Rating Text Classification with Weighted Negative Supervision on Classifier Layer

Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT) gives full play to the advantages of the attention mechanism, improves the performance of sentence representation, and provides a better choice for various natural language understanding(NLU)tasks. Many methods using BERT as the pre-trained model achieve state-of-the-art performance in almost various text classification scenarios. Among them, the multitask learning framework combining the negative supervision and the pre-trained model solves the issue of the model performance degradation that occurs as the semantic similarity of texts conflicts with the classification standards. The current model does not consider the degree of difference between labels, which leads to insufficient difference information learned by the model, and affects classification performance, especially in the rating classification tasks. On the basis of the multi-task learning model, this paper fully considers the degree of difference between labels, which is expressed by using weights to solve the above problems. We supervise negative samples on the classifier layer instead of the encoder layer, so that the classifier layer can also learn the difference information between the labels. Experimental results show that our model can not only performs well in 2-class and multi-class rating text classification tasks, but also performs well in different languages.

LiDAR technology has become a vital tool for researching these atmospheric components because of its capacity to measure backscattered signals and investigate the atmosphere at extremely high spatial and temporal resolution. However, machine learning has become a potent technique for sophisticated data processing and analysis because of the complexity and diversity of lidar technology. The aim of this research is to propose a novel technique in cloud IoT network-based LiDAR sensor imaging with image optimization using a metaheuristic deep learning model. Input has been collected LiDAR image using a cloud IoT module and processed for noise removal and normalization. Then this processed image is classified and optimized utilizing a quantile transfer graph convolutional model with binary firefly whale colony optimization. The experimental analysis is carried out in terms of detection accuracy, random precision, recall, RMSE, and AUC for various LiDAR sensor-based datasets. Comparing the results of the various approaches reveals that the suggested approach outperforms them all with a recall of 94%, a random precision of 95%, and a detection accuracy of 98%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

RG-ACA: efficient and adaptive routing method for internet of things based on metaheuristic approach

In Internet of Things (IoT) systems that use various and limited devices, efficient use of resources is critical. However, since this problem is inherently complex, an enhanced meta-heuristic approach is proposed. In this paper, a new method called Reverse Gauss Ant Colony Algorithm (RG-ACA) is suggested for the design of efficient routing protocol for these systems. It is analyzed on the network lifetime, throughput and packet delivery parameters and the results are compared with HEEL, I-HEEL, EES-LEACH and iABC algorithms. The RG-ACA algorithm ranked first in all categories compared to other related current studies with 94%, 96 Kbps and 91% performance in these three parameters, respectively. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

In this paper, we study the quantitative group testing problem, also known as the heavy hitter detection problem and the coin weighing problem, in a non-adaptive setting. In this problem, the aim is to recover k defective items from a group of n items with the smallest possible number of quantitative/additive tests, where each such test returns the number of defective items participating in the test. In the non-adaptive setting, that we study in this paper, all tests are designed at once and can be, in principle, run in parallel. We establish a novel construction method for designing non-adaptive test matrices with a nested structure inspired by the Plotkin concatenation in the coding theory literature. Our proposed algorithm identifies k defective items among the collection of n items with high probability using k(1 + o(1)) log (n/k) non-adaptive tests in the sub-linear regime of k = o(n). Furthermore, our analysis demonstrates that the probability of decoding failure approaches zero exponentially in k as k, n ? 8. Our approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods for designing non-adaptive test schemes with efficient decoders for the quantitative group testing problem in terms of the required number of measurements. © 2023 IEEE.

In the field of medical image analysis, with the growth of data volume and the increasing demand for privacy protection, traditional centralized learning methods are facing the problems of data silos and privacy leakage. Therefore, federated learning, as an emerging distributed machine learning framework, provides a solution to protect data privacy while effectively utilizing decentralized data. The purpose of this study is to develop a federated learning-based medical image analysis and classification system to solve the data isolation and privacy problems existing in traditional methods. This study uses a distributed federated learning framework that allows multiple healthcare organizations to share updates to their models instead of raw data. data privacy protection is further enhanced through the use of differential privacy and secure multi-party computation techniques. In addition, a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to improve the accuracy of feature extraction and classification of medical images. Experimental analysis shows that the system can significantly improve the classification accuracy of medical images. Specifically, our system achieved a 15% improvement in classification accuracy compared to traditional centralized methods. Additionally, the implementation of differential privacy and secure multi-party computation resulted in a privacy leakage reduction of 25%. These results verify the application potential of federated learning in the field of medical image processing, demonstrating superior performance and enhanced privacy protection compared to traditional centralized learning methods. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In the contemporary business landscape, software has evolved into a strategic asset crucial for organizations seeking sustainable competitive advantage. The imperative of ensuring software quality becomes evident as low-quality software systems pose formidable challenges to organizational performance. This study delves into the profound impact of three key dimensions of information system quality on organizational performance—information quality (IQ), quality of service (QoS), and software quality (SQ). Anchored in the DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model, a quantitative questionnaire was administered to 360 industry experts and academics. Rigorous data analysis, employing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM), revealed significant positive effects of all three quality dimensions on organizational performance. Among these dimensions, software quality emerged as the most influential, showcasing substantial total effects, closely followed by information and service qualities. The study underscores the tangible value derived from strategic investments in enhancing software, information, and service quality. Elevating these facets manifests as a catalyst for improved organizational performance, empowering decision-makers with accurate and timely information while enhancing user satisfaction with the system. This research contributes significantly to the IS success literature by empirically validating the synergistic relationship between information quality, service quality, software quality, and organizational outcomes. The systematic analysis offered in this study goes beyond theoretical validation, providing actionable insights for managers. The findings guide the prioritization of quality initiatives and resource allocation, enabling organizations to maximize competitive advantage. Authentication is a crucial step in the cyber security process that confirms user identities. Even though they are widely used, traditional password based techniques are frequently vulnerable to attacks like guessing and password theft. This study presents the Optimal Strong Password Authentication (OSPA) protocol, which uses USB sticks to provide safe user authentication in order to address these issues. The Multi-Level Hashing Algorithm (MLHA), which dynamically picks hash functions during authentication to generate many layers of hashed passwords, is a key component of OSPA's effectiveness. By preventing eavesdropping efforts and reducing the possibility of unwanted access through guessing attacks, this method strengthens security. This protocol provides strong authentication procedures, protecting confidential data and improving overall cyber security posture by integrating MLHA into the OSPA architecture. © 2024 IEEE.

Spatio-Temporal NDVI Prediction for Rice Crop

Accurately predicting the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is crucial for effective agricultural planning and decision-making. Despite much literature on NDVI prediction, most of these methods do not consider spatial-temporal variations. Generating a dataset for predicting NDVI is another major bottleneck, as such data needs to be collected over an extensive period. In this work, we develop a semi-automated framework to generate a comprehensive time-series dataset after necessary preprocessing using the information from Sentinel-2, POWER data Access Viewer, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE). We propose a deep learning-based model to predict NDVI based on its historical time series and meteorological and spatial information for the rice crop in India. Here, we use a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based model augmented with spatial information to predict the NDVI of the near-about region for which the data is unavailable. We compared the proposed approach with a method that uses a weighted average of nearest neighbors prediction. Also, we compare the proposed method with existing statistical techniques such as the Autoregressive (AR), AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), and Seasonal AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA). Math word problem (MWP) represents a critical research area within reading comprehension, where accurate comprehension of math problem text is crucial for generating math expressions. However, current approaches still grapple with unresolved challenges in grasping the sensitivity of math problem text and delineating distinct roles across various clause types, and enhancing numerical representation. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a Numerical Magnitude Aware Multi-Channel Hierarchical Encoding Network (NMA-MHEA) for math expression generation. Firstly, NMA-MHEA implements a multi-channel hierarchical context encoding module to learn context representations at three different channels: intra-clause channel, inter-clause channel, and context-question interaction channel. NMA-MHEA constructs hierarchical constituent-dependency graphs for different levels of sentences and employs a Hierarchical Graph Attention Neural Network (HGAT) to learn syntactic and semantic information within these graphs at the intra-clause and inter-clause channels. NMA-MHEA then refines context clauses using question information at the context-question interaction channel. Secondly, NMA-MHEA designs a number encoding module to enhance the relative magnitude information among numerical values and type information of numerical values. The segmentation of the polyps during colonoscopy is one of the most crucial factors for successful colon cancer diagnosis. Due to the wide variety of sizes and shapes of these polyps, this process can be challenging. The introduction of deep learning models in biomedical image analysis has shown a great impact on disease detection and segmentation. Most of the deep learning models concentrated on larger size polyps only, smaller size polyps may not segmented accurately during the procedure and can cause cancer in 5–7 years. This can have a significant impact on the early-stage detection of colon cancer. This chapter proposes an enhanced Res-UNET-based deep learning–based model that can improve the performance of segmentation on small-size polyps. We evaluated the proposed model on ETIS-LaribPolypDB, CVC-ColonDB, CVC-ClinicDB, Kvasir-SEG colonoscopy image datasets. The results show that the proposed enhanced Res-UNET model achieves the top Dice segmentation accuracy and top Hausdorff distance over the recent state-of-the-art models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
