisory Boards of the IEEE Embedded Systems Letters the ACM Special Interest Group on Embedded Systems the ACM Special Interest Group on Design Automationt and the ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems. Autonomous systems are able to make decisions and potentially take actions without direct human intervention, which requires some knowledge about the system and its environment as well as goal-oriented reasoning. In computer systems, one can derive such behavior from the concept of a rational agent with autonomy (“control over its own actions”), reactivity (“react to events from the environment”), proactivity (“act on its own initiative”), and sociality (“interact with other agents”) as fundamental properties \n[1]\n. Autonomous systems will undoubtedly pervade into our everyday lives, and we will find them in a variety of domains and applications including robotics, transportation, health care, communications, and entertainment to name a few. \nThe articles in this month’s special issue cover concepts and fundamentals, architectures and techniques, and applications and case studies in the exciting area of self-awareness in autonomous systems.

Delivery of reliable services in cloud environment is a major issue. Reliability may be achieved by implementing the fault tolerance. Due to the abundant growth of traffic and service request on cloud datacenters, balancing the load in cloud environment is one of the serious challenges as failure may occur due to increase in power consumption, node failure, machine failure etc. Therefore there is a need of a policy for balancing the load among the datacenters and various solutions to balance the load have been proposed by researchers. Load distribution is the mechanism of dispersal the load between different nodes based on certain parameters such as underloaded(node) and overloaded (node). In this research article we have discussed the concept of dispersal of load and then perform a comparative analysis of various task-scheduling policies such as First Come First Serve, Shortest Job First and Round Robin on *** simulation results on Cloudsim depicted that RR task-scheduling is much better than the FCFS and SJF whether we are using the Time shared policy or Space shared policy for execution of cloudlet.

Cardiovascular Disease is the silent killer and it is one of the leading cause for global death annually. The percentage of premature death varies from 7% in high-income countries and 43% in low-income countries. It is mainly due to lifestyle changing factors such as obesity, diabetes, etc. While working to reduce earlier deaths, it is revealed, how important the earlier prediction of heart disease is. In the medical field, diagnosing heart disease earlier is a difficult task for medical practitioner since it depends on combining clinical and pathological data. The purpose of this paper is to implement a medical prediction support system for predicting cardiac disease. Deep learning approach based computational model is designed for diagnosis. This proposed system has three main steps. First, a dataset with 13 attributes (13 clinical features) from the website is collected. Second, the datasets are trained using an algorithm called artificial neural network with backpropagation technique. It can have one or more hidden layers in order to get higher accuracy. Finally, Cardiac Function Prediction System (CFPS) which is an interactive GUI is developed, where the user can enter the clinical features and get to know the current status of a patient’s health. This system enhances medical care and reduces the treatment cost. This system will act as a promising tool for the medical practitioner for proper diagnosis.

Agriculture plays a prime role in providing food to a massive population. It has a predominant role in improving the economic development of our nation. In recent days due to the changes in weather pattern, the crop cultivation has become the greatest challenge. This directly or indirectly affects the productivity of the crops. Hence to overcome from this and to the improve productivity of the crops new technologies can be brought up for usage. The usage of these new technologies will convert traditional farming practices into precision farming. The new technology specified here includes the data analysis and Internet of Things (IoT). As it is revealed that it improves the productivity of the crops by maintaining the finest crop health. Although changes had been adopted in the recent agricultural practices the major issue yet not gets resolved. One such main issue yet to be resolved is cultivating precise crop at the precise time. This can be done with the help of deep learning algorithm such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN), which is found to be an effective one for predicting the precise crop. Hence the proposed system aims at helping the farmers by providing valuable insights to them. These insights can be driven with the help of parameters such as soil moisture level, humidity, temperature and pH collected from the sensors using IoT. In addition to these other parameters include soil type, land type, and the area sown. The crop prediction Graphical User Interface (GUI) system will take these valuable inputs and give suggestions using the crop suggestion user interface. The prediction is made using the Deep Neural Network (DNN) which predicts about the crop to be get cultivated, fertilizer to be used, production range etc. The crop suggestion system greatly helps the farmers to take a valuable decision.

Intelligent transportation cyber physical system (ITCPS) is used to enhance the safety and performance of the road transportation of a country. A crucial element that affects road safety is passengers comfort factor since a large crowd always invites accidents. An Intelligent Transportation Cyber Physical System is proposed using fuzzy logic for automatic crowd monitoring in buses. Sub-sentential research has been undertaken in ITCPS to manage traffic, safety, and security among which safety measures in the public transportation system is crucial. The main focuses of this paper are on passengers comfort factor and safety. The proposed framework gathers a large set of input parameters using an onboard sensor. Fuzzy logic is applied to identify whether the passenger bus is crossing the safety limit, the data are stored in cloud storage. The Intelligent Transportation Cyber Physical System then monitors the crowded area and allocates another bus by providing proper intimation to the users, the process avoids bus bunching. The test bed is created to simulate the Intelligent Transportation Cyber Physical System framework, with the different scenario the performance is measured.

A Chatbot is like a digital assistant, can be pretrained or have self learning capability. It can be trained to understand the user queries and respond in natural language of the user during a conversation. Chatbot can actively help human to involve in a digital conversation since it can make use of the natural language processing. The existing Chatbot enhances the communication but it does not improvise the information when it is needed. And sometimes they go beyond the topic during conversation which is a major drawback. The proposed bot could identify the emotional status of the users and can provide suggestions using Bi-directional Recurrent Neural Network and tensor flow library functions. The popularity of the chat bots lets our system to be used for much variety of applications. These chat bots be used to automate the various fields like e-learning, e-government and web based models.

This article discusses goal programming model for optimizing working capital management (WCM) of a tire manufacturing company. The mathematical model is run for the years 2008–2009 to 2012–2013 and values of the respective goals are taken from it. The validation for the model values with the actual values from the financial data are carried out to check the significance of the model values. The significance test is carried out in one sample t-test. It is observed that all the values got from the model are significant. The sales of the company for the year 2013–2014 is forecasted from the past data by linear regression using Microsoft Excel as a trend line. The model is used to 2analyze the values of variables of WCM for the year 2013–2014 to achieve a 30 percent return on assets (ROA) for the forecasted sales.

In this paper we explain the delineation and enactment of an E-Conceptual Automation based Academic System christened Medha. E-concept is a slight deviation from E-learning. While E-learning emphasizes on the provision of a complete learning management system in the usually fixed standards, E-concept chooses to do the same in a non-standardized manner. This property of building its structure on the fly makes it more flexible and at the same time gives the arena of user-friendly environment an absolute next level experience. Medha is an insightful combination of both E-concept and semantic web. The ability to access the web in a semantic analysis approach ensures more accurate and relevant search results as compared to the usually opted syntactic approach. This system avails almost everything a student would require to excel in academics. Not only does this system provide encouragement through the motivational blog section but also enables the users to share their viewpoint at the Users-corner. So the aim is to provide everything on a single platform which would save both - time and energy of the students while they are on the quest to acquire supreme quality knowledge.

Statics is a backbone course for several engineering disciplines and also a pre-requisite for dynamics and mechanics of materials. Researchers have identified a lack of understanding of statics as a significant source of difficulties in terms of both conceptual understanding, representation of free body diagrams (FBD) and problem-solving ability. Our approach to improve the learning of the concept of friction focuses on students' understanding of acting forces and specific components of such forces of a system. The presented quasi-experimental study investigates how the use of visuo-haptic simulations can improve students understanding and use of FBD. Specifically, we compared two visuo-haptic simulations; one that explicitly visually depicts FBD of multiple objects interacting with different surfaces, while the other only provides haptic feedback while students engage in the same forms of interaction. Our results suggest that using the visuo-haptic simulator with FBD leads to better learning results. These findings support the hypothesis that appropriately sequenced visuo-haptic simulators with well-designed visual cues can help students to better understand and use FBD.
