An intelligent reflecting surface(IRS),or its various equivalents such as an reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS), is an emerging technology to control radio signal propagation in wireless systems. An IRS is a digitally controlled metasurface consisting of a large number of passive reflecting elements, which are connected to a smart controller to enable dynamic adjustments of the amplitude and/or phase of the incident signal on each element independently [1].

As an important computer vision task that can be used in many areas, facial expression recognition (FER) has been widely studied which much progress has been obtained especially when deep learning (DL) approaches have been introduced in FER. However, existing methods are restricted to extracting localized information or utilizing attention mechanism to focus on the region most relevant to the emotion, possibly resulting in errors in facial expression interpretation. Moreover, the inconsistency of image sizes in the wild FER datasets further increases the difficulty of the FER task. To address these issues, we propose a multi-scale feature fusion (MSFF) for FER. Specifically, our method first extracts features from facial images using multi-scale feature extraction to obtain rich multi-dimensional information. Meanwhile, extensive feature extraction at different scales is achieved by expanding the receptive field of the model, which provides the basis for more detailed analysis of facial expressions. Eventually, features at different scales are fused to enhance their synergistic effect. Subsequently, the adaptive extraction of comprehensive and valuable information from the fused features is performed, optimizing the performance of expression recognition. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on in-the-wild datasets. This research work presents a novel language intervention system for Tamil-speaking children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The system satisfies the considerable requirement for tools aimed at one more section of population that has actually been forgotten by mainstream economics. Traditional language learning applications often lack specificity for diverse linguistic contexts, focusing on general learning rather than the unique challenges faced by ASD children. The proposed solution leverages Deep Learning (DL) modules to transform partial spoken Tamil words into complete, child-friendly vocabulary. This system goes beyond simple word completion;it incorporates interactive features to engage children with ASD and promote active learning. Preliminary evaluations yielded promising results, suggesting the system's potential in enhancing communication skills among Tamil-speaking children with ASD. This paper research study reviews the limitations of existing language learning tools and the rationale behind employing a DL-based approach. We discuss the specific DL architecture (e.g., Recurrent Neural Networks) envisioned for the system and how it will be trained on a corpus of Tamil speech data. This study also investigate the potential advantages beyond vocabulary learning, such as improved sentence formulation and the development of practical language abilities. Future ambitions include broadening the system's scope to include more languages, refining the DL model through ongoing training with enriched datasets, and conducting extensive user research with varied ASD populations. Validation across demographics is critical to ensuring the system's efficiency and generality. This research has the potential to bridge the language acquisition gap for Tamil-speaking children with ASD, empowering them to develop crucial communication skills and fostering their social inclusion. © 2024 IEEE.

The pandemic creates a more complicated providence of medical assistance and diagnosis procedures. In the world, Covid-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS Cov-2), and plague are widely known pandemic disease desperations. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic tragedies, various medical diagnosis models and intelligent computing solutions are proposed for medical applications. In this era of computer-based medical environment, conventional clinical solutions are surpassed by many Machine Learning and Deep Learning-based COVID-19 diagnosis models. Anyhow, many existing models are developing lab-based diagnosis environments. Notably, the Gated Recurrent Unit-based Respiratory data Analysis (GRU-RE), Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based Covid data Analysis (Thermal Images) (I-UVAC), and Convolutional Neural Network-based computer Tomography Image Analysis (CNN-CT) are enriched with lightweight image data analysis techniques for obtaining mass pandemic data at real-time conditions. However, the existing models directly deal with bulk images (thermal data and respiratory data) to diagnose the symptoms of COVID-19. Against these works, the proposed spectacle thermal image data analysis model creates an easy and effective way of disease diagnosis deployment strategies. Particularly, the mass detection of disease symptoms needs a more lightweight equipment setup. In this proposed model, each patient's thermal data is collected via the spectacles of medical staff, and the data are analyzed with the help of a complex set of capsule network functions. Comparatively, the conventional capsule network functions are enriched in this proposed model using adequate sampling and data reduction solutions. In this way, the proposed model works effectively for mass thermal data diagnosis applications. Current technology utilizes a sophisticated standard room measurement system to analyze the average roughness of Stainless Steel Bearing Surface. However, this process relies on random sampling at infrequent intervals, resulting in inefficiency and inadequate analysis of a large number of samples. To address this issue, we propose a solution using computer vision via laser scanning. The scanning process produces an amplified speckle pattern of the ring surface. This pattern is then analyzed to verify the number of edges that cross a predefined threshold and exhibit symmetrical patterns, particularly on smoothed ring surfaces. Remarkably, this system operates with a turnaround time of less than a second. Moreover, unlike the standard room setup, this technology can be seamlessly integrated directly into production/manufacturing units. © 2024 IEEE.

The Sign Language Recognition System has been designed to capture video input, process it to detect hand gestures, and translate these gestures into readable text. The project consists of several key components and steps: Video Processing: Using OpenCV, the system captures frames from the video input. MediaPipe processes these frames to detect and track hand landmarks in real time. OpenCV capabilities allow for efficient frame extraction and basic image processing tasks such as resizing and normalization. Hand Detection and Tracking: MediaPipe pre-trained models identify and track hand movements within the video frames. The accurate detection and tracking of the hand movements are critical for the subsequent recognition of the sign language gestures. Sign Language Recognition: The core system is the deep learning model, trained using the TensorFlow and Keras on a dataset of sign language gestures. The model learns to classify the detected hand movements into corresponding sign language characters or words. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are typically used for task due to their effectiveness in image recognition tasks. Text Display: Once the system recognizes the signs, it converts them into text and displays the output. This can be done through a console output or a graphical user interface (GUI) built with Tkinter. This research addresses the pressing global demand for food by leveraging cutting-edge deep learning techniques for automating plant disease detection. Focusing on tomato and potato leaf diseases, the study utilized the PlantVillage dataset to compare classical machine learning methods, such as Local Binary Patterns (LBP) combined with classifiers like kNN, SVM, and Extreme Learning Machines, against modern Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures. These included MobileNet, DenseNet201, ResNet50, Inception V3, and VGG16/19. A custom-designed CNN model was developed with unique configurations implemented using Keras and TensorFlow. The model was tested for binary, 6-class, and 10-class classifications, achieving remarkable accuracy rates of 99.6%, 98.4%, and 97.2%, respectively. Notably, after 50 training epochs, the model achieved a peak accuracy of 99.78% for plant disease classification. A practical web-based application was also developed, integrating the best-performing model to facilitate real-time leaf disease detection and notify farmers via email. This approach demonstrates a significant advancement in sustainable agriculture by providing an efficient, accurate, and scalable solution for early disease detection, which is critical for improving crop yield and productivity. © 2025 IEEE.

The surging popularity of online movie databases has created a challenge for viewers: choosing a film from a massive library can be overwhelming. In this paper, it proposes to design a new hybrid movie recommendation powered by machine learning techniques as a solution to improve user experience. Among those techniques, two are combined into this paper: content-based filtering, using the real features of a movie such as genre and a director, and collaborative filtering, which uses the rating provided by users. This hybrid approach thus improves the intrinsic weaknesses that reside in both these methods individually. On the other hand, content-based filtering tends to reduce exploration to movies of the exact type one is doing well at, whereas, inversely, collaborative filtering settings often mean that a user will be exposed only to films within his or her already-recognized taste profile. It is expected that the proposed hybrid system will solve both problems by balancing this line between exploring familiar cinematic territory and making new recommendations based on both user preferences and the entire collective intelligence of the user base. The approach would aim to enrich user satisfaction by facilitating the selection of movies and providing a richer and more diversified movie-viewing experience. © 2024 IEEE.
