Smart Grids (SG) rely on Home Area Networks (HAN) and Neighborhood Area Networks (NAN) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol's resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol's effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol's enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

With the rapid development of Large Language Model (LLM) technology, it has become an indispensable force in biomedical data analysis research. However, biomedical researchers currently have limited knowledge about LLM. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a summary of LLM applications in biomedical data analysis. Herein, we propose this review by summarizing the latest research work on LLM in biomedicine. In this review, LLM techniques are first outlined. We then discuss biomedical datasets and frameworks for biomedical data analysis, followed by a detailed analysis of LLM applications in genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, radiomics, single-cell analysis, medical texts and drug discovery. Finally, the challenges of LLM in biomedical data analysis are discussed. In summary, this review is intended for researchers interested in LLM technology and aims to help them understand and apply LLM in biomedical data analysis research. © 2013 IEEE.

The need for a visual question answering framework in the era of Web 3.0 is realized by using staged addition of auxiliary knowledge in the perspective of two distinct datasets namely the dataset of documents and the images which is enriched through informative term extraction and further using structural topic modelling, Wikidata, NELL and Linked Open Data (LOD) Cloud, knowledge stores and tag generation to classify the dataset obtained informative terms. Subsequently, the image dataset terms are subjected to extraction of categories and labels to contribute to the informative terms. The random forest classifier at either ends of the two datasets helps in controlled classification of the datasets independently and assures computational inexpensiveness because of the lightweighted nature of the machine learning classifiers. The RNN to classify the tags helps in automatizing the exponentially generated tags and semantic network formulated helps in organizing the auxiliary knowledge. Semantic relevance computation using Jaccard Similarity, Morisitas Overlap Index, NPMI and SOC-PMI facilitates in semantic reasoning. The proposed VQARS model's achieves an overall precision of 94.81%;recall of 95.75%;average accuracy of 95.28%;F-measure of 95.28%;and the lowest FDR of 0.06. In comparison to the other baseline models, this model provides the best-in-class outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

SpliceMix: A Cross-scale and Semantic Blending Augmentation Strategy for Multi-label Image Classification

Recently, Mix-style data augmentation methods (e.g., Mixup and CutMix) have shown promising performance in various visual tasks. However, these methods are primarily designed for single-label images, ignoring the considerable discrepancies between single- and multi-label images, i.e., a multi-label image involves multiple co-occurred categories and fickle object scales. On the other hand, previous multi-label image classification (MLIC) methods tend to design elaborate models, bringing expensive computation. In this article, we introduce a simple but effective augmentation strategy for multi-label image classification, namely SpliceMix. The "splice"in our method is two-fold: 1) Each mixed image is a splice of several downsampled images in the form of a grid, where the semantics of images attending to mixing are blended without object deficiencies for alleviating co-occurred bias;2) We splice mixed images and the original mini-batch to form a new SpliceMixed mini-batch, which allows an image with different scales to contribute to training together. Furthermore, such splice in our SpliceMixed mini-batch enables interactions between mixed images and original regular images. We also provide a simple and non-parametric extension based on consistency learning (SpliceMix-CL) to show the potential of extending our SpliceMix. Extensive experiments on various tasks demonstrate that only using SpliceMix with a baseline model (e.g., ResNet) achieves better performance than state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, the generalizability of our SpliceMix is further validated by the improvements in current MLIC methods when married with our SpliceMix. Vanilla image completion approaches exhibit sensitivity to large missing regions, attributed to the limited availability of reference information for plausible generation. To mitigate this, existing methods incorporate the extra cue as a guidance for image completion. Despite improvements, these approaches are often restricted to employing a single modality (e.g., segmentation or sketch maps), which lacks scalability in leveraging multi-modality for more plausible completion. In this paper, we propose a novel, simple yet effective method for Multi-modal Guided Image Completion, dubbed MaGIC, which not only supports a wide range of single modality as the guidance (e.g., text, canny edge, sketch, segmentation, depth, and pose), but also adapts to arbitrarily customized combination of these modalities (i.e., arbitrary multi-modality) for image completion. For building MaGIC, we first introduce a modality-specific conditional U-Net (MCU-Net) that injects single-modal signals into a U-Net denoiser for single-modal guided image completion. Then, we devise a consistent modality blending (CMB) method to leverage modality signals encoded in multiple learned MCU-Nets through gradient guidance in latent space. Our CMB is training-free, thereby avoiding the cumbersome joint re-training of different modalities, which is the secret of MaGIC to achieve exceptional flexibility in accommodating new modalities for completion. In the evolving digital landscape, brand reputation is shaped significantly by customer sentiment across diverse platforms. For businesses in India, where multilingual interactions are common, capturing sentiment in regional languages like Tamil and Kannada is crucial. This paper presents Brand Sentiment, an aspect-based sentiment analysis model designed to evaluate customer feedback and online interactions in both Tamil and Kannada. Our approach blends ML and NLP methods to identify sentiment polarity on specific brand aspects, offering insights for strategic reputation management. We employ a multilingual dataset and fine-tune transformer models for precise sentiment classification. The results demonstrate high accuracy and efficiency in identifying sentiment trends, allowing businesses to make informed decisions to enhance their brand's reputation. This research fills a vacuum in regional language processing, which advances the rapidly expanding field of multilingual sentiment analysis., while also providing a scalable solution for Indian businesses. © 2024 IEEE.

The spotlight of our discussion here is on developing a model for detecting snakes present in the agricultural fields using cameras and machine learning algorithms. The idea is to construct a machine learning model to identify the snakes, which will be trained on a vast set of images of snakes. These images will be carefully selected to include the snake patterns, skin color of different species of snakes (extraction of the unique features). This is done to train the model properly to identify different types of snakes that the farmer encounters in the fields. Most famers are unaware and have a need for a way to detect these snakes so that they can either avoid them or get rid of them. Hence, this system can be implemented to prevent thousands of deaths and can help famers alleviate the repercussions of snake bites. Mistakes in recognizing potentially harmful animal species based only on visual cues are major contributors to the high death toll from venomous animal attacks. Since they spend so much time in the fields, where rice and wheat are cultivated, farmers are at a higher risk of being bitten by a snake than the general population. Because of their ignorance, illiterate farmers are more inclined to believe in superstitions, which can lead to their untimely deaths from snakebites despite medical intervention. Animals that would normally pose no threat to humans are responsible for the deaths of thousands of people every year because of environmental factors. However, because it is hard for humans to recognize these dangers, a new design paradigm has been developed to make it simpler. Researchers in the field of animal biology can use it to search for endangered species. Predators may enter gardens and green areas like tea and coffee plantations. There is not yet a plan in place to implement automated sorting for discovering distinctions. When it comes to natural language processing (NLP), sentence embedding is a hot topic because of the knowledge it transfers to subsequent tasks. Recent studies have shown that sequential neural networks, which can be trained on large quantities of data, can be used to encode info through a one-way analysis of text sequences, making them a powerful tool for drug detection. The purpose of this study is to smear cutting-edge deep learning techniques to publicly available data in order to accurately detect and identify adverse medication reactions that have not been recorded by medical professionals (open data). This study presents a deep learning-based strategy employing Enhanced Encoder on a dataset of 10,000 reviews culled from WebMD and *** and labelled by hand (IBERT). The model is created by integrating the BERT with many parallel blocks of a single-layer deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that use varying kernel sizes and filters. To deal with ambiguity, the biggest obstacle to NLP, such a combination is helpful. Cuckoo Search (CS) and Antlion Optimization (ALO) are coupled to create a hybrid optimization strategy for determining the best values for the proposed model's hyper-parameters. Results from a number of different classification methods demonstration that the suggested model meaningfully outdoes the state-of-The-Art models. © 2023 IEEE.

Speech recognition systems play an integral role in numerous applications, from virtual assistants to accessibility tools. This paper offers a new viewpoint to speech recognition utilizing computer vision and deep learning techniques. The proposed system is trained on a sizable dataset comprising 700 video clips of individuals uttering predefined words, add up to approximately 3 GB of data. Leveraging TensorFlow and Keras, model architecture is designed incorporating convolutional and dense layers. The training process yielded promising results, with a training accuracy of 95.7% and a validation accuracy of 98.5%, indicative of robust classification performance. The integration of computer vision enriches the system's ability to extract meaningful features from audio-visual inputs, enhancing its overall recognition accuracy. Proposed method demonstrates significant potential for real-time speech recognition applications in different areas, like human-computer interaction and assistive technologies. © 2024 IEEE.
