Offline Signature Authentication is a critical task in the field of document authentication, and its accuracy is essential for ensuring security while transactions. This research proposes two approaches: Initially Pre-trained CNN models are used to extract features from signature images, which are then combined with handcrafted features such as HOG and some other geometric features of signature. Such combined features are passed to bidirectional LSTM model in which drop out layer undergoes classification which differentiate real and forgery signature. The proposed system has potential applications in document authentication and security, subsequently combination of CNN models and additional features provides more comprehensive representation of signature images resulting in improved accuracy. Three signature datasets are utilized namely GDPS, CEDAR, and BHSig-Bengali each with varying signature styles and image quality. Our experimental outcomes reveal that Bidirectional Convolutional LSTM along with handcraft features attained maximum accuracy in offline signature verification system. © 2023 IEEE.

Cancer is a lethal disease among the diseases in the world. It is clinically known as ‘Malignant Neoplasm’ which is a vast group of diseases that encompasses unmonitored cell expansion. It can begin anywhere in the body such as the breast, skin, liver, lungs, brain, and so on. As reported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the projected growth of new cancer cases is forecast at 29.5 million and cancer-related deaths at 16.4 million through 2040. There are many medical procedures to identify the cancer cell, such as mammography, MRI, CT scan, which are common methods for cancer diagnosis. The methods used above have been found to be ineffective and necessitate the development of new and smarter cancer diagnostic technologies. Persuaded by the phenomena of medical image classification using deep learning, our recommended initiative targets to analyze the performance of different deep transfer learning models for cancer cell diagnosis. In this paper, we have used VGG16, Inception V3 and MobileNet V2 deep architectures to diagnosis the breast cancer (KAU-BCMD dataset), lung cancer (IQ-OTH/NCCD dataset) and skin cancerHam10000). Experimental results demonstrate that VGG16 architecture shows comparatively higher accuracy by exhibiting 98.5% of accuracy for breast cancer, 99.90% for lung cancer and 93% for skin cancer dataset. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a disease. Diabetic patients are mostly affected by this disease. This causes damage to the eyes. Most probably the disease affects both the back of the eye and the blood vessels of the light-sensitive. Initially, this DR disease causes only minor problems with vision. But eventually, the eyesight will go away. This condition may occur in any diabetic patient. When the disease is more affected, the blood sugar level is high. DR detection is the application of image processing to medical examinations. To diagnose DR the retinal images should be evaluated. However, it takes a lot of time and resources to physically assess the images so that the severity of the DR can be removed. The blood vessels in the retina are damaged due to this problem can be noticed. When it starts to bleed the small vessels, then it forms a way on the retina. To overcome the challenges of DR, CNN with PSO is introduced. There are different stages implicated in the diabetic retinopathy detection technique. They are pre-processing, optimization and classification. The main objective of the proposed work is to use the CNN algorithm to analyze the disease that seems to be most affected and classify and report only that area from the given input. PSO is used to optimize the given classified images, and then finally PSO with CNN technique will produce accurate results. © 2023 IEEE.

The challenge of interpretability remains a significant barrier to adopting deep neural networks in healthcare domains. Although tree regularization aims to align a deep neural network's decisions with a single axis-aligned decision tree, however, relying on one tree for all inputs often leads to sub-optimal performance and interoperability. To address this limitation, we propose an enhanced tree regularization method that integrates a post-hoc visual explainable model such as Grad-CAM. This approach guides the deep model to be well-approximated by decision trees tailored to the salient regions identified by Grad-CAM in the input space. We rigorously validate the effectiveness of this framework on two cancer cell datasets: CNMC, which focuses on acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells, and ISBI2016, which comprises benign and malignant skin lesions. The results demonstrate that the proposed method delivers simpler and more interpretable explanations without compromising accuracy, thereby advancing the interpretability of deep learning models in critical healthcare applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Spatial transcriptomics (ST) offers insights into gene expression patterns within tumor microenvironments, but its widespread application is impeded by cost constraints. To address this, predicting ST from Histology emerges as a cost-effective alternative. However, current methods such as STNet, HistoGene, and Hist2ST exhibit limitations, either overlooking stain variation across datasets or failing to well explore inter-spot correlations in scenarios with limited Whole Slide Image (WSI) data. In response, we present STFormer, a deep learning approach that incorporates the Style-Aug module to enhance feature generalization through medically-irrelevant style transfer augmentation. Additionally, the Cross-WSI Transformer module is introduced to capture Cross-WSI spot relationships efficiently. Our experimental results, conducted on both internal and external datasets, demonstrate that STFormer surpasses existing methods by a substantial margin. This showcases its potential as a powerful tool for spatial transcriptomics predictions, addressing critical gaps in current methodologies. © 2024 IEEE.

In the era of expanding wireless sensor network (WSN) applications, safeguarding these networks against a spectrum of threats, including Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, is paramount. The innate resource limitations of sensor nodes often render conventional security measures ineffective. This study introduces a pioneering approach integrating minimalist machine learning techniques to combat DoS attacks within WSNs. Our methodology adeptly leverages machine learning capabilities while strategically curbing computational and resource demands. By distilling essential features from network traffic patterns, our model adeptly identifies aberrations signaling DoS attacks, all while preserving the efficiency of resource-limited sensor nodes. Its minimalist framework seamlessly integrates with existing WSN architectures, negating the need for substantial hardware upgrades and maintaining network performance. Results underscore the superior detection accuracy and efficiency of our minimalist machine learning strategy compared to traditional methods. Moreover, its scalability and adaptability render it ideal for deployment across varied WSN setups, fortifying them against DoS threats while safeguarding core network *** mitigating DoS attack impacts without burdening computational resources, our approach marks a significant stride towards bolstering the security and dependability of wireless sensor networks amid evolving threat landscapes. © 2024 IEEE.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a widespread neurolog-ical condition affecting millions globally. It gradually advances, leading to memory loss, cognitive deterioration, and a substantial decline in overall quality of life for those affected. AD patients experience memory decline, eroding cherished memories and straining relationships, while daily tasks become challenging. Numerous investigations have been conducted in this field, as the timely identification of Alzheimer's disease at its initial stage is of the utmost importance. A major limitation in this field is the predominant emphasis on using single fine-tuned CNN architecture or comparing pre-trained and custom CNN models for Alzheimer's detection, often on small datasets, which neglects a more comprehensive approach. Using smaller datasets can negatively impact deep learning modeling accuracy due to overfitting, limited representation, and poor generalization. This study addresses the current research problems and proposes an ensemble approach that combines predictions from various pre-trained models, including DenseNet-121, EfficientNet B7, ResNet-50, VGG-19, and also from a Custom CNN. The model averaging ensemble method was applied, a subset of the Stacking Ensemble, to two ADNI datasets, with dataset-I being the larger. The goal was to assess the efficacy of this ensemble approach for accurate multiclass classification on ADNI datasets, where it successfully identified all classes despite differing sample volumes. A vast experiment was conducted on two distinct and widely recognized real-world datasets, resulting in accuracies of 99.96% and 98.90% respectively. Finally, the outcome of the research compared with recent research findings demonstrates the potential of our approach in advancing Alzheimer's disease detection by outperforming other benchmark approaches by a significant margin. © 2023 IEEE.

The precise prediction of preoperative recurrence in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is suitable for clinical application is still an open question. Recent advancements integrating genomic data with deep learning have shown promise in enhancing recurrence analysis in NSCLC patients. However, the lack of interpretability in the decision-making process of DNN models has hindered their clinical trustworthiness. In this paper, we propose a novel Biologically Informed Pathway-Aware Neural Network (BioPAN). By automatically extracting biological prior knowledge to guide the architecture of DNN models, we design a unified architecture of gene-pathway-biological process-disease. This approach endows each neuron with entity meaning and learns a multi-level view of biological pathways and processes related to recurrence for fully interpretable NSCLC recurrence prediction. We demonstrated that the proposed model well explains the molecular mechanisms linking genes to NSCLC recurrence, identifies several genes that significantly promote and inhibit recurrence, and elucidates the pivotal roles of various gene pathways at the biological process level. Moreover, it outperforms classical machine learning methods, provides fully interpretable biological information, and requires fewer parameters. Broadly, BioPAN enables clinical discovery and prediction, and may have general applicability across cancer types. © 2024 IEEE.

The purpose of unsupervised domain adaptation is to use the knowledge of the source domain whose data distribution is different from that of the target domain for promoting the learning task in the target *** key bottleneck in unsupervised domain adaptation is how to obtain higher-level and more abstract feature representations between source and target domains which can bridge the chasm of domain ***,deep learning methods based on autoencoder have achieved sound performance in representation learning,and many dual or serial autoencoderbased methods take different characteristics of data into consideration for improving the effectiveness of unsupervised domain ***,most existing methods of autoencoders just serially connect the features generated by different autoencoders,which pose challenges for the discriminative representation learning and fail to find the real cross-domain *** address this problem,we propose a novel representation learning method based on an integrated autoencoders for unsupervised domain adaptation,called *** capture the inter-and inner-domain features of the raw data,two different autoencoders,which are the marginalized autoencoder with maximum mean discrepancy(mAE)and convolutional autoencoder(CAE)respectively,are proposed to learn different feature *** higher-level features are obtained by these two different autoencoders,a sparse autoencoder is introduced to compact these inter-and inner-domain *** addition,a whitening layer is embedded for features processed before the mAE to reduce redundant features inside a local *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method compared with several state-of-the-art baseline methods.

CrossFi: A Cross Domain Wi-Fi Sensing Framework Based on Siamese Network

In recent years, Wi-Fi sensing has garnered significant attention due to its numerous benefits, such as privacy protection, low cost, and penetration ability. Extensive research has been conducted in this field, focusing on areas such as gesture recognition, people identification, and fall detection. However, many data-driven methods encounter challenges related to domain shift, where the model fails to perform well in environments different from the training data. One major factor contributing to this issue is the limited availability of Wi-Fi sensing datasets, which makes models learn excessive irrelevant information and over-fit to the training set. Unfortunately, collecting large-scale Wi-Fi sensing datasets across diverse scenarios is a challenging task. To address this problem, we propose CrossFi, a siamese network-based approach that excels in both in-domain scenario and cross-domain scenario, including few-shot, zero-shot scenarios, and even works in few-shot new-class scenario where testing set contains new categories. The core component of CrossFi is a sample-similarity calculation network called CSi-Net, which improves the structure of the siamese network by using an attention mechanism to capture similarity information, instead of simply calculating the distance or cosine similarity. Based on it, we develop an extra Weight-Net that can generate a template for each class, so that our CrossFi can work in different scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that our CrossFi achieves state-of-the-art performance across various scenarios. In gesture recognition task, our CrossFi achieves an accuracy of 98.17% in in-domain scenario, 91.72% in one-shot cross-domain scenario, 64.81% in zero-shot cross-domain scenario, and 84.75% in one-shot new-class scenario.
