A Magnetoencephalography (MEG) time-series recording consists of multi-channel signals collected by superconducting sensors, with each signal's intensity reflecting magnetic field changes over time at the sensor location. Automating epileptic MEG spike detection significantly reduces manual assessment time and effort, yielding substantial clinical benefits. Existing research addresses MEG spike detection by encoding neural network inputs with signals from all channel within a time segment, followed by classification. However, these methods overlook simultaneous spiking occurred from nearby sensors. We introduce a simple yet effective paradigm that first clusters MEG channels based on their sensor's spatial position. Next, a novel convolutional input module is designed to integrate the spatial clustering and temporal changes of the signals. This module is fed into a custom MEEG-ResNet3D developed by the authors, which learns to extract relevant features and classify the input as a spike clip or not. Our method achieves an F1 score of 94.73% on a large real-world MEG dataset Sanbo-CMR collected from two centers, outperforming state-of-the-art approaches by 1.85%. Moreover, it demonstrates efficacy and stability in the Electroencephalographic (EEG) seizure detection task, yielding an improved weighted F1 score of 1.4% compared to current state-of-the-art techniques evaluated on TUSZ, whch is the largest EEG seizure dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

The manufacturing process of all-solid-state batteries necessitates the use of polymer ***,these binders,being ionic insulators by nature,can adversely affect charge transport within composite cathodes,thereby impacting the rate performance of the *** this work,we aim to investigate the impact of fabrication methods,specifically the solvent-free dry process versus the slurry-cast wet process,on binder distribution and charge transport in composite cathodes of solid-state *** the dry process,the binder forms a fibrous network,while the wet process results in binder coverage on the surface of cathode active *** difference in microstructure leads to a notable 20-fold increase in ionic conductivity in the dry-processed ***,the cells processed via the dry method exhibit higher capacity retention of 89％and 83％at C/3 and C/2 rates,respectively,in comparison to 68％and 58％for the wet-processed cells at the same *** findings provide valuable insights into the influence of fabrication methods on binder distribution and charge transport,contributing to a better understanding of the binder's role in manufacturing of all-solid-state batteries.

Clinical Note Owns its Hierarchy: Multi-Level Hypergraph Neural Networks for Patient-Level Representation Learning

Leveraging knowledge from electronic health records (EHRs) to predict a patient’s condition is essential to the effective delivery of appropriate care. Clinical notes of patient EHRs contain valuable information from healthcare professionals, but have been underused due to their difficult contents and complex hierarchies. Recently, hypergraph-based methods have been proposed for document classifications. Directly adopting existing hypergraph methods on clinical notes cannot sufficiently utilize the hierarchy information of the patient, which can degrade clinical semantic information by (1) frequent neutral words and (2) hierarchies with imbalanced distribution. Thus, we propose a taxonomy-aware multi-level hypergraph neural network (TM-HGNN), where multi-level hypergraphs assemble useful neutral words with rare keywords via note and taxonomy level hyperedges to retain the clinical semantic information. The constructed patient hypergraphs are fed into hierarchical message passing layers for learning more balanced multi-level knowledge at the note and taxonomy levels. We validate the effectiveness of TM-HGNN by conducting extensive experiments with MIMIC-III dataset on benchmark in-hospital-mortality prediction. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with the Cell Division Cycle 7 (CDC7) protein emerging as a potential therapeutic target due to its critical role in tumor proliferation, survival, and resistance. However, a comprehensive analysis of CDC7 across multiple cancers is lacking, and existing therapeutic options have come with limited clinical success. The aim of this is to integrate a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of CDC7 with the identification of novel marine-derived inhibitors, bridging the understanding of CDC7's role as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target across diverse cancer types. In this study, we conducted a pan-cancer analysis of CDC7 across 33 tumor types using publicly available datasets to evaluate its expression, genetic alterations, immune interactions, survival, and prognostic significance. Additionally, a marine-derived compound library of 31,492 molecules was screened to identify potential CDC7 inhibitors using chemoinformatics and machine learning. The top candidates underwent rigorous evaluations, including molecular docking, pharmacokinetics, toxicity, Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The findings revealed that CDC7 is overexpressed in several cancers and is associated with poor survival outcomes and unfavorable prognosis. Enrichment analysis linked CDC7 to critical DNA replication pathways, while its role in modulating tumor-immune interactions highlighted its potential as a target for immunotherapy. Among all tested compounds, Tetrahydroaltersolanol D (CMNPD21999) exhibited the strongest binding affinity and stability, along with better drug-likeness and zero toxicity. These attributes highlight its potential as a promising drug candidate for CDC7 inhibition and future cancer treatment development. Furthermore, additional in vitro and in vivo studies are required to confirm the effectiveness of this drug candidate against the CDC7 protein. © 2025

— Tourism in India plays a quintessential role in the country's economy with an estimated 9.2% GDP share for the year 2018. With a yearly growth rate of 6.2%, the industry holds a huge potential for being the primary driver of the economy as observed in the nations of the Middle East like the United Arab Emirates. The historical and cultural diversity exhibited throughout the geography of the nation is a unique spectacle for people around the world and therefore serves to attract tourists in tens of millions in number every year. Traditionally, tour guides or academic professionals who study these heritage monuments were responsible for providing information to the visitors regarding their architectural and historical significance. However, unfortunately this system has several caveats when considered on a large scale such as unavailability of sufficient trained people, lack of accurate information, failure to convey the richness of details in an attractive format etc. Recently, machine learning approaches revolving around the usage of monument pictures have been shown to be useful for rudimentary analysis of heritage sights. This paper serves as a survey of the research endeavors undertaken in this direction which would eventually provide insights for building an automated decision system that could be utilized to make the experience of tourism in India more modernized for visitors. Objective: Extraction of the third molar of the mandible is one of the most common oral surgical procedures. Preoperative monitoring and assessment are crucial to mitigate neurological risks. Identifying whether the third molar in the mandible compresses the inferior alveolar nerve still relies on dental professionals, a task that is repetitive and time-consuming. Thus, the primary objective is to utilize dental panoramic radiography for image processing and classify whether the third molar compresses the inferior alveolar nerve, aiming to reduce the demand for CT images in symptom diagnosis and mitigate the risks associated with high-dose radiation. Technology or Method: This study proposes an innovative dental panoramic radiography segmentation technique to locate the third molar position. Subsequently, an innovative edge masking enhancement method is used to extract features of the inferior alveolar nerve and the third molar. Moreover, a transformer-based image detection model to consider whether the third molar compresses the inferior alveolar nerve. Results: The third molar position localization method achieved an accuracy rate of 97.92%, compared to recent research at least improved by 3.6% accuracy. Subsequently, innovative edge masking and image enhancement methods improve classification accuracy by 4.3%, when supplemented with computed tomography scan images for further evaluation, the maximum accuracy reached 98.45%, representing a 4.5% improvement compared to previous studies. Conclusions: The third molar position detection results will impact the identification of the inferior alveolar nerve compressed by the third molar. Through the innovative edge region segmentation algorithm can effectively distinguish this object, and the overall evaluation accuracy can be improved by approximately 3.8%. © 2013 IEEE.

Background and objectives: Depression inflicts significant harm on both society and family. Previous studies have indicated that the functional network of EEG signals worked well in recognizing major depression. This study aims to further identify depression severities and characterize their EEG functional network difference by designing a deep learning strategy and a corresponding visualization ***: Rest state EEG recordings from 30 healthy controls, 35 mild depressed and 26 severe depressed patients were included. Weighted phase lag indexes were computed across four frequency sub-bands to delineate the functional connectivity of EEG networks, serving as the input matrix. To better adapt volume conduction effects, a shallow CNN-based incorporated with 2D Self-Attention architecture was designed, enabling the model to capture information across diverse spans and scales within the functional connectivity (FC) matrix. Leveraging the Grad-CAM algorithm, the model highlighted crucial FCs and corresponding EEG pairs for classification. Finally, the changes of EEG FC network across depression severities were statistically analyzed and ***: An accuracy of 89.2% was achieved in tri-classification of 10-second EEG segments using 52 EEG channels, remaining high at 84.1% with 30 selected channels. Notably, the investigation revealed that significant FC changes from mild to severe depression did not exhibit a simple or monotonous ***: This research presented a directly measured methodology to identify depression severity, vital for informing prevention and therapeutic interventions. Furthermore, the findings shed light on the evolving patterns of brain function as depression progresses. The proposed deep learning model and channel selection algorithm offer potential applications beyond this study, promising broader utility in EEG-based research endeavors. © 2024, The Authors. Autonomous cars have become an interesting discussion in recent years. Several major automotive industries such as Tesla, GM and Nissan are trying to become pioneers in autonomous car technology. Giant technology companies such as Google Waymo, Baidu and Aptiv also developing autonomous car technology. Several technological approaches are carried out in implementing autonomous cars for recognizing surrounding situations, such as radar, lidar, sonar, GPS, and odometry. An automatic control system is used to control navigation based on the data obtained from these sensors. This paper will discuss the use of CNN deep learning algorithm for recognizing the surrounding environment in creating the automatic navigation required by autonomous cars. The system designed will create and learn the data set that will be taken in advance and the learning outcomes will be implemented in an open simulation system. This simulation shows high accuracy in learning to navigate the autonomous car by observing the surrounding environment. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The increasingly massive use of e-Learning illustrates the speed and need for innovation in learning. According to the National Higher Education Standards (SN-Dikti), constructive alignment is required between learning outcomes, processes, and assessments to properly implement learning in e-Learning. Assessment is an essential component of e-Learning. Unfortunately, the problem of assessment in e-Learning is still found. One of them is the limitations of e-Learning in accommodating and processing various assessment data, primarily linguistic. Even though the variety of assessment data, both numerical, linguistic, and a combination of the two, supports a comprehensive assessment. On the other hand, the accommodation of linguistic data raises problems regarding how to process of unifying linguistic data is carried out. Research related to linguistic data using computing with words has been carried out, but it still needs more precise results from the unification of the linguistic data. Therefore, this study proposes providing an assessment instrument to accommodate linguistic data in e-Learning, as well as showing how to process of unifying linguistic data is carried out using 2-Tuple Fuzzy Linguistic. This approach can avoid the loss of assessment information by presenting more informative and precise results in a 2-tuple (s, α) where $s$ indicates the ability level, and α shows a comparison of abilities with other learners and the potential of the learner to achieve higher abilities. This proposal has the potential to be applied in a learner assessment system for higher education e-Learning.

Replace2Self: Self-Supervised Denoising based on Voxel Replacing and Image Mixing for Diffusion MRI

Low signal to noise ratio (SNR) remains one of the limitations of diffusion weighted (DW) imaging. How to suppress the influence of noise on the subsequent analysis about the tissue microstructure is still challenging. This work proposed a novel self-supervised learning model, Replace2Self, to effectively reduce spatial correlated noise in DW images. Specifically, a voxel replacement strategy based on similar block matching in Q-space was proposed to destroy the correlations of noise in DW image along one diffusion gradient direction. To alleviate the signal gap caused by the voxel replacement, an image mixing strategy based on complementary mask was designed to generate two different noisy DW images. After that, these two noisy DW images were taken as input, and the non-correlated noisy DWimage after voxel replacement was taken as learning target, a denoising network was trained for denoising. To promote the denoising performance, a complementary mask mixing consistency loss and an inverse replacement regularization loss were also proposed. Through the comparisons against several existing DW image denoising methods on extensive simulation data with different noise distributions, noise levels and b-values, as well as the acquisition datasets and the ablation experiments, we verified the effectiveness of the proposed method. Regardless of the noise distribution and noise level, the proposed method achieved the highest PSNR, which was at least 1.9% higher than the suboptimal method when the noise level reaches 10%. Furthermore, our method has superior generalization ability due to the use of the proposed strategies. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.
