Small nucleolar RNAs(snoRNAs) represent an abundant group of noncoding RNAs in the nucleolus of eukaryotes. Recent studies revealed that snoRNAs play a significant role in a wide range of diseases. Identifying snoRNA-disease associations can provide great insights into understanding the disease and treatment and boosting drug discovery development. Traditional methods of using biological experiments are often usually small-scale and time-consuming. Therefore, it is urgent to develop a computational framework to predict snoRNA-disease associations. In this work, we proposed a novel Graph Convolutional Network(GCN) based framework GCNSDA for predicting snoRNA-disease associations. To our best knowledge, GCNSDA is the first framework that uses a graph convolutional network to predict snoRNA-disease associations. GCNSDA is built on the bipartite graph of snoRNAs and diseases;it uses a graph neural network to discover latent factors that cause the association between snoRNAs and diseases and then generate embedded representations of snoRNAs and diseases. Experimental results showed that GCNSDA achieved better performance than the other six state-of-the-art methods. Case study further confirmed the effectiveness of GCNSDA in predicting snoRNA-disease associations. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents a solution for counting fruit in agricultural greenhouses using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV s). Initially, a heuristic based on Simulated Annealing was used to optimize the UAV's trajectory, ensuring efficient coverage of the beds. Next, digital image processing (DIP) techniques were implemented to count the fruit, including depth segmentation, application of bounding boxes, color filtering, and element counting. The DIP accuracy was evaluated in multiple scenarios and the results indicate high reliability in fruit counting, with the potential to optimize agricultural operations and provide valuable information to producers. Possible future improvements could include further refinements in image processing to increase the accuracy of counting other fruits. Ultimately, this work contributes to the advancement of automation in agriculture by offering a viable and efficient solution for counting fruit in greenhouses using UAV s.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in improving the economy of small communities and the stability of the Indonesian economy. However, they still face various problems such as capital, raw materials, distribution, licensing, and others. This study developed a special treatment recommendation system to increase the independence of MSMEs by adopting a ranking-based method to produce recommendations related to problem-solving steps from MSMEs. The ranking method used Normalized Rating Frequency (NRF). This method performed an aggregation process of the ratings given by MSMEs in looking at the priority level of problem-solving based on previous experience. The result of the experiment showed that an average NDCG value was 0.7916. This explained that the quality of the ranking was good so that it was feasible to be recommended in solving problems in the form of special treatment to acquire to the independence of MSMEs. © 2021 IEEE

The majority of medical images, especially those that resemble cells, have similar characteristics. These images, which occur in a variety of shapes, often show abnormalities in the organ or cell region. The convolution operation possesses a restricted capability to extract visual patterns across several spatial regions of an image. The involution process, which is the inverse operation of convolution, complements this inherent lack of spatial information extraction present in convolutions. In this study, we investigate how applying a single layer of involution prior to a convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture can significantly improve classification and segmentation performance, with a comparatively negligible amount of weight parameters. The study additionally shows how excessive use of involution layers might result in inaccurate predictions in a particular type of medical image. This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreography that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m physical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreographic positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice.

This paper presents a comprehensive methodology for gender detection using hand palm images, leveraging image processing techniques and PySpark for scalable and efficient processing. The approach encompasses a meticulous image preprocessing pipeline, incorporating essential stages like grayscale conversion, the application of the Difference of Gaussians (DoG) filter, and adaptive histogram equalization. This approach not only refines image features but also ensures scalability, accommodating large datasets seamlessly. After preprocessing of hand images, the VGG19 model is employed as a powerful feature extractor, utilizing its pre-trained convolutional layers to capture high-level abstract features from hand palm images. The final step was to train and fit the tabular data and extracted features on the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) model, which is a feedforward neural network for classification tasks in PySpark. The MLP model, with its ability to learn complex patterns, proves effective in accurately predicting gender categories based on the extracted features. Finally, the model results were 94% accuracy for training and 87% testing which indicates that the model is generalizing well to unseen data. Also, another evaluation metrics were used like Precision 0.87, Recall 0.87, F1 Score 0.87 and AUC 0.92.

This paper focuses on a performance enhancement of communication performance by compressing data stream. ASE coding is an effective lossless data compression method for data stream. The software implementation of the coding/decoding method inevitably meets a performance mismatch in memory and storage devices. In the compressor side, it is predictable to decide the size of an original data block and is available to process a flexible buffer memory. However, the decompressor is not able to predict the buffer size because the original data size is not obvious before the decompression. This causes a performance mismatch in the filesystem level. This paper proposes a novel method to address the performance mismatch by applying a notification mechanism of compression size from the compressor. This paper describes the mechanism focusing on the system call usage. Through experimental evaluations, we show the performance improvement of the decompression performance for handling data stream.

HyperCRX is a browser extension designed for the GitHub platform, aimed at enhancing the open-source experience by providing in-depth insights into projects and developers. Unlike traditional tools, HyperCRX seamlessly integrates with GitHub, offering real-time analysis of project ecosystems, devel-oper contributions, and community activities. This helps users better understand and manage open-source projects. In this work, we have extended HyperCRX to deepen the level of insights and integrated LLMs capabilities to enable intelligent open-source operational support and automated project insight analysis. The plugin caters to a wide range of user groups, including developers, project maintainers, and open-source operators, helping them improve efficiency and make data-driven decisions. Impact of CLAHE-based image enhancement for diabetic retinopathy classification through deep learning

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy.
