Physician scheduling is a critical task that impacts the quality of patient care, staff satisfaction, and operational efficiency in healthcare institutions. The traditional approach to physician scheduling is manual and time-consuming, which can result in errors, staff burnout, and suboptimal schedules. To address these challenges, researchers have turned to optimization techniques like CSP, which has shown promise in solving physician scheduling problems. This paper reviews the existing literature on CSP for physician scheduling and highlights the benefits and limitations of this approach. CSP's benefits include generating schedules quickly and efficiently, incorporating complex constraints and preferences, and handling changes and disruptions in real time. However, CSP also has some limitations, such as the need for a formalized model and the fact that it may not always generate the most intuitive schedules. Overall, the findings suggest that CSP is a promising approach to physician scheduling that can produce high-quality schedules while minimizing staff burnout and improving operational efficiency.

Despite the increasing computing power of shared memory systems with high core counts, parallel graph processing frameworks cannot exploit it effectively. The reason behind this is the inherent challenges in parallel graph algorithms, which are efficient management of dynamically created tasks and irregular data access patterns. In this paper, we categorize several popular design choices into three design dimensions: (i) execution mode, (ii) data access pattern, and (iii) work activation. We provide their high-level parallel implementations and analyze various implementations of three representative iterative graph algorithms by considering these design dimensions. To gain a better understanding of design choices, we examine their impacts on performance, communication, scalability, and work efficiency. We also investigate the communication characteristics of the design choices on two state-of-the-art shared-memory platforms by performing micro-architectural analysis. Our microarchitectural analysis reveals that a topology-driven, pull-based model gives up to $20 x$ better performance.

Sleep is the natural state of relaxation for human being. Sleep quality is an essential yet frequently neglected aspect of sleep in general. Sleep quality is essential because it allows the body to restore itself and prepare for the next day. The standard method for evaluating sleep quality was subjective evaluation. Actigraphy devices, which can measure the sleep cycle, are now widely available. This study developed a method using Fuzzy Logic and an actigraphy device to measure and classify sleep quality. The fuzzy logic method was developed in several stages, which are determining the sleep quality measurement parameters, constructing the fuzzy set for each input variable, and developing the fuzzy rules. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, five individuals were invited to participate in the experiment and required to complete the PSQI subjective sleep questionnaire. The evaluation result shows that our proposed Fuzzy model achieves lower error compared to the existing method.

The spin Seebeck effect (SSE) is sensitive to thermally driven magnetic excitations in magnetic insulators. Vanadium dioxide in its insulating low-temperature phase is expected to lack magnetic degrees of freedom, as vanadium atoms are thought to form singlets upon dimerization of the vanadium chains. Instead, we find a paramagnetic SSE response in VO2 films that grows as the temperature decreases below 50 K. The field and temperature-dependent SSE voltage is qualitatively consistent with a general model of paramagnetic SSE response and inconsistent with triplet spin transport. Quantitative estimates find a spin Seebeck coefficient comparable in magnitude to that observed in strongly magnetic materials. The microscopic nature of the magnetic excitations in VO2 requires further examination.

In this paper, we propose a switching scheme of GCR Block Ack and GCR Unsolicited Retry, standardized in IEEE 802.11aa, according to network conditions for video and audio groupcast over wireless LANs. We utilize three transmission modes in the proposed method: GCR Block Ack with four retries, GCR Block Ack with two retries, and GCR Unsolicited Retry with twice transmission. The proposed method is compared with the three individual methods by computer simulation under various network conditions to evaluate application-level QoS. We then assess QoE by a subjective experiment. We show that the proposed method can choose an appropriate mode and achieve better QoE than the individual methods.
