A new model equation is proposed for simulating unidirectional wave propagation in nonlinear media with dispersion. this model equation is a one-dimensional evolutionary partial differential equation that is obtained by coupling the generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation, which includes a nonlinear term of any order and cubic dispersion, with the quintic regularized long wave (qRLW) equation, which includes fifth-order dispersion. Exact solitary wave solutions are derived for this model equation. these analytical solutions are obtained for any order of the nonlinear term and for any given values of the coefficients of the cubic and quintic dispersive terms. Analytical expressions for three conservation laws and for three invariants of motion for solitary wave solutions of this new equation are also derived. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

this paper presents a collaborative filtering recommendation system combined with market value functions. in the approach, by building market value function model for each item, we can produce a user rating information table. then Collaborative Filtering algorithm can produce a list of recommended items. Experiment in real world examples shows that the method is effective.

Fuzzy systems have demonstrated their ability to solve different kinds of problems in various application domains. Currently, there is an increasing interest to augment fuzzy systems with learning and adaptation capabilities. two of the most successful approaches to hybridise fuzzy systems with learning and adaptation methods have been made in the realm of soft computing. Neural fuzzy systems and genetic fuzzy systems hybridise the approximate reasoning method of fuzzy systems with the learning capabilities of neural networks and evolutionary algorithms. the objective of this paper is to provide an account of genetic fuzzy systems, with special attention to genetic fuzzy rule-based systems. After a brief introduction to models and applications of genetic fuzzy systems, the field is overviewed, new trends are identified, a critical evaluation of genetic fuzzy systems for fuzzy knowledge extraction is elaborated, and open questions that remain to be addressed in the future are raised. the paper also includes some of the key references required to quickly access implementation details of genetic fuzzy systems. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. iP routing lookup schemes using single-step tCAM used in core routers demand entries being sorted according to prefix lengths in descending order relative to tCAM addresses. the sorting operations related to addresses have disadvantageous affections to the entry updating speed and lookup continuity. this paper provides a novel iPv4/iPv6 dual-stack routing lookup method based on BsPL (Bi-search on Prefix Length), which using multi-step tCAM pipelining based on bi-search on prefix length. its outstanding advantages include that no entry sorting is needed, lookup speed is high, entry updating is completed fast with pipelining, and lookup continuity is enhanced. it satisfies wire-speed (48B-packet) forwarding of OC-768 (40Gbps) interfaces of iPv4/iPv6 dual-stack core routers.

this work presents an automated, patient-specific method for the detection of epileptic seizure onsets from noninvasive EEG. We adopt a patient-specific approach to exploit the consistency of an individual patient's seizure and non-seizure EEG. Our method uses a wavelet decomposition to construct a feature vector that captures the morphology and spatial distribution of an EEG epoch, and then determines whether that vector is representative of a patient's seizure or non-seizure EEG using the support-vector machine classification algorithm. Our completely automated method was tested on non-invasive EEG from thirty-six pediatric subjects suffering from a variety of seizure types. it detected 131 of 139 seizure events within 8.0/spl plusmn/3.2 seconds following electrographic onset, and declared 15 false-detections in 60 hours of clinical EEG. Our patient-specific method can be used to initiate delay-sensitive clinical procedures following seizure onset; for example, the injection of an imaging radiopharmaceutical or stimulation of the vagus nerve.

P systems with symport/antiport rules of a minimal size (only one object passes in any direction in a communication step) were recently proven to be computationally universal. the proof from [2] uses systems with nine membranes. in this paper we improve this results, by showing that six membranes suffice. the optimality of this result remains open (we believe that the number of membranes can be reduced by one). © springer-Verlag 2004.

We present the miraQA system that constitutes MiRACLE first experience in Question Answering for monolingual spanish and has been developed for QA@CLEF 2004. the architecture of the system is described and details of our approach to statistical Answer Extraction based on Hidden Markov Models are presented. One run that uses last year question set for training purposes has been submitted. the results are presented together with ideas for improvement.
