PKEST: Public-Key Encryption With Similarity Test for Medical Consortia Cloud Computing

Cloud computing eliminates the limitations of local hardware architecture while also enabling rapid data sharing between healthcare institutions. Encryption of electronic medical records (EMRs) before uploading to cloud servers is necessary for privacy. However, encryption brings challenges for computation. Public Key Encryption with Equality Test (PKEET) allows cloud servers to test the underlying message equality without decryption. Therefore, it can be used to classify the encrypted EMRs corresponding to different medical symptoms. However, traditional PKEETs have limitations in testing the similarity between the ciphertexts. Undoubtedly, it can not handle EMR classification with similar medical symptoms efficiently. In this work, we propose a lightweight public key encryption with similarity test (PKEST) for the EMR classification shared in medical consortia. Our scheme can resist offline message recovery attacks, which may be launched by the insider manager, and the traditional paring computation is not necessary. Our experiment simulation shows that the similarity error between ciphertext and plaintext is tiny when the parameters are set properly. Compared to previous works, our scheme not only achieves the classification of similar encrypted EMRs but is also more efficient than traditional PKEETs since our construction does not need paring computation anymore. © 2013 IEEE.

The use of cutting-edge technology in the medical field results in the production of massive volumes of data on a daily basis. Various categories of information are applied in the domain of healthcare, including clinic information, medical record data, and genetic information. In addition, real-time monitoring in the medical industry produces enormous volumes of data, and properly interpreting such enormous amounts of data is a significant problem. The evaluation of medical information becomes more required so that suitable drugs may be supplied and issues can be avoided by taking appropriate measures depending on the history of the patient. Automation makes data analysis more effective, but performance might deteriorate when there are problems with data integrity, diversity, or consistency. Automation makes data analysis more effective. In order to handle the management of massive amounts of data, many models that are powered by neural networks have been developed;still researchers are currently attempting to develop a superior model that is more accurate. Hence, fuzzy c denotes the process of clustering, whereas generative adversarial networks are used in this study to clusters and classify medical data, aiming to achieve the maximum degree of efficiency in classification. The experiment will use both the benchmark lung cancer sample and the arrhythmias sample. The proposed model achieves a maximum accuracy of 97.3% for dataset 1 and 98.2% for dataset 2, outperforming other methods such as support vector machine, decision tree, and random forest algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

Graph pattern matching is a technique widely used in various fields such as protein structure analysis, social group querying, and expert localization. This technique involves finding matching subgraphs in large social networks that align with the patterns specified in the pattern graph. In this paper, we focus on a specific sub-problem in social group querying, known as the cooperative team query, which arises from practical applications, where the nodes in the pattern graph and the data graph represent team member entities, while the edges represent their social relationships. We note that the requirements of many teams in the real world are dynamic, necessitating iterative computation for graph pattern matching using traditional methods. To address this challenge in highly dynamic systems, we propose a graph pattern matching method based on core pattern graph matching cache. This approach involves extracting the core pattern graph, and comprising core team members based on the characteristics of cooperative teams. The core graph-based matching cache enables the second half of the algorithm to operate on an order-of-magnitude smaller graph, significantly improving efficiency. Additionally, the multi-threaded approach fully leverages hardware resources, synchronizing multiple matching result of the core pattern graph to reduce matching time. Experimental results on three real social network datasets demonstrate that our proposed algorithm, Core Pattern Graph Matching Cache-based Multi-threaded Exploration (CCMTE), significantly outperforms existing methods in terms of efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

The recently identified coronavirus is the source of the contagious sickness known as Covid-19. Most of the Covid-19 patients develop respiratory disorders that are recoverable since the infection is mild or moderate. But as the coronavirus has been thriving over the past three years uncontrollably, it has created new varied mutants, which has increased the fatality rate drastically and made it hard to be diagnosed on time. The proposed work suggests the analyzing of patient X-Ray as a more accurate step than the traditional swab test, in detecting the presence of the coronavirus through a mobile application. The infected person can get needed help on medication, treatment, hospitalization, etc. through the application. The application also marks the location of the Covid-19 infected persons using the geo-fencing visible to the other users in the same location that helps in avoiding contact with the infected. © 2024, CRC Press/Balkema. Lung cancer is one of the most deadly and ubiquitous forms of cancer globally. Early detection can make a significant difference in survival rates, prognosis, etc. Background The present study compares the performance of logistic regression and decision trees using a survey-based dataset for predicting lung cancer. This dataset has a total of 284 cases with 16 features;behavioral patterns, symptomatic data, and demographic details. Logistic regression is a binary classification algorithm that uses input features to model the probability of lung cancer presence given these input features using for example a sigmoid function. Using Decision Trees can identify significant fields in a dataset while reducing Gini Impurity for models that categorize patients based on feature values. The performance of both models is evaluated according to accuracy, F1-score, precision, and recall measures. From the preliminary results, it looks like the Decision Tree works a little better than the logistic regression model which gets an accuracy of 94%, but this one does with more accuracy (97%). This result emphasizes the inclusion of logistic regression within this context, as it may be able to predict lung cancer with greater accuracy. Additionally, to ensure the generalization and robustness of the model, further investigation and trials will focus on optimizing performance through ensemble approaches, hyperparameter tuning, and cross-validation. This comparative analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of machine learning techniques in developing prediction models for early lung cancer detection, an important step toward a quick and appropriate intervention. © 2024 IEEE.

The maximal coding rate reduction (MCR2) objective for learning structured and compact deep representations is drawing increasing attention, especially after its recent usage in the derivation of fully explainable and highly effective deep network architectures. However, it lacks a complete theoretical justification: only the properties of its global optima are known, and its global landscape has not been studied. In this work, we give a complete characterization of the properties of all its local and global optima, as well as other types of critical points. Specifically, we show that each (local or global) maximizer of the MCR2 problem corresponds to a low-dimensional, discriminative, and diverse representation, and furthermore, each critical point of the objective is either a local maximizer or a strict saddle point. Such a favorable landscape makes MCR2 a natural choice of objective for learning diverse and discriminative representations via first-order optimization methods. To validate our theoretical findings, we conduct extensive experiments on both synthetic and real data sets. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

The unpredictable nature of cryptocurrency markets, particularly Bitcoin, has attracted significant attention from investors, researchers, and financial institutions seeking to understand and predict price movements. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of both transparent and opaque machine learning algorithms in predicting Bitcoin prices. Transparent algorithms, such as linear regression and decision trees, provide clear insights into the factors influencing predictions. On the other hand, opaque algorithms, like ensemble methods, offer complex, non-linear models that may capture intricate patterns in the data. The main analysis is to lower the mean absolute error and enhance the r2 square, both key indicators of forecast accuracy. The study presents that linear regression and random forest outperformed others, achieving the smallest error and highest variance explanation, suggesting their effectiveness in Bitcoin price prediction with and without outliers respectively. In contrast, the support vector machine underperforms compared to all other machine learning algorithms under consideration. This paper sheds light on the most capable machine-learning techniques for Bitcoin forecasting, aiding trader investment choices and guiding academic study in the field of prediction. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2024.

Cybersecurity has become very important due the rapid growth of digital technologies. It plays an important role in protecting computer systems and networks from potential attacks. Cybersecurity involves a set of technologies and algorithms that sometimes bring in threats to the security of computer networks, the end system, attacks on data, inappropriate access, changes and harm. Cyber-defense mechanisms involved at the host, application, network and data level require a constantly improved process to secure the system from any feasible attack, targeting data security and privacy. The network anomaly detection is challenging because of the complex network topologies and high dimensional data, leading to unbalanced performance, high false positive rates and difficulty of handling time-series data. Deep Learning (DL) methods appear as an essential element in network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) to recognize malicious behaviors or anomalies. Anomaly detection and network security are extensively utilized for intrusion detection performed by utilizing Cyber security to reduce malicious behavior in the networks. DL based-based detection utilizes many algorithms, which are capable of capturing complex patterns, effective for high-dimensional data. In DL, the anomaly is solved by two ways: flow-based detection that analyzes the network flows and packet-level data to identify anomalies. © 2024 IEEE.
