Adaptive pelican optimization with optimized mask RCNN for automatic lung cancer detection

Lung cancer is a prevalent and deadly disease worldwide, necessitating accurate and timely detection methods for effective treatment. Deep learning-based approaches have emerged as promising solutions for automated medical image analysis. This study proposes an enhanced Mask R-CNN framework tailored specifically for the automatic detection and severity analysis of lung cancer from CT images. The proposed approach consists of three stages namely, pre-processing, lung nodule detection, and segmentation using enhanced Mask R-CNN and severity analysis. Our framework employs a deep convolutional neural network architecture trained on a comprehensive dataset of annotated lung images. By incorporating a region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) with a mask prediction branch, our model accurately localizes lung tumors while providing precise pixel-level segmentation masks. To enhance the performance of mask RCNN, the parameter present in the classifier is optimally selected using the adaptive pelican optimization (APO) algorithm. The proposed framework detects lung tumors and provides a comprehensive severity analysis, enabling clinicians to assess cancer stage and progression accurately. Evaluation on a benchmark dataset demonstrates superior detection accuracy and robustness compared to existing methods. Our enhanced Mask R-CNN approach shows promise as a valuable tool for early diagnosis and severity assessment of lung cancer, potentially improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Solar flares are one of the strongest outbursts of solar activity,posing a serious threat to Earth’s critical infrastructure,such as communications,navigation,power,and ***,it is essential to accurately predict solar flares in order to ensure the safety of human ***,the research focuses on two directions:first,identifying predictors with more physical information and higher prediction accuracy,and second,building flare prediction models that can effectively handle complex observational *** terms of flare observability and predictability,this paper analyses multiple dimensions of solar flare observability and evaluates the potential of observational parameters in *** flare prediction models,the paper focuses on data-driven models and physical models,with an emphasis on the advantages of deep learning techniques in dealing with complex and high-dimensional *** reviewing existing traditional machine learning,deep learning,and fusion methods,the key roles of these techniques in improving prediction accuracy and efficiency are *** prevailing challenges,this study discusses the main challenges currently faced in solar flare prediction,such as the complexity of flare samples,the multimodality of observational data,and the interpretability of *** conclusion summarizes these findings and proposes future research directions and potential technology advancement.

Advancing emotion recognition via EEG signals using a deep learning approach with ensemble model

Human emotions are the mind's responses to external stimuli, and due to their dynamic and unpredictable nature, research in this field has become increasingly important. There is a growing trend in utilizing deep learning and machine learning techniques for emotion recognition through EEG (electroencephalogram) signals. This paper presents an investigation based on a real-time dataset that comprises 15 subjects, consisting of 7 males and 8 females. The EEG signals of these subjects were recorded during exposure to video stimuli. The collected real-time data underwent preprocessing, followed by the extraction of features using various methods tailored for this purpose. The study includes an evaluation of model performance by comparing the accuracy and loss metrics between models applied to both raw and preprocessed data. The paper introduces the EEGEM (Electroencephalogram Ensemble Model), which represents an ensemble model combining LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) and CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) to achieve the desired outcomes. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the EEGEM model, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of 95.56%. This model has proven to surpass the performance of other established machine learning and deep learning techniques in the field of emotion recognition, making it a promising and superior tool for this application. © 2024 - IOS Press. The identification of objects that blend in with their surroundings has long been a concern in fields including defence, wildlife monitoring, and surveillance due to the difficulty of detecting such objects. This finding is significant because it could greatly enhance our capacity to detect camouflaged objects, transforming the field of real-time object detection. Existing image processing methods often fail miserably when adequately capturing this aspect. This dissertation's primary focus is identifying devices with complicated patterns, legacy interference, and inadequate contrast;nonetheless, in disguised scenarios, all of these features cause identification to be unsuccessful. This research often suggests a new approach called the Linear Edge Detecting Scheme for Camouflaged Object Detection (LEDS-COD) in these difficult cases. The LEDS-COD system can enhance item visibility in low-comparison settings by highlighting critical edges and descriptions. Pattern differentiation methodologies and modern facility-side recognition techniques are combined to accomplish this goal. The approach successfully differentiated items because it zeroed in on texture and comparative details that would otherwise go unnoticed by humans or advanced algorithms. LEDS-COD is useful in many areas, including the Navy, autonomous surveillance systems, and animal protection, where the real-time identification of hidden devices is essential. Results from a simulation study using various datasets, including concealed objects, show that LEDS-COD surpasses conventional detection methods in recognition accuracy, processing speed, and perseverance. The recommended technique exceeded the requirements for obtaining improved object detection estimates for challenging conditions like those with complex backdrops and changing illumination. According to this study, LEDS-COD can be devastating in improving real-time camouflage detection. © 2024 IEEE.

With the growth of large-scale text datasets from reviews, social media, and other online sources, sentiment analysis is essential for understanding public opinion. Traditional models struggle to understand complicated linguistic sentiments and interdependencies. This research could improve sentiment classification in customer feedback analysis, market sentiment predictions, and social media monitoring. Addressed issues include ambiguous language, sentence context flipping, and the need for robust models that can manage massive datasets. Contextual Detection Text Analysis Using Deep Learning (CDTA-DL) improves contextual knowledge and emotion identification in this research. RNNs and CNNs are used in the CDTA-DL approach to extract spatial and sequential information from text. CDTA-DL helps large-scale sentiment analysis detect sarcasm, implicit emotions, and many expressions. In a comprehensive simulation investigation employing open-access sentiment analysis datasets, CDTA-DL surpassed standard deep learning models in accuracy, recall, and F1 scores. The recommended strategy may increase emotion recognition and contextual understanding, making it ideal for large-scale sentiment analysis in various domains. © 2024 IEEE.

A complicated neuro-developmental disorder called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is abnormal activities related to brain development. ASD generally affects the physical impression of the face as well as the growth of the brain in children. An early and proper medical diagnosis is essential for ASD affected children to enhance their quality of life. However, the clinical detection of ASD is a difficult task and time-consuming, hence it is essential to design an ASD detection approach for precise diagnosis of ASD children. In this research, an algorithmic approach called Fractional Tasmanian Rat Swarm Optimization driven SqueezeNet (FTRSO-SqueezeNet) is designed for the detection of ASD. The median filter and Region of Interest (RoI) extraction are used to de-noise the input image initially and extract a particular region from the filtered image. Later, the nub regions are extracted by choosing the optimal grid from the pre-processed image and using different feature extractors the features from the input images are determined. Finally, the detection of ASD is done by using SqueezeNet, which is trained using the FTRSO approach. The performance of the method is estimated, where the designed model achieved higher performance with an accuracy of 94.55%, sensitivity of 92.53%, and specificity of 95.22% than other prevailing approaches. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Bot detection is considered a crucial security issue that is extensively analysed in various existingapproaches. Machine Learning is an efficient way of botnet attack detection. Bot detectionis the major issue faced by the existing system. This research concentrates on adopting a graphbasedfeature learning process to reduce feature dimensionality. The incoming samples arecorrectly classified and optimised using an Adaboost classifier with an improved grey wolfoptimiser (g-AGWO). The proposed IGWO optimisation approach is adopted to fulfil the multiconstraintissues related to bot detection and provide better local and global solutions (to satisfyexploration and exploitation). The extensive results show that the proposed g-AGWO model outperformsexisting approaches to reduce feature dimensionality, under-fitting/over-fitting andexecution time. The error rate prediction shows the feasibility of the given model to work over thechallenging environment. This model also works efficiently towards the unseen data to achievebetter generalization.

Boosting cervical cancer detection with a multi-stage architecture and complementary information fusion

Cervical cancer is one of the most fatal and prevalent illnesses affecting women globally. Early detection of cervical cancer is crucial for effective treatment. Pap smear tests are commonly used, but population-based screening is time-consuming, expensive, and requires expert physicians. computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) has shown promise in addressing this challenge. However, accurately predicting the disease using a single model can be difficult due to the complex data patterns involved. This research proposes a multi-stage architecture to improve cervical cancer screening. Initially, three pre-trained models are employed for image classification, after which the proposed advanced fusion technique is applied to combine the predictions. Additionally, we introduce a filtering approach in the third stage to refine the predictions. Unlike traditional fusion methods, the proposed architecture considers the confidence score of the base classifiers in making the final predictions on test samples. To enhance the performance of the models, we incorporate advanced augmentation techniques, including CutMix, CutOut, and MixUp. We assessed the performance of the proposed framework using a 5-fold cross-validation technique on two benchmark datasets. We evaluated the performance of the proposed framework through 5-fold cross-validation on two benchmark datasets. Remarkably, our framework achieved a classification accuracy of 97.62% and an F1-score of 97.64% on the SIPaKMeD dataset, demonstrating its effectiveness in accurately categorizing various cell types in the dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has developed into a crucial component for meeting the connection needs of the current smart healthcare systems. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) consists of medical devices that are connected to patients in order to sense their medical parameters and exchange that information with healthcare professionals so they can deliver remote healthcare services. The need to protect the patient’s private information from being misused makes IoMT security an urgent issue that merits further study. Elliptic Curve cryptography (ECC), a popular substitute for traditional public key encryption like RSA, has several advantages. ECC is a prime contender for implementation on constrained devices with confined memory and speed, as well as wireless communication protocols that use low power like IoMT environment. The economic complexity of the current security protocols makes them inappropriate, hence new security protocols must be developed for resource-constrained and diverse IoT networks. This work suggests an authenticated key agreement protocol for the IoMT that is based on elliptic curve encryption based zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) protocols. The proposed mechanism completes in order of milliseconds up to 300 ms for 160 bits. The research will include the comparison between computational delays in traditional protocols and ZKP-ECC protocol. This paper provides a protocol to obtain privacy of data in IoMT environment on the basis of zero knowledge phenomenon and anonymous communication by ZKP-ECC. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Unusual crowd analysis is an important problem in surveillance video due to their features cannot be extracted efficiently on the crowd scenes. To overcome this challenge, this paper introduced the appearance and motion based unusual events detection method by using multiple moving objects. This method includes appearance and motion based computation, and moving objects trajectory analysis. By using these all techniques, the unusual crowds and their activities can be obtained by analyzing moving objects size and the distance among multiple moving objects. Two benchmark datasets such as PETS 2009 and UMN are used for the experimental results. Also, several existing algorithms are compared with the proposed method to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed work.
