Quadratic and Lagrange interpolation-based butterfly optimization algorithm for numerical optimization and engineering design problem

This work proposes a novel and improved Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA), known as LQBOA, to solve BOA’s inherent limitations. The LQBOA uses Lagrange interpolation and simple quadratic interpolation techniques with adapted parameter settings to enhance the search strategy of BOA and to achieve a better balance of diversification and intensification. LQBOA’s performance was examined on 45 traditional benchmark issues as well as the IEEE CEC 2017 benchmark suites with 10, 30 and 50 dimensions, and the results were compared against popular state-of-the-art and modified algorithms. It was discovered that in more than 85% of cases, the proposed LQBOA outperformed the compared algorithms. The Friedman rank test and Wilcoxon rank test were used to validate the suggested LQBOA’s rank and significance. Additionally, convergence and diversity analyses were performed to investigate its convergence speed and searching behavior, respectively. Furthermore, LQBOA has been successfully deployed to solve twelve real-world issues including several engineering design problems and two multiple gravity assist spacecraft trajectory problems. The results of these problems were compared to those of a wide range of algorithms, demonstrating the superior performance of the proposed LQBOA. Malaria, a significant global health threat, is traditionally diagnosed through manual examination of blood smears for parasite-infected cells, a method limited by its reliance on the examiner’s expertise. To overcome these limitations, this study employs deep learning for malaria prediction, leveraging models like XCEPTION, AlexNet, DenseNet, and MobileNet, enhanced with transfer learning, to classify blood smears as parasitized or uninfected using Anaconda software. The models were trained on a dataset comprising 80% of the online medical records, with 10% used for validation and the remaining 10% for testing on 224 × 224 pixel images. DenseNet emerged as the top performer with a 97% accuracy rate, followed by MobileNet, AlexNet, and XCEPTION. The study further incorporates the LIME (Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations) technique for interpretability, providing understandable explanations for predictions to bolster trust and transparency in the deep learning model’s diagnostic capabilities. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Exploring diversity and time-aware recommendations: an LSTM-DNN model with novel bidirectional dynamic time warping algorithm

With the advent of the Web 3.0 era, the amount and types of data in the network have sharply increased, and the application scenarios of recommendation algorithms are continuously expanding. Location recommendation has gradually become one of the popular application scenarios in recommendation algorithms. Traditional recommendation algorithms not only ignore the temporal attribute of data when recommending information to users, but also blindly pursue the recommendation accuracy, which will cause certain "information cocoon room" problems. Therefore, this article treats user historical data as a time series and proposes an LSTM-DNN model based on the novel bidirectional Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm. Firstly, in response to the issue of different users consuming different amounts of information, this article proposes a novel bidirectional DTW algorithm to calculate the similarity between different users. Secondly, this article supplements the user dataset from three perspectives: "utilization" and "exploration" of information, and spatiotemporal attributes of data, which alleviates the problem of data sparsity and cold start in the dataset to a certain extent. Moreover, it effectively enhances the diversity of recommendation results. Finally, this paper constructs an Long Short-Term Memory-Deep Neural Networks (LSTM-DNN) to dynamically obtain user interests and preferences, and proposes a new metric Cumulative Self-System Diversity (CSSD) to measure the diversity of algorithm recommendation results. This paper presents an efficient prediction model for a good learning environment using Random Forest(RF)*** consists of a series of modules;data preprocessing,data normalization,data split andfinally classification or prediction by the RF *** preprocessed data is normalized using minmax normalization often used before *** the input data or variables are measured at different scales,it is necessary to normalize them to contribute equally to the ***,the RF classifier is employed for course selection which is an ensemble learning method and k-fold cross-validation(k=10)is used to validate the *** proposed Prediction Model for Course Selection(PMCS)system is considered a multi-class problem that predicts the course for a particular learner with three complexity levels,namely low,medium and *** is operated under two modes;locally and *** former considers the gender of the learner and the later does not consider the gender of the *** database comprises the learner opinions from 75 males and 75 females per category(low,medium and high).Thus the system uses a total of 450 samples to evaluate the performance of the PMCS *** show that the system’s performance,while using locally i.e.,gender-wise has slightly higher performance than the global *** RF classifier with 75 decision trees in the global system provides an average accuracy of 97.6%,whereas in the local system it is 97%(male)and 97.6%(female).The overall performance of the RF classifier with 75 trees is better than 25,50 and 100 decision trees in both local and global systems.

Sentiment analysis can be used to identify if a text’s sentiment is neutral, positive, or negative. One type of natural language processing is sentiment analysis. An interdisciplinary field encompassing linguistics, computer science, and artificial intelligence called “natural language processing” studies how computers and human language interact, with a focus on how to teach computers to process and analyze vast volumes of natural language data. Sentiment analysis, sometimes referred to as opinion mining or emotion artificial intelligence, is the methodical identification, extraction, quantification, and study of affective states and subjective data using natural language processing, text analysis, computational linguistics, and biometrics. Sentiment analysis is frequently used in online and social media platforms, voice of the customer materials (such as reviews and survey replies), and healthcare materials for marketing, customer service, and clinical medicine purposes. Pneumonia is an infection often caused by several viral infections and prediction of pneumonia requires expertise from radiotherapists, posing challenges, especially in remote areas. Developing an automatic pneumonia detection system is crucial to detect and treat pneumonia disease. Hence, an innovative approach is proposed to detect pneumonia by utilizing the ensemble of deep learning models, specifically VGG16, ResNet50, and InceptionV3. The ensemble method integrates predictions from these various architectures to enhance overall classification performance. Rather than starting the training of each model from the beginning, transfer learning techniques are utilized to fine-tune Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models using a pre-existing knowledge base. This involves leveraging pre-trained models and adapting them specifically for the disease diagnose on Chest X-ray image dataset. The features are extracted from VGG16, ResNet50, and InceptionV3 models and the classes of disease are predicted by using softmax layers. Finally, ensemble learning is employed to fuse the predictions of multiple neural network architectures within Tri-UnityNet, enhancing its accuracy and robustness in pneumonia detection. By leveraging the complementary strengths of diverse models, the ensemble approach achieves superior performance, contributing to more reliable diagnostic outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper we provided an insightful exploration into the critical role of feature matching in enhancing the efficacy of e-commerce recommendation systems. By meticulously analyzing user data and product characteristics, feature matching significantly improves the personalization of product suggestions, thereby augmenting user experience and engagement in online shopping platforms. The paper reviews existing methodologies, including collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, hybrid models, and advanced deep learning approaches, which have collectively advanced the domain of personalized recommendations. Despite these advancements, the paper identifies key limitations such as scalability challenges, the cold start problem, over-specialization versus diversity in recommendations, and concerns over user privacy and data security. Through this comprehensive analysis, the survey makes substantial contributions by delineating the current state of the art, pinpointing critical gaps, and suggesting avenues for future research. The paper particularly emphasizes the need for dynamic adaptation in recommendation systems to keep pace with the fast-evolving e-commerce sector and changing consumer behaviors. Future research directions highlighted include the exploration of unsupervised and reinforcement learning models, the development of cross-domain recommendation systems, and the integration of emerging technologies, all aimed at fostering more nuanced, adaptable, and ethically responsible recommendation mechanisms. © 2024 Slovene Society Informatika. Face recognition is a fast-growing technology that is widely used in forensics such as criminal identification, secure access, and prison *** contrasts from other classification issues in that there are normally a more number of classes in face recognition. Thus, the validation accuracy of the conventional subsystem face recognition is unsuitable. In order to overcome the problems that are likely to be encountered, the proposed method utilizes the Spider Monkey inspired Optimization (SMO) algorithm for face clustering and recognition. At first feature reduction is done by Advance Principal Component Analysis (APCA) which is a hybridization of PCA and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). After reducing the features, the selected features are grouped and faces are recognized by means of SMO algorithm. From the food search behavior of spider monkeys, SMO algorithm is developed. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by means of sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. Here the proposed method accomplishes 98.66% accuracy. Using the MATLAB platform, the recommended technique is implemented. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Optimized graph transformer with molecule attention network based multi class attack detection framework for enhancing privacy and security in WSN

In today's rapidly evolving network landscape, cybersecurity has become increasingly crucial. However, wireless sensor networks face unique challenges due to their limited resources and diverse composition, high computational demands, diminished accuracy rates, making them susceptible to a wide array of cyber threats. To tackle these challenges, this research introduced a novel method known as Optimized Graph Transformer with Molecule Attention Network (OGTMAN) on the fusion of Secure Multi-party Computation (SMC) and differential privacy aimed at enhancing privacy and security. This approach starts with data preprocessing, employing min–max normalization to address dataset imbalances. N-Tuple Contrastive Learning with Generative transformer(N-TCLG)feature extractor distinguish between different classes of data instances and effectively learns representations that capture relevant information about network traffic patterns Further, feature selection by enhanced chi-square statistics with kepler algorithm, is utilized to assess the significance of each feature in characteristic between normal network behavior and malicious activities further refines the feature selection method by optimizing the selection criteria based on the statistical properties of the dataset. Finally, the proposed OGTMAN classifies various attacks based on their behavioural patterns with the help of enhanced ant aphid optimization with adaptive step factor. Ultimately, this fine-tuning yield superior model training outcomes, resulting more accurate attack classification outcomes. To evaluate the effectiveness of this approach, datasets encompassing with KDD Cup 99 datasets are employed. In this paper, we propose hardware acceleration to improve a performance of scripting programming languages for embedded developments. Scripting programming languages enable more efficient software developments and scripting programming languages are used in several system developments such as IoT developments. However, scripting programming languages are an interpreted language and the program is executed by a virtual machine, so it takes a long time to execute. Therefore, we implemented hardware acceleration for scripting programming language "mruby/c" targeting small embedded devices. The hardware acceleration supports bottleneck processing of a virtual machine of mruby/c, execution speeds are improved. This paper describes the configuration of the hardware acceleration for mruby/c and the performance evaluation. © 2024 Japan Society for Software science and technology. All rights reserved.
