Simultaneously Enhanced Mechanical Properties and Damping Capacities of ZK60 Mg Alloys Processed by Multi-Directional Forging

In this study,the mechanical properties and damping capacities of cast Mg-5.5 Zn-0.6 Zr(weight percent,ZK60)alloys have been simultaneously improved by a facile multi-directional forging(MDF)processing,and the mechanisms of microstructure evolution and texture modification are systematically *** activation of tension twinning occurs during the initial MDF stage,due to the coarse-grained structure of the as-cast *** increasing MDF passes,the continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX)results in a fine equiaxed-grain *** typical non-basal texture is formed in the as-MDFed alloy for 6 passes,with the(0001)planes inclined 60°–70°to forged direction and 10°–20°to transverse direction,respectively.A good balance between the strength(~194.9 MPa)and ductility(~24.9%)has been achieved,which can be ascribed to the grain refinement,non-basal texture and fine precipitate *** damping capacity is remarkably improved after MDF processing,because the severe deformation increases the dislocation density,which effectively enlarges the sweep areas of mobile dislocations.

Electromagnetic waves with orbital angular momentum (OAM) have garnered significant interest by reason of their potential in designing advanced communication systems. This paper reports on a specific design of a flexible graphene-based antenna for RF vortex wave generation. The antenna is composed of a ring-shaped resonator made of a graphene film with high conductivity deposited on a thin polydimethylsiloxane substrate. The graphene film is characterized by greater strength to repeated mechanical bending than metallic counterparts while providing good conductivity of the patch. We use the commercial ANSYS HFSS 3D electromagnetic solver to conduct full-wave numerical simulations of the antenna performances and radiation conditions, simulating the generation of vortex waves at different bending radii of the antenna. The mode purity is evaluated with the use of the spiral spectrum algorithm to reveal the stability of the vortex wave generation by the antenna in bent states. Several pilot samples of the antenna working in the RF band are fabricated and tested. Calculated together with empirical results demonstrate that the flexible antenna can stably generate vortex waves even subjected to either outward or inward bending. The proposed flexible graphene-based antenna has the potential for application in wireless communication systems. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work, the electro-coalescence process of multiple nanodroplets under DC electric field is investigated via molecular dynamics simulations. The detailed dynamic evolution can be directly observed on the molecular level. Furthermore, there are two critical electric fields during droplets coalescence. One is to form water chain, which occurs at a small simulated domain. The other one is to induce non-coalescence, Ecn, in an enlarging simulated zone. Finally, we use the pulsed DC electric field to overcome drawbacks of the constant DC electric field, which is relevant to the equivalent electric field strength (Ee-e-f). © 2023, The Authors. Spatial mass spectrometry imaging (SMSI) technology has enabled the characterization of biomolecule patterns within the tissue microenvironment, yet its analyses suffer from substantial noise. The lack of effective methods for exploiting multi-view features (e.g., spatial location) has hindered their elucidation ability for tissue heterogeneity. Here, we propose MSG, a multimodal modal that integrates histology, spatial location, and MSI data, in deciphering tissue structure by graph neural network. Specifically, MSG learns low-dimensional representations by aggregating histomorphological features from neighboring tiles via graph attention autoencoder. MSG outperforms other methods in identifying spatial domains and denoising data. The subsequent domain-guided differential expression analysis of the denoised data enables the identification of ions with significantly enriched patterns within the recognized domains. MSG exhibits its versatility in handling SMSI data from various platforms. © 2023 IEEE.

Microvascular invasion (MVI) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is of great guiding significance for the formulating treatment strategies and accessing the prognosis before the surgery. However, in traditional medicine, the gold standard for the diagnosis of MVI is obtained by examining pathological images which can only be obtained by sampling and sectioning tumors after surgery. At this time, MVI results have lost the timeliness of guiding tumor resection surgery. In order to solve this problem, existing studies began to use deep learning-based methods for preoperative prediction of MVI using non-invasive imaging. Most of these methods adopt the fusion methods of multi-sequence images to predict MVI, but fail to make full use of the characteristics of multiply sequences as prior knowledge to combine into the model, resulting in no further improvement of prediction performance. So we propose a multi-sequence image difference and correlation deep learning model. The model can extract the difference and correlation information between sequences from different scales and combine them into the model. To validate proposed model, we collected a data set consists of 120 HCC patients, including 50 MVI-positive patients. Compared with existing studies, our method has greatly improved in all evaluation metrics. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to enhance students’ initiative and participation in MOOC learning, this study constructed a multi-level network model based on Social Network Analysis (SNA). The model makes use of data pertaining to nearly 40,000 users and tens of thousands of courses from various higher education MOOC platforms. Furthermore, an AI-based assistant has been developed which utilises the collected data to provide personalised recommendations regarding courses and study groups for students. The objective is to examine the relationship between students’ course selection preferences and their academic interest levels. Based on the results of the relationship analysis, the AI assistant employs technologies such as GNN to recommend suitable courses and study groups to students. This study offers new insights into the potential of personalised teaching on MOOC platforms, demonstrating the value of data-driven and AI-assisted methods in improving the quality of online learning experiences, increasing student engagement, and enhancing learning outcomes. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

In this study, we design a structure consisting of the radial arrangement of several vertically standing dielectric disks (resonators) so that such a ring cluster supports exotic toroidal dipole mode excitation. Subsequently, the characteristics of a system composed of two identical rings with a change in the distance are studied to reveal how to affect the peculiarities of the coupling between two toroidal dipole modes. The manifestation of toroidal dipole coupling is confirmed by checking the extinction cross-section, near-field distributions, and induced toroidal moments obtained from both full-wave numerical simulation and microwave experiments. To experiment, particles are made from commercially available ceramics. During the measurements, standard microwave equipment is used to characterize the toroidal dipole coupling within the frequency band of 1-10 GHz. Since the structure comprises simple dielectric disks without any metallic elements, the proposed designs are hopefully scalable down to the micrometer or nanometer scale considering their practical applications as building blocks in metamaterials operated on the radiation-less exotic toroidal and anapole states. © 2024 IEEE.

Two-dimensional (2D) Luneburg lenses are attracting increasing research interest due to their unique beam collimation and steering capabilities. This paper explores the design and potential applications of a 2D Luneburg lens using PLA (polylactic acid) as the 3D printing material. Unlike the conventional Luneburg lens with different dielectric layers, we propose a design that utilizes only one material, and the refractive indices are varied by introducing air voids inside the substrate without compromising the structural or mechanical integrity of the lens. When fed with a waveguide, the proposed lens works in the X-band with a combined gain of approximately 12.7 dBi when fed by a waveguide. The lens was fabricated and verified by measurements.

Spatial transcriptomics (ST) has enabled us elucidating tumor microenvironments, however, the technological limitations without single-cell resolution severely hinder its application. Here, we propose CellMirror, an interpretable contrastive learning model to decipher heterogeneous cell populations in ST data by single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. Specifically, CellMirror learns the disentangled shared (representing biological variations in both data) and salient features (specific to ST data) by two contrastive variational encoders, while constructing the relations between genes and features by a shared linear decoder. In various cancer samples, CellMirror outperforms other tools in learning common features for label transfer, and interpretation of features. Particularly, in breast cancer studies, CellMirror detects finer domains in ST data missed by other methods, and is robust to dissect cell populations in ST data using independent scRNA-seq data. These results demonstrate applications of CellMirror in interpreting the complex tumor structure in ST data by integrating scRNA-seq data. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we use the 3D cylindrical finite volume (3D FV) method to simulate the Orthogonal Azimuth Electromagnetic Tool (OAEMT) responses Logging While Drilling (LWD) according to the special structure of the OAEMT with multi annular grooves. The algorithm allows the solution of the 3D Maxwell's equation in inhomogeneous media with arbitrary conductivity and magnetic permeability distributions. For improvement of the computational efficiency and the modeling accuracy of the responses of OAEMT with annular grooves filled with ferrite material on steel mandrel in a completely anisotropic media, several techniques are applied: 1) a 3-D cylindrical irregular grid to avoid stair-casing discretization errors in the transmitter, receiver, and mandrel geometries;2)the electric field continuation to approximate the perfectly electric conducting (PEC) boundary condition for enhancement of the discrete accuracy of the Helmholtz equations on the surface of steel mandrel;3)the standardization technique to determine the equivalent conductivity and permeability in a non-uniform element;4) PARDISO direct solver to solve the discrete equation as far as possible for increase of solution stability. We validate the 3D FV results against the numerical mode matching method. The comparisons show very good agreement. Results from 3-D borehole problems in several complex formation conditions involving eccentric tools and dipping beds are given to demonstrate the robustness of the method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
