Handling service access in a cloud environment has been identified as a critical challenge in the modern internet world due to the increased rate of intrusion *** address such threats towards cloud services,numerous techniques exist that mitigate the service threats according to different *** rule-based approaches are unsuitable for new threats,whereas trust-based systems estimate trust value based on behavior,flow,and other ***,the methods suffer from mitigating intrusion attacks at a higher *** article presents a novel Multi Fractal Trust Evaluation Model(MFTEM)to overcome these *** method involves analyzing service growth,network growth,and quality of service *** process estimates the user’s trust in various ways and the support of the user in achieving higher service performance by calculating Trusted Service Support(TSS).Also,the user’s trust in supporting network stream by computing Trusted Network Support(TNS).Similarly,the user’s trust in achieving higher throughput is analyzed by computing Trusted QoS Support(TQS).Using all these measures,the method adds the Trust User Score(TUS)value to decide on the clearance of user *** proposed MFTEM model improves intrusion detection accuracy with higher performance.

A novel feature selection approach with integrated feature sensitivity and feature correlation for improved prediction of heart disease

This paper presents a random forest-feature sensitivity and feature correlation (RF-FSFC) technique for enhanced heart disease prediction. The proposed methodology is implemented using the Cleveland heart disease dataset which comprises a total of 120 heart disease patient records. Data imputation was utilized for missing values, and min–max normalization was utilized for data transformation. We attempted to construct an RF-based classifier for coronary heart disease in this paper by combining feature sensitivity and correlation analysis. The sensitivity-based feature selection process ranks features according to their value in assessing CHD risk, and the feature correlation analysis phase analyses if there are any correlations between features. The heart disease prediction accuracy of 81.16% was obtained using the proposed RF-FSFCA technique by omitting five features (sex, hemoglobin, TD, CRF, and cirrhosis). When compared to the Naïve Bayes, decision tree, regression analysis, and support vector machine models, the proposed model offered a higher accuracy of 86.141% without omitting any features. It also offered sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) scores of 87.321%, 87.364%, 91.23, and 91.02 respectively. Experiment findings demonstrated that the proposed RF-FSFC approach significantly improves prediction accuracy as compared to other approaches that do not use the integrated Feature selection method. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Enhancing Secure Data Transmission Through Deep Learning-Based Image Steganography and Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Networks

In the era of multimedia technology digital images are essential and keeping them safe from unauthorised access is crucial. To address this issue, the proposed research explores the intersection of image steganography and deep learning for enhanced secure data transmission. It proposes a unique approach that leverages skip-connection-based residual network to extract semantic features and reconstruct images for secure data transmission. This paper introduces a novel steganographic approach combining LSB embedding with sprite image generation instead of directly using image features. Hence, the proposed method effectively hides data within images while maintaining high invisibility. Furthermore, Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (SRGAN) is employed to improve the quality of the reconstructed images. Several other custom and state-of-art convolutional architectures have also been investigated for semantic feature extraction and image reconstruction, including Convolutional Autoencoders (CAE), Deep convolutional network (DCN), DenseNet, InceptionNet and the XceptionNet model, etc. for the comprehensive comparisons against the proposed model. The proposed technique proved to be the best performing model with an SSIM value of 1.00 and PSNR value of 33.04 on the test data. The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and ubiquitous connectivity has led to uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) playing key role as edge servers, revolutionizing the wireless communications landscape by facilitating computing and caching resources closer to ground users (GUs). This advancement significantly alleviates core network loads, reduces latency, and guarantees content availability even in congested or remote areas. However, jointly optimizing UAV caching strategies and trajectories gives rise to a multi-task optimization (MTO) problem. This paper introduces a novel multi-task geo-temporal caching (MT-GTC) framework that addresses the interplay between UAV caching mechanisms and trajectory optimization in a cohesive manner. Leveraging a proposed multi-task learning (MTL) model for joint optimization of UAV caching and trajectory design, we develop a federated learning cloud-assisted knowledge distillation (FL-CAKD) scheme to preserve data privacy and adapt to data heterogeneity. FL-CAKD transfers knowledge from a cloud model orchestrator (CMO), which houses a large and sophisticated teacher model, to a lightweight on-device MTL student models using soft target distributions instead of large model parameters, significantly reducing communication costs. MT-GTC optimizes caching and trajectories to maximize cache hits and minimize latency. Evaluations on real-world mobility datasets demonstrate up to 95% cache hit rates and 21% lower delays compared to baselines. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Convergence of Deep Learning and Forensic Methodologies Using Self-attention Integrated EfficientNet Model for Deep Fake Detection

The immensely increasing number of Deepfake technologies poses significant challenges to digital media integrity, leading to the immediate need for effective Deepfake detection methods. In light of the growing threat posed by sophisticated synthetic media, this paper tackles the urgent need for accurate deepfake detection in real-time by proposing a novel classification model employing a fine-tuned EfficientNet-B0 model with an optimally integrated Self-attention mechanism. The study also analyzes various Deepfake generation techniques by utilizing a suite of Convolutional Neural Networks namely, XceptionNet, NasNetLarge, InceptionV3, ConNextv1, ConvNext2 and EfficientB0 model on the Celeb-DF dataset for baseline model selection and performance comparison purposes. The results prove that the proposed fine-tuned EfficientNet-B0 model with integrated self-attention mechanism is the most superior at identifying complex long-range dependencies and relations in various unconnected image regions, highlighting the importance of attention mechanisms in improving deep learning models for multimedia forensics with a remarkable F-score of 97.67%. In an era marked by the proliferation of sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI)-driven synthetic media, these findings establish the foundation for strengthening digital media platform security and protecting information authenticity. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

A Multi-path Droplet Routing Protocol for Digital Microfluidic Biochip

Digital microfluidic biochip provides an alternative platform to synthesize the biochemical protocols. Droplet routing in biochemical synthesis involves moving multiple droplets across the biochip simultaneously. It involves challenges like moving droplets without violating the fluid constraints. This article proposed a multi-path droplet routing protocol. Multiple routes are explored and validated using special packets. These routes are then classified based on user-defined heuristics. A single route is sequentially selected for each droplet. The routes are then compacted to generate a parallel moving sequence. The simulation result shows 2.087% and 4.952% improvement in the latest arrival time for free and virtual topology, respectively. © 2024 Slovene Society Informatika. All rights reserved.

The impact of backbone selection in YOLOv8 models on brain tumor localization

This study investigates the utilization of the You Only Look Once (YOLOv8) deep learning framework for accurately identifying the location of brain tumors in medical imaging. We investigate the effects of model size and pretraining on the accuracy and computational efficiency of tumor detection by utilizing different setups of the YOLOv8 model. These setups include various configurations, ranging from very small to large, and can be pretrained on the COCO dataset or not. The experimental results, carried out on Google Colaboratory using NVIDIA Tesla T4 GPUs, show that pretrained models often achieve better performance by utilizing the extensive feature representations learned from the COCO dataset, resulting in increased precision in tumor location. For instance, the YOLOv8-XS model pretrained on COCO achieves an IoU of 0.278 and a Dice coefficient of 0.435, whereas its non-pretrained counterpart attains only 0.241 IoU and 0.388 Dice, indicating a 15% improvement in tumor localization accuracy. Similarly, pretrained YOLOv8-L achieves 0.269 IoU, outperforming standard object detection models such as Mask R-CNN (IoU: 0.212) and Faster R-CNN (IoU: 0.228). These results highlight the impact of pretraining on model performance, particularly for lightweight architectures, while also revealing diminishing returns for larger models. The research uncovers a subtle connection between the complexity of the model, pretraining, and the time required for training. It emphasizes the possible advantages and constraints of pretraining for various sizes of models. © The Author(s) 2025.

Fire alarm systems play a vital role in providing early warnings, facilitating prompt evacuation in emergency situations. These systems ensure the security of individuals by alerting them to possible risks and allowing rapid responses to minimize the impact of fires. The research investigates the integration of IoT devices into a Cisco Packet Tracer simulated environment for fire detectionwithin a centralized architecture using a star topology. The significance of an IoT system determines its ability to simulate and analyse diverse IoT device integrations, evaluate various protocols. The System incorporates smoke detection sensors for precise identification of fire events and motion-detecting sensors seamlessly integrated with cameras for motion capture. Performance of different protocols, including BGP, DHCP, EIGRP, HSRP, ICMP, OSPF, RIPis evaluated in terms of response time. The findings contribute valuable insights into optimizing protocol selection for enhanced real-time responsiveness in IoT-based fire alarm systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Electricity Cost Minimization for Multi-Workflow Allocation in Geo-Distributed Data Centers

Worldwide, Geo-distributed Data Centers (GDCs) provide computing and storage services for massive workflow applications, resulting in high electricity costs that vary depending on geographical locations and time. How to reduce electricity costs while satisfying the deadline constraints of workflow applications is important in GDCs, which is determined by the execution time of servers, power, and electricity price. Determining the completion time of workflows with different server frequencies can be challenging, especially in scenarios with heterogeneous computing resources in GDCs. Moreover, the electricity price is also different in geographical locations and may change dynamically. To address these challenges, we develop a geo-distributed system architecture and propose an Electricity Cost aware Multiple Workflows Scheduling algorithm (ECMWS) for servers of GDCs with fixed frequency and power. ECMWS comprises four stages, namely workflow sequencing, deadline partitioning, task sequencing, and resource allocation where two graph embedding models and a policy network are constructed to solve the Markov Decision Process (MDP). After statistically calibrating parameters and algorithm components over a comprehensive set of workflow instances, the proposed algorithms are compared with the state-of-the-art methods over two types of workflow instances. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm significantly outperforms other algorithms, achieving an improvement of over 15% while maintaining an acceptable computational time.
