A fuzzy adaptive multi-population parallel genetic algorithm for spam filtering

Nowadays, e-mail is one of the most inexpensive and expeditious means of communication. However, a principal problem of any internet user is the increasing number of spam, and therefore an efficient spam filtering method is imperative. Feature selection is one of the most important factors, which can influence the classification accuracy rate. To improve the performance of spam prediction, this paper proposes a new fuzzy adaptive multi-population parallel genetic algorithm (FAMGA) for feature selection. To maintain the diversity of population, a few studies of multi-swarm strategy are reported, whereas the dynamic parameter setting has not been considered further. The proposed method is based on multiple subpopulations and each subpopulation runs in independent memory space. For the purpose of controlling the subpopulations adaptively, we put forward two regulation strategies, namely population adjustment and subpopulation adjustment. In subpopulation adjustment, a controller is designed to adjust the crossover rate for each subpopulation, and in population adjustment, a controller is designed to adjust the size of each subpopulation. Three publicly available benchmark corpora for spam filtering, the PU1, Ling-Spam and Spam Assassin, are used in our experiments. The results of experiments show that the proposed method improves the performance of spam filtering, and is significantly better than other feature selection methods. Thus, it is proved that the multi-population regulation strategy can find the optimal feature subset, and prevent premature convergence of the population.

This paper studies the key technology of the license plate recognition system, including the image pre-processing, license plate location, etc. Through the thorough research on license plate characteristics and positioning technology, the method of the license plate localization is put forward based on the texture characteristics and vertical projection, which can very accurately find the license plate area.

A Culture Heuristic Evolutionary Programming (CHEP) method is proposed in this paper. Method CHEP evolves both on the culture space and the population space. When this method is used to slove constrained optimization problems, the constraints are described as knowledge in belief space, and guide to search in population space. Test shows the validity and universality of method CHEP for solving constrained optimization problems.

For urban planning and management, it is essential that detailed information about the environment of urban space, with its high level of pattern heterogeneity, is available. Thermal Infra Red Remote sensing allows spatializing land surface temperature(LST), a case study in changchun in northeast China was carried out, further analysis referred to quantifying spatial patterns of urban heat field and land use, based on topographic maps in 1990s and Land sat TM images in 1993 and 2005. The results showed there were changes in spatial patterns of urban thermal environment, and it was consistent with the direction of urban expansion. Moreover, LST existed differences on different underlying surface, the LST was the highest on the industrial land, followed by commercial land, public land and transportation land, the lowest was on the surface of water, followed by urban green land. In all, urban heat island effect had a trend of increase. © 2011 IEEE.

Structural variation (SV) has been reported to be associated with numerous diseases such as cancer. With the advent of next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, various types of SV can be potentially identified. We propose a model based clustering approach utilizing a set of features defined for each type of SV event. Our method, termed SVMiner, not only provides a probability score for each candidate, but also predicts the heterozygosity of genomic deletions. Experiments on genome-wide deep sequencing data have demonstrated that SVMiner is robust against the variability of a single cluster feature, and it performs well when classifying validated SV events with accentuated features.

Storing useful information can avoid useless constraint propagation in the process of algorithm. According to that, Some improvements were made on Singleton Arc Consistency algorithm in the preprocessing step and propose a revised algorithm, denoted SAC3-Revised, which can decrease constraint propagation and time. In our experiments on random CSPs, the efficiency of our algorithm is 2 times of SAC-3 when p2 is in a certain scope and then reaches a steady behavior. Experiments on benchmark show that the efficiency of SAC3_Revised is better than that of SAC-3.

It is important to draw real-time data with the upper computer in virtual instrument developing. The requirement of real-time performance cannot be satisfied by using third-part drawing control directly. This paper proposes an algorithm with segmenting the data and sampling to improve the performance of redrawing. In the mean while, the shape of the curve is undistorted, and the part of the curve showed keeps stable, not vibrate when new data comes. The algorithm has been applied in the development of an electrochemical workstation with adequate performance and display effect.

The road to a successful introduction of vehicular communications has to pass through the analysis of potential security threats and the design of robust security architecture able to cope with these threats. Ad hoc networks are a new wireless networking paradigm for mobile hosts. In this paper, we designed a framework of intelligent transport system. The main task of the road condition information transferring module is deal with the information exchange of the car inside, car to car and car to road. Vehicular networks are likely to become the most relevant form of mobile ad hoc networks. In the ITS of this paper, we concern the security issues of VANETs from some aspects and provide the appropriate solving measures. To make sure the ITS can be used under the security pattern. © 2010 IEEE.

In this work, a framework of multimedia retrieval system basing on the MPEG-7 standard as information schema will be proposed. It provides a content-based retrieval method which uses MPEG-7 Metadata description. The high efficient of multimedia retrieval as well as the data management is an important issue. Tending to query the multimedia data, the previous text-based retrieval system is too difficult for users to specify the data they want. So it is necessary to query multimedia itself or metadata based document. Our retrieval system can accept multimedia examples or metadata-based documents. The annotation and feature extraction of multimedia data will be discussed in this paper, and the organization of source multimedia data as well as other data structure for managing and storing will be discussed too. At the end a new method of metadata representation is proposed. © 2010 IEEE.
