Learning concept prerequisite relations helps better master and build a logically coherent knowledge structure. Many studies use graph neural networks to create heterogeneous knowledge networks that enhance concept representations. However, different types of relations in these networks can influence each other. Existing research often focuses solely on concept relations, neglecting other types of knowledge connections. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel concept prerequisite relation learning model, named the Global Knowledge Relation Optimization Model(GKROM). Specifically, we capture the impact of different knowledge relation types on document and concept semantic representations separately, integrating the document and concept semantic representations. Then, we introduce multi-objective learning to optimize the knowledge relation network from a global perspective. Through the above optimization, GKROM learns richer semantic representations for concepts and documents, improving the accuracy of concept prerequisite relation learning. Extensive experiments on public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our GKROM, achieving state-of-the-art performance in concept prerequisite relation learning. Online payment fraud detection relies on a credible characterization of individual behaviors. Existing individual behavior profiling methods have three problems in credibility. Firstly, they solely regard users as individuals to model and fail to credibly characterize the whole behavior patterns of transactions. Secondly, they cannot make full use of the general information among similar individuals due to the heterogeneity of transaction attributes. Thirdly, they are not capable of utilizing the label information of transactions credibly. Faced with these challenges, we propose a credible method for individual behavior profiling that consists of two steps. The first step is the construction of the credible individual behavior profiling framework. To begin with, the concept of individuals is generalized and the credible transaction description is given. Afterwards, based on the co-occurrence information of transaction attributes, the credible behavior condition is defined to set a limit to individual behavior patterns. The second step is the implementation of the framework. For this purpose, the original fraud detection problem is transformed into a pseudo-recommender system problem with a co-occurrence mapping process. In order to guarantee the credible behavior constraint, a credible recommendation algorithm is designed to collaboratively restore both the ranking and rating information of the pseudo-rating matrices. Besides, an embedding based approach is adopted to parameterize the proposed model. Experiments on an online payment transaction dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2021 ACM.

Video classification is a challenging task because of the intricate spatiotemporal information present within videos. Current models often rely on 2D or 3D convolutional neural networks. However, convolutional neural networks are difficult to solve the long-range dependency problem. In addition, they are computationally expensive and memory-intensive. To address the challenges, a Multi-layer Transformer is proposed for video classification. The proposed method takes advantage of the high correlation between adjacent frames by grouping them and learning local and global information with a multi-layer structure based on Transformer. First, different frame sampling rates and grouping strategies are tested in the experiments, then comparing the method with state-of-The-Art models. The results demonstrate that the proposed method has advanced performance with TOP1 accuracy of 77.8% on the Kinetics-400 dataset and 64.9% on the Something-Something v2 dataset. © 2023 IOS Press. Short-term multi-step-ahead sector-based traffic flow prediction based on the attention-enhanced graph convolutional LSTM network (AGC-LSTM)

Accurate sector-based air traffic flow predictions are essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the air traffic management (ATM) system. However, due to the inherent spatial and temporal dependencies of air traffic flow, it is still a challenging problem. To solve this problem, some methods are proposed considering the relationship between sectors, while the complicated spatiotemporal dynamics and interdependencies between traffic flow of route segments related to the sector are not taken into account. To address this challenge, the attention-enhanced graph convolutional long short-term memory network (AGC-LSTM) model is applied to improve the short-term sector-based traffic flow prediction, in which spatial structures of route segments related to the sector are considered for the first time. Specifically, the graph convolutional networks (GCN)-LSTM network model was employed to capture spatiotemporal dependencies of the flight data, and the attention mechanism is designed to concentrate on the informative features from key nodes at each layer of the AGC-LSTM model. The proposed model is evaluated through a case study of the typical enroute sector in the central–southern region of China. The prediction results show that MAE reduces by 14.4% compared to the best performing GCN-LSTM model among the other five models. Furthermore, the study involves comparative analyses to assess the influence of route segment range, input and output sequence lengths, and time granularities on prediction performance. This study helps air traffic managers predict flight situations more accurately and avoid implementing overly conservative or excessively aggressive flow management measures for the sectors. © The Author(s) 2024.

Transfer Task-Averaged Natural Gradient for Efficient Many-Task Optimization

With the increasing requirement for computational efficiency in evolutionary algorithms when tackling many optimization tasks concurrently, many-task optimization (MaTO) has gained much attention in recent years. It involves extracting and transferring the knowledge from successful search experiences across many tasks. As the number of tasks and variable scale grows in MaTO, the need for efficient knowledge transfer in evolutionary algorithms becomes indispensable. In this paper, we present a task-averaged natural gradient-assisted natural evolution strategy (TNG-NES) to deal with MaTO efficiently. The task-averaged natural gradient captures how a group of task distributions evolves, considering their overall trends of mean and covariance. This can accelerate the optimization process across all tasks by leveraging the evolutionary similarities among multiple task search distributions. Notably, TNG-NES exhibits linear computational complexity concerning the number of tasks for knowledge transfer. Additionally, to adaptively utilize task-averaged natural gradient for distribution evolution and mitigate negative transfer, we introduce a transfer adaptive control mechanism for TNG-NES. We conducted extensive experiments on CEC19-MaTO, WCCI22-MaTO, our proposed large-scale MaTO benchmark suite, and real-world applications. The results validate the effectiveness of TNG-NES, outperforming state-of-the-art MaTO algorithms. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

CMD: A Cache-assisted GPU Memory Deduplication Architecture

Massive off-chip accesses in GPUs are the main performance bottleneck, and we divided these accesses into three types: (1) Write, (2) Data-Read, and (3) Read-Only. Besides, We find that many writes are duplicate, and the duplication can be inter-dup and intra-dup. While inter-dup means different memory blocks are identical, and intra-dup means all the 4B elements in a line are the same. In this work, we propose a cache-assisted GPU memory deduplication architecture named CMD to reduce the off-chip accesses via utilizing the data duplication in GPU applications. CMD includes three key design contributions which aim to reduce the three kinds of accesses: (1) A novel GPU memory deduplication architecture that removes the inter-dup and inter-dup lines. As for the inter-dup detection, we reduce the extra read requests caused by the traditional read-verify hash process. Besides, we design several techniques to manage duplicate blocks. (2) We propose a cache-assisted read scheme to reduce the reads to duplicate data. When an L2 cache miss wants to read the duplicate block, if the reference block has been fetched to L2 and it is clean, we can copy it to the L2 missed block without accessing off-chip DRAM. As for the reads to intra-dup data, CMD uses the on-chip metadata cache to get the data. (3) When a cache line is evicted, the clean sectors in the line are invalidated while the dirty sectors are written back. However, most read-only victims are re-referenced from DRAM more than twice. Therefore, we add a full-associate FIFO to accommodate the read-only (it is also clean) victims to reduce the re-reference counts. Experiments show that CMD can decrease the off-chip accesses by 31.01%, reduce the energy by 32.78% and improve performance by 37.79%. In this research, we tackled the complex task of aligning audio and lyrics content automatically. This task entails the precise matching of lyrics with the corresponding audio segments in songs, necessitating the coordination of two distinct modalities: text and audio. To surmount this challenge, we employed a contrastive learning approach that generates cross-modal embeddings capable of establishing connections between the audio and text domains. Furthermore, we adopted a hierarchical and cascading design. Initially, the system predicts synchronization at the sentence level and subsequently refines the alignment at the word level. This design equips the system to handle extended sequences effectively, as cross-correlations leverage secondary memory that corresponds to sequence length. Through this innovative approach, we developed a trainable end-to-end system that can harness weakly annotated training data, concurrently learning a robust text model optimized for alignment tasks. Our experiments demonstrated substantial enhancements in average alignment accuracy when utilizing our proposed system, underscoring its robustness compared to previous state-of-the-art models. © 2023 IEEE.

Explainable recommendation systems, which can produce high-accuracy recommendations and help users make quick decisions, have become a hotspot in research field. Most of existing research algorithms committed to improving the accuracy of recommendation, but ignored the interpretability of recommendation. We propose a semantic recommendation algorithm through Reinforcement Learning and weighted meta-paths which analyzes and selects the meta-path, and uses Reinforcement Learning network to train the weight of meta-path. This method can effectively solve data sparsity, improve the accuracy of recommendation, and increase interpretability. Compared with the baseline method, indicators of the recommended methods for integrating Reinforcement Learning with Heterogeneous Information Networks have been greatly improved, as verified and compared on a real MovieLens 1M dataset. Experimental results prove that the algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy and interpretability of the recommendation. © 2022 SPIE.

In this paper, we present a new approach to estimate the pose of an object being manipulated by a multi-fingered robotic hand. The method utilizes advanced tactile sensors with high spatial resolution to optimize the estimation of the object's pose using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) based approach. We defined and derived the state and measurement equations, as well as evaluated the estimation accuracy in grasping tasks. The approach is able to effectively account for the pose transition caused by tactile pushing, and the mapping from the object's pose to the contact position and normal direction as measured by the tactile sensor. The method was evaluated in multiple grasping experiments in simulation scenarios. Results show that the estimation can converge towards the ground truth in a relatively short period of time, with displacement and rotation errors remaining within acceptable levels. This new method has the potential to improve the accuracy and reliability of robotic grasping and manipulation tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation system (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance. © 2023 IEEE.
