Brain tumors are one of the greatest causes of death worldwide. Due to that, early diagnosis and classification of the tumor would surely help increase the chance of survival for patients worldwide. However, classifying and identifying brain tumors requires certain tools, including using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to detect brain tumors. Moreover, many researchers in the past have also built up computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems to aid radiologists in their purpose of detecting brain abnormalities and tumors effectively. In this research, extracted multi-modal features like texture, morphological, entropy-based, Scale Invariant Features are proposed, and consequently, certain robust machine learning techniques, which are k-nearest neighbors (KNN), Decision Tree (DT), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive Bayes, as well as the Logistic Regression classifier were used to analyze the two data-sets included in the paper, detect tumors found in the brain, not to mention, examining their results, which have then shown the highest accuracy when using the Logistic regression classifier in both data sets, with the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier following it, which further support the argument made in the paper.

Alzheimer's disease is a fatal brain disorder that impacts predominantly the elderly. The early identification of Alzheimer's illness requires the use of efficient automated methods. For the categorization of Alzheimer's disease, researchers have proposed several distinct methods. To create more effective learning strategies, however, a deeper comprehension of Alzheimer's research is necessary. The condition is diagnosed but not until a later stage. As a consequence, the disease's progression or its symptoms' onset can be slowed if detected earlier. This article uses two datasets and machine learning techniques to predict Alzheimer's disease based on psychological characteristics such as age, gender, number of visits, and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). We ultimately focused on the masculine gender and characteristics. The following results (accuracy) were discovered: SVM: 84%, KNN: 79%, and Random forest: 86%. Neural network: 86%; Naive Bayes: 83%.

Semantic textual similarity is a fundamental task in text mining and natural language processing (NLP), which has profound research value. The essential step for text similarity is text representation learning. Recently, researches have explored the graph convolutional network (GCN) techniques on text representation, since GCN does well in handling complex structures and preserving syntactic information. However, current GCN models are usually limited to very shallow layers due to the vanishing gradient problem, which can not capture non-local dependency information of sentences. In this paper, we propose a GCNs-based context-aware (GCSTS) model that applies iterated GCN blocks to train deeper GCNs. Recurrently employing the same GCN block prevents over-fitting and provides broad effective input width. Combined with dense connections, GCSTS can be trained more deeply. Besides, we use dynamic graph structures in the block, which further extends the receptive field of each vertex in graphs, learning better sentence representations. Experiments show that our model outperforms existing models on several text similarity datasets, while also verify that GCNs-based text representation models can be trained in a deeper manner, rather than being trained in two or three layers.

In today's environment, cancer is a fatal disease. Skin cancer has become a fairly common malignancy due to the spread of several forms of cancer. Skin cancer is divided into two types: melanoma and non-melanoma. Melanoma is one of the most fatal tumors on the planet, and it can spread to other parts of the body if not diagnosed early enough. Our proposed system uses Five alternative methods to predict a skin lesion's borders, texture, and color: a neural network and four standard machine learning classifiers. To enhance their performance, the outputs of these systems are merged using majority voting. Experiments have demonstrated that combining the five strategies yields the maximum level of accuracy. Pre-processing, Segmentation, Feature Extraction, and Classification are four critical phases in skin cancer identification. Skin lesion images were collected for this research from the International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC), which contains over 3297 photos. The accuracy of the NN classifier is 91.9%, compared to 87.2% for the KNN classifier, 81.5% for the Naive Bayes classifier, 72.5% for the SVM classifier, and 68.3% for the DT classifier.

1. Calibration is a crucial step for the validation of computational models and a challenging task to accomplish. 2. Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) theory has experienced an exponential rise in the number of published papers, which in large part has been made possible by the DEBtool toolbox. Multimodal evolutionary optimisation could provide DEBtool with new capabilities, particularly relevant on the provisioning of equally optimal and diverse solutions. 3. In this paper we present MultiCalib4DEB, a MATLAB toolbox directly integrated into the existing DEBtool toolbox, which uses multimodal evolutionary optimisation algorithms to find multiple global and local optimal and diverse calibration solutions for DEB models. 4. MultiCalib4DEB adds powerful calibration mechanisms, statistical analysis, and visualisation methods to the DEBtool toolbox and provides a wide range of outputs, different calibration alternatives, and specific tools to strengthen the DEBtool calibration module and to aid DEBtool users to evaluate the performance of the calibration results. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

This paper proposes a novel proxy-based re-encryption (PRE) scheme for secured data communication in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment, integrated with blockchain technology to enhance data privacy and security. The scheme employs identity-based encryption (IBE) to streamline key management and ensures efficient data sharing by leveraging blockchain for decentralized access control. Proxy servers, acting as intermediaries, handle resource-intensive computations, reducing the load on resource-constrained IoT devices. The system was evaluated across multiple parameters, including encryption, decryption, and re-encryption times, communication overhead, and computational cost. Results demonstrated that the system scales efficiently with data sizes, with encryption times increasing linearly from 5ms to 60ms for data sizes ranging from 10 KB to 100 KB. The re-encryption times followed a similar trend, ranging from 8ms to 60ms. Accuracy in maintaining secure data access control was recorded at 98.5%, ensuring that unauthorized access was effectively prevented. Communication overhead was minimal, with only a 3–12 KB increase across different data sizes due to the additional security features.

The speaker extraction technique seeks to single out the voice of a target speaker from the interfering voices in a speech mixture. Typically an auxiliary reference of the target speaker is used to form voluntary attention. Either a pre-recorded utterance or a synchronized lip movement in a video clip can serve as the auxiliary reference. The use of visual cue is not only feasible, but also effective due to its noise robustness, and becoming popular. However, it is difficult to guarantee that such parallel visual cue is always available in real-world applications where visual occlusion or intermittent communication can occur. In this paper, we study the audiovisual speaker extraction algorithms with intermittent visual cue. We propose a joint speaker extraction and visual embedding inpainting framework to explore the mutual benefits. To encourage the interaction between the two tasks, they are performed alternately with an interlacing structure and optimized jointly. We also propose two types of visual inpainting losses and study our proposed method with two types of popularly used visual embeddings. The experimental results show that we outperform the baseline in terms of signal quality, perceptual quality, and intelligibility. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In high-throughput intelligent computing scenarios, multi-device parallelism strategies based on data parallelism or pipeline parallelism have been extensively utilized to accelerate large deep neural network model inference. data parallelism offers nearly linear improvement in inference speed, but it is limited by the memory capacity of a single device which constrains the model size. On the other hand, pipeline parallelism can support larger models, but the total communication of the activations among devices is high, which limits the improvement of the inference speed. To address the demand for efficient model inference in high-throughput heterogeneous scenarios, we proposes a hybrid parallelism strategy that combines data parallelism and pipeline parallelism. The strategy involves grouping heterogeneous device clusters and then employing inter-group data parallelism along with intra-group pipeline parallelism. Moreover, we propose an algorithm to find an optimal hybrid parallel inference strategy with maximum throughput. The control variables of the strategy includes the number of groups, group-device assignments and model partition ratios. Our experimental evaluation demonstrates that compared to PipeEdge, a pipeline parallel inference framework for heterogeneous cluster, our strategy can achieve 1.7× −3.4× acceleration in an 8-device heterogeneous cluster without loss of accuracy.

Understanding the global organization of complicated and high dimensional data is of primary interest for many branches of applied sciences. It is typically achieved by applying dimensionality reduction techniques mapping the considered data into lower dimensional space. This family of methods, while preserving local structures and features, often misses the global structure of the dataset. Clustering techniques are another class of methods operating on the data in the ambient space. They group together points that are similar according to a fixed similarity criteria, however unlike dimensionality reduction techniques, they do not provide information about the global organization of the data. Leveraging ideas from Topological data Analysis, in this paper we provide an additional layer on the output of any clustering algorithm. Such data structure, ClusterGraph, provides information about the global layout of clusters, obtained from the considered clustering algorithm. Appropriate measures are provided to assess the quality and usefulness of the obtained representation. Subsequently the ClusterGraph, possibly with an appropriate structure-preserving simplification, can be visualized and used in synergy with state of the art exploratory data analysis techniques. Handwritten digit recognition is a branch of machine learning in which a computer is taught to recognize hand-written numbers. Classification and regression are applied using deep learning and machine learning algorithms. In this paper, we discussed the efficiency of different algorithms: Random Forest, KNN, Naive Bayes, SVM, CNN, and Decision Tree Algorithm. Those algorithms were applied in the handwritten digit recognition process using the MINIST data set. By comparing each algorithm by training every one of them on the data set, then by testing, we got the best algorithm to get the optimal results with the highest accuracy. After comparing the results of each algorithm, it has shown that the neural network has the best results with 97.3% classification accuracy followed by K- the nearest neighbor with 97.2%.
