Pulses are one of the most important food crops in the world due to their higher protein content, approximately 21%-25%. Therefore, it is crucial to analyze the crop's quality and impurity levels. Stones, pebbles, marble chips, and synthetic dyes, such as lead chromate, metanil yellow, and artificial colors, are some of the impurities added to pulse products, accidentally or on purpose. The existing analysis techniques are mostly laboratory-based, time-consuming, costly, and require human examination. To address this issue, this article presents an intelligent system, FoodExpert, based on image processing that automatically uses an image of a pulse sample to identify the region of interest and essential attributes. Then, machine learning frameworks are used to predict pulse quality and adulteration levels based on the obtained parameters. On the test dataset, the suggested model had a 96% accuracy rate for pulse quality prediction and 94% accuracy for adulteration level prediction. The model was successfully deployed on a Raspberry Pi-based hardware prototype and mobile application. © 2023 IEEE.

Hybrid dense matching features for cloud-based face recognition

Cloud computing is a computing service done not on a local device but an internet connection to a data centre infrastructure. The cloud computing system also provides a scalability solution where cloud computing can increase the resources needed when doing larger data processing. In recent years, face bio-metric plays an important role in biometric authentication, where security is the primary concern. The two major difficulties to be addressed in face recognition are illumination and pose variation. This work proposes a cloud computing-based face recognition technique by consolidating four-patch LBP and the local landmark features to the acquired feature vector. After that, the SVM is utilised to recognise the individual. The feature set used for training and testing is also made available in the cloud. At some stage in the training phase, the kernel parameters of SVM are optimised with GWO to improve the recognition performance. This method yields a maximum recognition accuracy of 99.00% with LFW and 98.0% accuracy with YTF. Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is a malicious attempt to disrupt normal web traffic, posing an increasing threat to network infrastructures due to the growing frequency and sophistication of such attacks. This necessitates the development of robust and adaptive defense mechanisms. In this research, we propose a deep learning-based approach for DDoS attack detection, leveraging a Software-Defined Net-working dataset. Our study explores three models: Long-short-term memory,convolutional neural network, and hybrid CNN-LSTM architecture, each designed to capture the temporal and spatial features inherent in network traffic data. The data set includes diverse attack scenarios, including UDP, ICMP, and SYN protocol. The LSTM model achieved an accuracy of 99. 61% in the SDN- DDOS data set, followed by the hybrid model at 99.24%, and the CNN model at 98.86%. © 2024 IEEE.

WCM-WTrA: A Cross-Project Defect Prediction Method Based on Feature Selection and Distance-Weight Transfer Learning

Cross-project defect prediction is a hot topic in the field of defect prediction. How to reduce the difference between projects and make the model have better accuracy is the core problem. This paper starts from two perspectives: feature selection and distance-weight instance transfer. We reduce the differences between projects from the perspective of feature engineering and introduce the transfer learning technology to construct a cross-project defect prediction model WCM-WTrA and multi-source model Multi-WCM-WTrA. We have tested on AEEEM and ReLink datasets, and the results show that our method has an average improvement of 23%compared with TCA+ algorithm on AEEEM datasets,and an average improvement of 5% on ReLink datasets.

This letter focuses on tackling the challenge of accurately determining the timing of buffalo calving while prioritizing power efficiency. To achieve this, a novel, compact, lightweight and power efficient device is designed for buffalo comfort and can be conveniently attached to the tail. The device wirelessly transmits data to a gateway using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This functionality becomes particularly crucial when the tail movement increases in the last 12 hrs before calving and is regarded as a key behavioral indicator for predicting the onset of labor. Moreover, when an accelerometer is tied to the buffalo's tail, the Z axis, which represents the vertical axis perpendicular to ground is anticipated to show the most notable deflections during this period as discussed in the literature. Thus, to conserve power, data is only transmitted when significant tail movement is detected, typically 12 hrs before calving, i.e., when Mean Z >-3 m/s2. This approach reduces the device's power consumption, extending its battery life to more than 6.08 years (approx.) using 620 mAh / 3V battery. © 2019 IEEE.

Deep neural networks have succeeded in learning balanced and imbalanced data in the field of pneumonia diagnosis. However, both require separate model designs in their respective domains. The pneumonia recognition methods have poor transfer performance between the two types of image distribution data. This paper proposes BeFormer, which focuses on sample relationships. BeFormer introduces two stages, feature extraction and establishing sample relationships, to solve the problem. Specifically, in the feature extraction stage, a new backbone network called PANet based on Multi-Scale Frequency Domain Attention (FPSA) is proposed. In establishing sample relationships, Deformable Transformer is used in parallel to model the relationships between partial regions of interest among the same and different samples in the pneumonia dataset. These two modules are connected in series to form BeFormer. Without making any changes to the model, this paper conducted experiments using BeFormer on both balanced and imbalanced pneumonia datasets. As compared to traditional pneumonia recognition models, the proposed method achieved significant improvements in the two different data distributions, demonstrating outstanding transfer performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Lung Cancer is the deadliest type of cancer. For diagnosing and detecting lung cancer, many Deep learning techniques are proposed. Deep learning techniques depend on massive data and extracting 3D features of images, which is a tedious task. Therefore deep transfer learning is used as an alternative for better results in medical image analyses like lung cancer, where pre-trained deep learning models are employed, which resolves the problem of labeled data scarcity. As no systematic survey is available in the literature, this paper reviews Lung Cancer detection and diagnosis using Deep Transfer Learning techniques. Moreover, all such methods are compared based on performance parameters like accuracy, Recall, F1- score and precision, etc. The comparison shows that the overall performance of deep learning techniques with the use of Transfer learning is enhanced. © 2023 IEEE.

This research work aims to develop an image captioning system utilizing deep learning techniques. The pre-trained VGG-16 model is employed to extract image features, while an innovative encoder-decoder architecture is used to generate descriptive captions. To ensure compatibility with the model, pre-processing techniques are applied to the dataset, which comprises images and their corresponding descriptions. Tokenization, vocabulary generation, and effectively utilizing a data generator are integral parts of the training process, facilitating the handling vast datasets. Multiple training epochs are employed to optimize the model's ability to associate captions with specific picture attributes. The model's performance is evaluated using BLEU-1 and BLEU-2 scores on a designated test set, providing quantitative insights into the quality of the generated captions. Additionally, this work includes a visualization component enabling users to input names of specific images, generating captions in real-time for comparative analysis with actual captions. This comprehensive approach integrates methodologies from computer vision and natural language processing, showcasing how deep learning can enhance the interpretability and comprehension of images akin to human perception. BLEU is a widely used, automated metric for evaluating image captioning models, offering objective and quantitative comparisons. © 2024 IEEE.

Enhancing real time object detection for autonomous driving using YOLO-NAS algorithm with CLEO optimizer

For autonomous driving to operate in a safe and effective manner, efficient and precise object detection is essential. The efficacy of the network model is heavily challenged because of the high-speed movement of vehicles and the dynamic nature of the surrounding environment that need the detection of objects of various scales. With notable improvements over earlier iterations, the You Only Look Once-Neural Architecture Search (YOLO-NAS) algorithm is a strong contender for improving real-time object recognition in autonomous vehicles. YOLO-NAS integrated with chimpanzee leader election optimization (CLEO) has the potential to greatly enhance the safety and dependability of autonomous driving systems by utilizing its sophisticated capabilities and skill fully combining it with the vehicle’s perception system. The BDD100K dataset serves as the training and evaluation set for our suggested technique. The YOLO-NAS model with CLEO optimizer achieves mean average precision (mAP) of 83%, which is significantly higher than the mAP of 65.7% attained by the YOLO-NAS model without the optimizer. This improvement highlights the effectiveness of the CLEO optimizer in enhancing detection precision. The proposed approach was compared with existing algorithms and demonstrated remarkable performance in terms of recall, precision, and mAP. It is seen that our proposed model is better by striking equilibrium between detection speed and accuracy. Based on our findings, object detection performance for autonomous driving applications is much enhanced when utilizing our suggested approach. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.
