This research aimed to develop a 3D Faster-R-CNN model for detecting dental restorations and treatments in panoramic view radiographs and dental intra-oral X-rays. Trained on a comprehensive collection of 2D and 3D dental X-ray images, it marked a notable advancement. Utilizing the 3D TeethSeg 2022 MICCA dataset, the model demonstrated its ability to automatically detect and classify dental features, including challenging traits like cavity spots and tooth cracks. The study addressed the limitations of current methods for analyzing dental X-rays, especially in 3D format. While existing 2D models have some recognition capabilities, they struggle with 3D data intricacies. Moreover, dedicated 3D models for dental applications are lacking. This proposed model introduced a novel approach tailored for 3D dental image analysis, aiming to fill this gap. The model played a vital role in assisting dentists by identifying restorative and treatment needs for each tooth or patient, significantly enhancing dental care quality and efficiency. It showcased notable performance metrics: an accuracy of 89.14%, a precision of 95.84%, and a recall of 91.93%. Through advanced data augmentation and meticulous model training, it represented a significant advancement in detecting and classifying dental interventions, offering a comprehensive approach to dental image analysis. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Federated Learning, a disruptive and novel aspect of machine learning, is at the forefront of decentralized, privacy-conscious data processing. This in-depth review study navigates the complex environment of Federated Learning Ecosystems, attempting to extract the core of the topic while shining light on its research horizons, pressing difficulties, and promising approaches. Our trip begins with a look at the fundamental concepts of Federated Learning, emphasizing its importance in the landscape of distributed machine learning paradigms. We track its development via historical milestones and key contributions, offering context for the field's increasing research. This study focuses on the many features of Federated Learning research, including privacy-preserving techniques, communication protocols, aggregation approaches, and real-world applications. We aggregate major results and advances within these domains, highlighting notable authors and their contributions. However, the route to Federated Learning's full fulfillment is plagued with difficulties, including questions about privacy, communication efficiency, and scalability. In the future, we will enlighten the growing paths of Federated Learning research, forecasting trends, providing insights into overcoming present problems, and visualizing its integration into diverse fields. To summarize, this review article serves as a guidepost for scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts wanting to understand the vast domain of Federated Learning. The success of deep learning in a variety of fields has spurred a rush of desire to develop new novel recommender systems. As a result, our research introduces new RecDNNing, a ground-breaking technique that combines integrated people and products with a deep learning model. There are two phases to the suggested suggestion method. We begin by constructing a unique mathematical version for each human and item, which we refer to as user and item embedding. The embeddings of the goods and users then are aggregated, concatenated, and sent into the deep learning model. In the second phase, the spliced people and items implants are utilised as sources, and the ratings scores are forecasted using the forward propagation technique. The suggested new RecDNNing algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art techniques on MovieLens, according to the results. © 2023 IEEE.

In precision agriculture, it is crucial to have a reliable system for identifying diseases and suggesting measures to maintain crop health and enhance yield performance. Addressing the persistent challenge of accurate and timely identification of plant illnesses, this study introduces a new understanding of the approach utilizing the Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture. Leveraging a diverse dataset encompassing both diseased and healthy plant images, the ViT model demonstrates efficacy by achieving an precision of 94% in recognizing and categorizing diseases based on plant leaves. The success of this transformer-based methodology underscores its potential to significantly enhance the field of agricultural diagnostics, offering a promising solution to improve crop management practices and mitigate potential losses in yield. © 2024 IEEE.

Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and its variants exhibit immense potential in tackling combinatorial optimization challenges. However, their practical realization confronts a dilemma: the requisite circuit depth for satisfactory performance is problem-specific and often exceeds the maximum capability of current quantum devices. To address this dilemma, here we first analyze the convergence behavior of QAOA, uncovering the origins of this dilemma and elucidating the intricate relationship between the employed mixer Hamiltonian, the specific problem at hand, and the permissible maximum circuit depth. Harnessing this understanding, we introduce the Mixer Generator Network (MG-Net), a unified deep learning framework adept at dynamically formulating optimal mixer Hamiltonians tailored to distinct tasks and circuit depths. Systematic simulations, encompassing Ising models and weighted Max-Cut instances with up to 64 qubits, substantiate our theoretical findings, highlighting MG-Net's superior performance in terms of both approximation ratio and efficiency. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. The medical context for a drug indication provides crucial information on how the drug can be used in practice. However, the extraction of medical context from drug indications remains poorly explored, as most research concentrates on the recognition of medications and associated diseases. Indeed, most databases cataloging drug indications do not contain their medical context in a machine-readable format. This paper proposes the use of a large language model for constructing DIAMOND-KG, a knowledge graph of drug indications and their medical context. The study 1) examines the change in accuracy and precision in providing additional instruction to the language model, 2) estimates the prevalence of medical context in drug indications, and 3) assesses the quality of DIAMOND-KG against NeuroDKG, a small manually curated knowledge graph. The results reveal that more elaborated prompts improve the quality of extraction of medical context;71% of indications had at least one medical context;63.52% of extracted medical contexts correspond to those identified in NeuroDKG. This paper demonstrates the utility of using large language models for specialized knowledge extraction, with a particular focus on extracting drug indications and their medical context. We provide DIAMOND-KG as a FAIR RDF graph supported with an ontology. Openly accessible, DIAMOND-KG may be useful for downstream tasks such as semantic query answering, recommendation engines, and drug repositioning research. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Accelerating Blockchain-Enabled Federated Learning with Clustered Clients

With the rapid development of big data, Federated learning (FL) has found numerous applications, enabling machine learning (ML) on edge devices while preserving privacy. However, FL still faces crucial challenges, such as single point of failure and poisoning attacks, which motivate the integration of blockchain-enabled FL (BeFL). Beyond that, the efficiency issue still limits the further application of BeFL. To address these issues, we propose a novel decentralized framework: Accelerating Blockchain-Enabled Federated Learning with Clustered Clients (ABFLCC), who utilize actual training time for clustering clients to achieve hierarchical FL and solve the single point of failure problem through blockchain. Additionally, the framework clusters edge devices considering their actual training times, which allows for synchronous FL within clusters and asynchronous FL across clusters simultaneously. This approach guarantees that devices with a similar training time have a consistent global model version, improving the stability of the converging process, while the asynchronous learning between clusters enhances the efficiency of convergence. The proposed framework is evaluated through simulations on three real-world public datasets, demonstrating a training efficiency improvement of 30% to 70% in terms of convergence time compared to existing BeFL systems. Breast and cervical cancers account for more than 85 percent of all cancer-related fatalities in developing nations, according to the World Cancer Research Fund. As a result, breast and cervical cancer have become one of the leading causes of mortality among women worldwide. This field is still in its infancy, with only a few studies in gynaecology and computer science looking into the detection of breast and cervical cancer. According to the researchers, medical records and early testing from individuals with breast and cervical cancer will be used in this study to determine the prognosis of those suffering from the diseases. To assess our cervical cancer predictions, we employed machine learning models such as Optimized Hybrid Ensemble Classifier (OHEC), which were trained on patient behavior and variables revealed to be associated with patient behavior. The datasets in this study have a substantial number of missing values, and the distribution of those values has been altered as a function of the missing values. OHEC classifier performance has been shown to improve when the number of features is reduced and the problem of high-class imbalance is resolved, because the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the classifier, as well as the number of false positives, were used to demonstrate the success of feature selection in the suggested model's predictive analysis. This has been demonstrated through the use of numerous tests involving categorization challenges. The study underscores the critical significance of early detection and prognosis in combating breast and cervical cancers, which remain leading causes of mortality worldwide. Through the utilization of machine learning models like the OHEC, the authors have demonstrated the potential for improved predictive accuracy and clinical outcomes.
