Moving towards smart transportation heavily depends on the state-of-the-art collision avoidance system. Intersections and inattention of drivers cause accidents. The latest vehicles have an inbuilt collision avoidance system, however, implementing it on existing vehicles is not practical as it requires hardware and sensors. Due to non-practicality and the cost incurred for the installation, existing vehicles will be far away to set up this kind of system. In this article, we propose and develop a technique based on combined Haversine and Vincenty's formulae for collision avoidance systems to detect and warn the driver of the possibility of a collision. Our technique is incorporated into a mobile application and can be easily installed on users' mobile. Our proposed work measures vehicle coordinates and distance between the vehicles. The prototype app warns by beeping if any other vehicle approaches around the vehicle at high speed. Further, the app data can be used to analyze the traffic and accordingly, drivers can decide on which road to reach in a minimal time. It also warns any vehicles coming from sides in intersections or lanes. Without additional cost for hardware devices, the existing vehicles can make use of this smart solution for vehicle collision avoidance. © 2024 IEEE.

Global emissions have been on the rise since the industrial era because of the increased energy-intensive human activities, which is a direct cause of global warming and climate change. Of the total emissions, around 17% is from the transportation sector, which significantly contributes to the emissions. One of the easiest ways to be more sustainable is to choose electric vehicles instead of Internal combustion engines. Almost 75% of the vehicles registered in India are two-wheelers, but there are no affordable and reliable electric two-wheelers. This research works to optimize and analyze the design of a step-through frame design for an electric bicycle. The frame design is analyzed by providing boundary and loading conditions with two different materials (Steel-AISI4130 and Aluminum AL6061). The numerical analysis is carried out using ANSYS APDL. The result of von Mises’ stress is 166 MPa and 160.4 MPa for steel and aluminum, respectively. The growing danger of coastal pollution requires novel, automated remediation methods. This paper proposes combining autonomous robots with sophisticated sensor technologies and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based data analytics system to clean up coastal areas. The robots autonomously cruise coastal settings, discover and categories marine waste using onboard sensors, and send data to a cloud-based infrastructure for analysis. The proposed method relies on CNN, a deep learning model known for image recognition. For reliable identification and classification, CNN is trained on a broad collection of marine waste images. The cloud-based data analytics platform receives, processes, and stores cleaning robot data. It handles massive datasets effectively using cloud computing scalability and processing power. The technology uses real-time cloud image processing to identify garbage and enable robots to adjust their cleaning tactics. The data analytics platform generates detailed reports and visualizations to analyze cleaning efficiency and environmental effect. It advances automated coastal cleaning technology by integrating advanced robotics, sensor technologies, and deep learning. The proposed approach improves coastal cleaning speed, accuracy, and flexibility to protect marine habitats and biodiversity. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless networks are highly utilized, especially Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) for real-time data transmission. However, current routing protocols for MANETs face challenges that limit their effectiveness. Design issues include minimizing energy usage and ensuring node security. A commonly used routing protocol, AODV, involves periodic broadcasting of hello messages to monitor link connectivity and maintain routing tables. When link failure occurs due to node mobility, hello messages are broadcasted more frequently, which consumes more node energy and increases network overhead. To address this issue, this research proposes an Enhanced Humpback Whales Optimized Routing Approach (EHWORA) that calculates an optimal hello interval based on a node's energy and mobility using an adaptive fuzzy inference system. This approach involves optimizing the hello interval of AODV routing through the use of an adaptive fuzzy inference system. Each node can dynamically adjust the transmission of hello messages based on the fuzzy-based hello interval. Simulation results demonstrate that ORA reduces network overhead, end-to-end delay, hello message fraction, average energy consumption, packet delivery ratio, and improves throughput compared to a recent method. The proposed protocol is evaluated using MATLAB software. To assess the validity of the research, we utilized MATLAB software to compare the proposed method with a recent approach. During the simulation, the proposed protocol depleted the energy of 3 nodes after 10 seconds, 5 nodes after 20 seconds, 9 nodes after 30 seconds, 11 nodes after 40 seconds, and 13 nodes after 50 seconds, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Mobile Crowdsensing (MCS) has emerged as a compelling paradigm for data sensing and collection, leveraging the widespread adoption of mobile devices and the active participation of numerous users. Despite its potential, MCS faces critical challenges, particularly in recruiting reliable workers and acquiring high-quality sensing data. Most existing approaches assume prior information on worker quality and are vulnerable to collusion attacks, especially having not comprehensively considered workers’ reliability and stability. To address these problems, we propose a Multi-Armed Bandit (MAB) based Worker Recruitment Scheme (MWRS) integrated with the Tripartite Stackelberg Game (TSG) for MCS. Specifically, a trust evaluation and truth inference mechanism is introduced to assess the trustworthiness of workers through active truth detection. To enhance recruitment quality, we employ a trust-aware worker selection mechanism that utilizes a modified Upper Confidence Bound (UCB) algorithm, achieving an optimal balance between exploration and exploitation. Furthermore, the interactions among participants are modeled using a TSG framework, which formulates their respective payoffs to determine optimal decision-making strategies, thus achieving mutually beneficial outcomes. Extensive evaluations on real-world datasets demonstrate that our proposed scheme improves total quality by up to 30.8% and reduces regret by up to 80.3% compared to existing methods. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the blood glucose levels in the human body exceed the normal range. If left untreated, diabetes can lead to various health complications. To prevent such complications, early detection and management of diabetes are crucial. In this study, a novel system is proposed that uses hyperparameter tuning in addition to various machine learning algorithms for early detection of diabetes. This article also tunes the hyperparameters of the algorithms to optimize their performance. The results indicate that the Support Vector Machine algorithm provides the best fit for predicting diabetes. Hyperparameter tuning further improves the performance of this algorithm. Our approach can be used as a decision support tool for healthcare professionals to identify high-risk patients early on and provide appropriate care and management. Our study highlights the potential of machine learning algorithms and hyperparameter tuning for developing accurate and reliable predictive models for diabetes in expecting mothers. These models can aid healthcare professionals in taking preventive measures to improve maternal and child health outcomes. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart grids are electricity network that can help improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of the power grid. With a shift from the regular in-class education to e-learning-based education, there is a need to have the right platform to conduct assessments and courses in a more effective and user-friendly manner which includes robust monitoring, capability of doubt clearing, easy sharing of reference materials and more. There is a need for a highly customizable lab which supports all languages and is very lightweight. Our solution focuses on the creation of a robust, lightweight lab that provides a plug-and-play model for on-demand compilation capabilities. This virtual lab is hosted on the in-house blade servers and virtualized using metal-as-a-service (maas) along with juju controller. Kubernetes is used for on-demand compilation support as well as serves as the load balancer for the servers. The lab is specific to computer science-related courses and aims to impact the students present in the low bandwidth and rural areas. Moreover, the proposed methodology enhances the capabilities of the institutions to utilize their resources to the fullest with the help of virtualization through maas, juju and open-stack and orchestration through Kubernetes. © 2023 The Author(s). This research proposes a novel access management scheme that enables the seamless migration of hierarchical-like access policies to digital platforms. The work’s main objective is to transform any public cloud system into a private cloud with enhanced security features. Specifically, this focus is on addressing the needs of data owners who consist of multiple organizational units. This presents a secure approach that allows each user within the entity to access the public cloud securely whether they are within or outside the company’s network. In this, the key access control scheme is based on the polynomial interpolation method and Shamir’s secret sharing algorithm. It provides a safe, elastic then ranked entree apparatus, which is particularly suitable for organizations with a hierarchical structure and mission critical data. Our scheme ensures that only authorized users with sufficient privileges contain an admission of the key by leveraging the topologic gathering of a focused diagram, counting self-loops. This work has reduced the primary expenses by way of the community besides isolated packing requirements to a manageable equal while maintaining computational efficiency during key derivation. Furthermore, this scheme is resilient toward partnership occurrences and offers significant detectable safety. The ICS protocols undertake critical functions in industrial control systems, by enabling real-time data exchange, data acquisition, parameter configuration, status monitoring, fault diagnosis, command issuance and execution. It serves as the foundation for the collaborative operations of all components in industrial control systems. With the development of internet technology, industrial control systems, which were originally physically isolated, have become new targets for hackers. However, due to the high level of privatization of ICS protocols and their complex workflow, existing methods are insufficient in detecting vulnerabilities in these protocols. This paper proposes a black-box fuzzing test method based on sensing the program runtime feedback. By collecting run-time statistics, including CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk I/O, and message interaction, our method is able to determine whether the program has triggered a new execution path, thus improving the efficiency of the fuzzing procedure. We evaluated our prototype on five open-source ICS protocol programs and discovered six reported vulnerabilities, among which five could cause the industrial control programs to become unresponsive or crash. © 2023 IEEE.
