Integrating deep and handcrafted features for enhanced decision-making assistance in breast cancer diagnosis on ultrasound images

The classification of breast cancer has emerged as a significant concern in the healthcare sector in recent times. This is primarily due to its status as the second leading cause of cancer-related fatalities among women. Prior research in the field of breast cancer classification has mainly focused on either traditional Machine Learning (ML) based models or employing Deep Learning (DL) models. However, both approaches solely fail to capture the complete spectrum of features necessary for accurate classification. Therefore, this paper introduces a classification model named Hybrid Breast Cancer Prediction System (HBCPS), which utilizes a combination of features derived from deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model and handcrafted features, to improve classification performance. The proposed HBCPS uses the pre-trained ResNet50 network to extract the deep features, while the handcrafted features are obtained using Histogram Orientation Gradient (HOG). For classification the proposed approach uses Support Vector Machine (SVM). In addition, the proposed method integrates the Block Matching 3D(BM3D) denoising filter. This filter efficiently reduces multiplicative noise such as speckle noise from Breast Ultrasound (BUS) images, resulting in improved image quality. This enhancement technique has significantly contributed to improve the overall performance of the system. The proposed framework is evaluated using a widely used Breast Ultrasound Image (BUSI) dataset. The proposed HBCPS exhibited satisfactory performance with an accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, specificity, and AUC values of 89.02%, 87.67%, 87.17%, 87.36%, 83.87%, and 0.8717, respectively. These metrics indicate the robustness and reliability of the proposed method and offer a comprehensive framework for breast cancer classification using BUS images. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Social media has become an essential forum for people to share their thoughts and sentiments owing to the quick rise in mobile technology. Business and political organizations might benefit from understanding public sentiment when making strategic decisions. Challenges in the area include handling noisy and incomplete data, variation in language use across domains, and integration into existing systems of models developed for analysis. In these ways, they can seriously hamper the accuracy and generalizability of sentiment analysis models. In view of the challenges, this work has developed a new and innovative framework of AI-based semantic analysis for assessing and classifying user views from social data. In spite of this, sentiment analysis is crucial for determining the opposing perspectives of the general public's sentiments. This work constructed a new and innovative framework called Semantic analysis based on AI (SemAI) for assessing and categorizing user views from social data. With high efficiency, a collection of intelligence algorithms in the stages of feature extraction, optimization, and sentiment prediction are applied here. The Degree of Correlation Network Model (DCNM) is used in this work to extract the subset of dependable and most-required features from social network data. The most recent meta-heuristics model, Heap based Optimization (HbO), is used to reduce the dimensionality of retrieved features. Furthermore, the unique classification algorithm, Self-Attention based Deep Analyzing Network (SA-DAN), is used in this work to precisely identify and categorize attitudes into positive, neutral, and negative classifications. This present study used a variety of most recent social corpus data to investigate and evaluate the Sem-AI model's outputs. Due to the dynamic nature and node mobility,assuring the security of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks(MANET)is one of the difficult and challenging tasks *** MANET,the Intrusion Detection System(IDS)is crucial because it aids in the identification and detection of malicious attacks that impair the network’s regular *** machine learning and deep learning methodologies are used for this purpose in the conventional works to ensure increased security of ***,it still has significant flaws,including increased algorithmic complexity,lower system performance,and a higher rate of ***,the goal of this paper is to create an intelligent IDS framework for significantly enhancing MANET security through the use of deep learning ***,the min-max normalization model is applied to preprocess the given cyber-attack datasets for normalizing the attributes or fields,which increases the overall intrusion detection performance of ***,a novel Adaptive Marine Predator Optimization Algorithm(AOMA)is implemented to choose the optimal features for improving the speed and intrusion detection performance of ***,the Deep Supervise Learning Classification(DSLC)mechanism is utilized to predict and categorize the type of intrusion based on proper learning and training *** evaluation,the performance and results of the proposed AOMA-DSLC based IDS methodology is validated and compared using various performance measures and benchmarking datasets.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has severely disrupted both human life and the health care *** diagnosis and treatment have become increasingly important;however,the distribution and size of lesions vary widely among individuals,making it challenging to accurately diagnose the *** study proposed a deep-learning disease diagnosismodel based onweakly supervised learning and clustering visualization(W_CVNet)that fused classification with ***,the data were *** optimizable weakly supervised segmentation preprocessing method(O-WSSPM)was used to remove redundant data and solve the category imbalance ***,a deep-learning fusion method was used for feature extraction and classification recognition.A dual asymmetric complementary bilinear feature extraction method(D-CBM)was used to fully extract complementary features,which solved the problem of insufficient feature extraction by a single deep learning ***,an unsupervised learning method based on Fuzzy C-Means(FCM)clustering was used to segment and visualize COVID-19 lesions enabling physicians to accurately assess lesion distribution and disease *** this study,5-fold cross-validation methods were used,and the results showed that the network had an average classification accuracy of 85.8%,outperforming six recent advanced classification models.W_CVNet can effectively help physicians with automated aid in diagnosis to determine if the disease is present and,in the case of COVID-19 patients,to further predict the area of the lesion.

The ringed residual u-net with non-natural regions feature for image splicing forgery detection and localization

Recently, with the emergence of many image editing tools (photoshop, Topaz studio, etc.), the authenticity of images has been severely challenged. However, the performance of some existing traditional feature extraction methods and detection methods based on convolutional neural network (CNN) is poor, and the information provided by the features extracted from the network is limited and single. In this paper, an end-To-end ringed residual U-Net is proposed to detect image splicing forgery by blending features of non-natural regions. Some regions with significant differences from the image background are defined as non-natural regions(such as the irregular border at the splicing of images). In this paper, a feature enhancement module for non-natural regions is constructed, which the image through the pooling of four different scales, and these features are then combined with the original image and input to the backbone network for processing, aiming to highlight regions of the image that differ significantly from the background. Therefore, after adding the feature enhancement module for non-natural regions to the end-To-end ring residual U-Net, more attention will be paid to the tampering regions in the feature extraction stage, image manipulation detection and localization will also become more accurate. Compared with some mainstream methods, this method achieves better performance on the three standard datasets(CASIA2.0, NIST2016, COLUMBIA). Medical imaging has been used extensively in healthcare in recent years for a variety of purposes, including disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and tracking the course of an illness. These applications entail taking pictures of the afflicted organ using a variety of modalities. Image segmentation and classification is two important process performed in disease diagnostic application. Deep reinforcement learning approach applied in many gaming application. DRL provides the accurate result in many real world applications, so researchers pay attention in DRL in medical data that helps the physicians in treating the patient. This study focus on surveying the various applications such as Image registration, lesion localization, image segmentation, image classification and Landmark detection using deep reinforcement learning in healthcare. In addition, this study investigates on the various DRL algorithms (Qlearning, deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG), Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TDDDPG), Deep Q Network (DQN) and Soft Actor-Critic (SAC) in Alzheimer's disease prediction. Among the DRL methods the DDPG achieved the highest accuracy in detecting the Alzheimer's disease with 97%. © 2024 IEEE.

A topical VAEGAN-IHMM approach for automatic story segmentation

Feature representations with rich topic information can greatly improve the performance of story segmentation tasks. VAEGAN offers distinct advantages in feature learning by combining variational autoencoder (VAE) and generative adversarial network (GAN), which not only captures intricate data representations through VAE's probabilistic encoding and decoding mechanism but also enhances feature diversity and quality via GAN's adversarial training. To better learn topical domain representation, we used a topical classifier to supervise the training process of VAEGAN. Based on the learned feature, a segmentor splits the document into shorter ones with different topics. Hidden Markov model (HMM) is a popular approach for story segmentation, in which stories are viewed as instances of topics (hidden states). The number of states has to be set manually but it is often unknown in real scenarios. To solve this problem, we proposed an infinite HMM (IHMM) approach which utilized an HDP prior on transition matrices over countably infinite state spaces to automatically infer the state's number from the data. Given a running text, a Blocked Gibbis sampler labeled the states with topic classes. The position where the topic changes was a story boundary. Experimental results on the TDT2 corpus demonstrated that the proposed topical VAEGAN-IHMM approach was significantly better than the traditional HMM method in story segmentation tasks and achieved state-of-the-art performance. © 2024 the Author(s).

High-dimensional and incomplete(HDI) matrices are primarily generated in all kinds of big-data-related practical applications. A latent factor analysis(LFA) model is capable of conducting efficient representation learning to an HDI matrix,whose hyper-parameter adaptation can be implemented through a particle swarm optimizer(PSO) to meet scalable ***, conventional PSO is limited by its premature issues,which leads to the accuracy loss of a resultant LFA model. To address this thorny issue, this study merges the information of each particle's state migration into its evolution process following the principle of a generalized momentum method for improving its search ability, thereby building a state-migration particle swarm optimizer(SPSO), whose theoretical convergence is rigorously proved in this study. It is then incorporated into an LFA model for implementing efficient hyper-parameter adaptation without accuracy loss. Experiments on six HDI matrices indicate that an SPSO-incorporated LFA model outperforms state-of-the-art LFA models in terms of prediction accuracy for missing data of an HDI matrix with competitive computational ***, SPSO's use ensures efficient and reliable hyper-parameter adaptation in an LFA model, thus ensuring practicality and accurate representation learning for HDI matrices.

Automatic emotion recognition using deep neural network

Emotions are a vital semantic part of human correspondence. Emotions are significant for human correspondence as well as basic for human–computer cooperation. Viable correspondence between people is possibly achieved when both the importance and the emotion of the correspondence are perceived by all groups included. Understanding the significance of language has generally been concentrated on in natural language processing (NLP) as a semantic examination. In NLP, the text can be handled appropriately for classification. Emotion detection from facial emotion is the subfield of social signal processing applied in a wide assortment of regions, explicitly for human and PC collaboration. Many researchers have proposed various approaches, generally utilizing machine learning concepts. Automatic emotion recognition (AER) is significant for working with consistent intuitiveness between a person and a smart device toward fully acknowledging an intelligent society. Many researchers examined cross-lingual and multilingual speech emotion as a stage toward language-free emotion acknowledgment in natural speech. In the present work, we are proposing a deep learning-based AER system using four openly accessible datasets, namely Basic Arabic Vocal Emotions Dataset (BAVED), Acted Emotional Speech Dynamic Database (AESDD), Urdu written in Latin/Roman Script (URDU), and Toronto Emotional Speech Set (TESS), by utilizing the Jupyter notebook and a Python library for music and audio synthesis named Librosa. The experimental results exhibited that the proposed approach achieves better than the existing approaches, i.e., the accuracy of the proposed system with the URDU dataset is 96.24%, the TESS dataset is 99.10%, the AESDD dataset is 65.97%, and the BAVED dataset is 73.12%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
