Improving Maritime Data: A Machine Learning-based Model for Missing Vessel Trajectories Reconstruction

Advancements in maritime satellite technology have significantly impacted the maritime industry, enhancing both communication and safety at sea. These technological improvements have enabled Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) to transmit data through robust maritime communication networks. However, despite these advancements, AIS data often contain significant missing data due to limitations in both devices and network coverage. To overcome these limitations, this research presents an innovative approach for reconstructing missing points. In this paper, we first extracted the geometric shape and motion characteristics of vessels and constructed a decision tree using an adaptive sparse constraint mechanism to classify four types of vessel trajectories. Then, the vessel classification findings serve as input and the vessel acceleration features are constructed using the heading and velocity features of the trajectories at both ends. Finally, We employ a bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU) network to simultaneously train on historical trajectory data. The method progressively shortens the reconstructed trajectory, thereby enhancing the accuracy of the reconstruction. In this paper, comparative experiments are conducted with several algorithms across various dimensions, including algorithm performance, trajectory types, and navigation scenarios. It is indicated by the experimental results that the algorithm discussed in this study outperforms baselines. Significant methodological advancements in vessel trajectory reconstruction are represented by this study, which also shows promising potential for application in intelligent maritime transportation systems. © 1967-2012 IEEE All rights reserved.

A lightweight approach for intrusion detection in WSNs based on DCGAN

Ensuring strong security procedures is crucial in the rapidly advancing realm of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in order to protect sensitive data and preserve network integrity. The resource limitations and unpredictable environments that characterize WSNs frequently provide challenges for traditional intrusion detection systems (IDS). To overcome these issues, this research introduces a unique lightweight intrusion detection system that utilizes Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks (DCGAN). The proposed system employs wireless sensor network blackhole flooding selective forwarding (WSN-BFSF) dataset for training and evaluation. The suggested approach improves the IDS’s detection capabilities in addition to reducing computing overhead. The findings show that the lightweight DCGAN-based IDS provides an improved defense against new security threats, making it a good fit for real-time deployment in WSNs. Here, the performance metrics like receiver operating characteristic (ROC) is evaluated to check the efficiency of the model. The proposed model is assessed with the existing studies based on metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall and f1-score. The results show that the proposed approach attains the highest accuracy (94%) thus outperforming the existing methods and studies. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Robust Deep Convolutional Solutions for Identifying Biotic Crop Stress in Wild Environments

In the realm of agricultural automation, the precise identification of crop stress holds immense significance for enhancing crop productivity. Existing methods primarily focus on controlled environments, which may not accurately reflect field conditions. Field-based leaf image analysis poses challenges due to varying image quality and sunlight intensity. Moreover, the complexity of crop stress images, with their random lesion distribution, diverse symptoms, and complex backgrounds, further complicates the analysis. To overcome these limitations, a lightweight hybrid convolutional neural network has been developed. This system integrates the powerful three-deep blocks model with an autoencoder running in parallel to highlight regions of crop stress effectively. To support this approach, we have introduced the Indian Rice Disease Dataset (IRDD) with labeled images. The proposed system reports an average true positive rate (TPR) of 0.8766 and an average positive predicted value of 0.8720 on IRDD, which are higher than other state-of-the-art crop disease detection models. The system is validated on benchmark datasets, yielding significant results: TPR of 0.9870 (rice), 0.9985 (tomato), and 0.8559 (corn). Furthermore, the proposed model outperforms recent state-of-the-art works on the benchmark PlantDoc dataset, showing its effectiveness in generalizing plant disease identification tasks. Finally, an ablation study has been carried out to explore the importance of the two parallel branches. Overall, this study acts as a bridge between advanced science and practical application, showcasing how interdisciplinary automation could revolutionize crop disease identification, improve agricultural efficiency, and reshape broader industrial practices. © 2024 IEEE.

In the rapidly advancing realm of healthcare, ensuring the well-being of critical care patients stands as a paramount mission. Various cutting-edge sensors are available in the market, proficient in monitoring vital health. A substantial number of healthcare facilities still rely on manual processes, a practice that is not only repetitive and labor-intensive but also fraught with the potential for human errors. This pressing need for immediate, accurate responses in the context of critical care has driven the development of a comprehensive solution. Our proposed system brings together security, data normalization, and efficient data exchange, underpinned by a unified approach. Security, a cornerstone of healthcare, finds its realization in the implementation of JSON Web Tokens (JWT). This technology ensures the privacy and integrity of communication between healthcare entities. Crucial patient data, including personal particulars, lifeline parameters, and historical records, is securely housed in a scalable and non-redundant Postgres SQL database. In emergencies, time is of the essence. To expedite responses, an innovative tagged QR code technique is introduced. The unified approach doesn't simply prioritize security;it underscores the significance of data standardization and efficient data exchange. A robust security framework has been meticulously designed to protect sensitive patient information, minimize the risk of data breaches, and prevent unauthorized access. Furthermore, data normalization ensures that patient data is consistently structured and formatted, facilitating compatibility with diverse healthcare platforms and devices. Crop yield Prediction based on environmental, soil, water, and crop parameters has been an active area of research in agriculture. Many studies have shown that these parameters can have a significant impact on crop yields, and that accurate predictions of crop yields can be made by considering them together. Despite the progress made in crop yield prediction, several challenges still remain, such as the lack of high-quality and diverse data, the high cost of technology, and the lack of domain knowledge for certain crops and regions. Thus, Crop yield forecasting models can reasonably estimate yields, but better yield forecasting performance is still desirable. Thus, in order to enhance the accuracy of crop yield prediction in IoT, a novel optimization driven deep belief neural network model is developed in this study. IoT sensors can collect data on various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, as well as crop parameters such as growth stage and leaf area index. These data can then be used to train a proposed deep learning-based model, namely an optimization driven deep belief neural network (DBNN) along with an effective crocodile optimization algorithm, to predict crop yields. To improve the performance of DBNN, adaptive crocodile optimization (ACO) algorithm is used. Using this algorithm, weight parameters of DBNN are chosen optimally. Comparative Analysis of Machine Learning, Ensemble Learning and Deep Learning Classifiers for Parkinson’s Disease Detection

A progressive neurodegenerative ailment called Parkinson's disease (PD) is marked by the death of dopamine-producing cells in the substantia nigra area of the brain. The exact etiology of PD remains elusive, but it is believed to involve the presence of Lewy bodies, abnormal protein aggregates, in affected brain regions, leading to the mobile symptoms of PD. Hence, as the management of PD continues to evolve, there is a growing demand for the establishment of a descriptive system that enables the early detection of PD. In this study, we conducted an extensive analysis using machine learning, ensemble learning, and deep learning models with different hyperparameters to develop accurate classification models for PD prediction. To enhance classifier performance and address overfitting, we employed principal component analysis (PCA) for feature selection along with various preprocessing techniques. The dataset used consisted of voice samples, comprising 188 PD patients and 64 normal individuals. Our results demonstrated that the Random Forest (RF) model with accuracy of 82.37% outperformed the other base classifiers Among the ensemble classifiers, the LGBM model exhibited the highest accuracy of 85.90% when compared to both base and ensemble classifiers. Notably, the deep learning model has 91.33% training accuracy and 85.02% testing accuracy, suggesting that deep learning models perform comparably equivalent on small datasets compared to machine learning classifiers. Overall, our findings underscore the effectiveness of machine learning, ensemble techniques and deep learning models in accurately predicting PD. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Fake news, Fake certification, and Plagiarism are the most common issues arising these days. During this COVID-19 situation, there are a lot of rumors and fake news spreading and some of us are using fake certification to avoid vaccination and plagiarism became the most common topic during online studies. It is found that several apps and websites are present for the detection of false news and plagiarism. However, there is no single website for the detection of fake certificates. Moreover, nothing is made that consists of all these features in one platform. So, this proposed work develops a website for detecting fake news, Fake certificate, and plagiarism detector. The proposed method uses Natural Language Processing techniques for detecting NPC (news, plagiarism, and certificate). The proposed work uses image processing with some Python libraries like OpenCV in all the detections and that makes it quite interesting. For detecting NPC (news, plagiarism, and certificate) the algorithm is built using a k-mean model, logistic regression, and neural network. The proposed work uses the datasets that are trained using the count vectorizer method for the detection and to get its accuracy which will be tested using machine learning algorithms. Crop classification is essential for local and national governments to make informed agricultural decisions. Remote sensing technology has made it possible to employ high-resolution hyperspectral images (HSIs) for land cover classification for decades. Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) are becoming more popular for HSI categorization due to advances in processing capacity and technology. HSIs can accurately identify crop types due to their narrow and continuous spectral band reflection. This study compares traditional machine learning (ML) models like Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) to deep learning (DL) models like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) for hyperspectral image classification (HSI). The HSI categorization was evaluated using performance criteria such as accuracy, precision, recall, and the F1-Score. CNN achieved the highest accuracy of 96%, demonstrating that it is the most reliable solution for complex HSI classification tasks because it successfully captures spatial and spectral data. © 2025 IEEE.
